They paid Reeder $1.1m. They could've signed Tyler Johnson to something in the $1m range if all they wanted was continuity. Instead they choose to sign Tutu to a contract 10 times that amount. That's significant.

You're right that the one year deal means something. But the $10m amount also means something and you're discounting that.

Also, at no point did any Rams coach talk up Reeder's skillset, say he was underutilized, while giving him a lot of money. No. They signed him to the minimum very quietly. That's what you do when you just want a body.
The ten million means they think he’s better than Johnson?

Or does it mean he fits the changes McVay envisions for the offense better than other guys on the roster? Tutu apparently fit McVays vision when he was drafted also.

Until now Atwell has proven to be good in spurts as the fourth receiver. Nothing more. Hopefully he can succeed as a full time starter. Until then this is just speculation based on a few games.

Man, again....y'all are conflating things. Who said he was an "amazing weapon"?

Nowhere did I say that. I think in today's NFL, he is worth the contract he got. He showed some promise last year.

And yes, I think playing Robinson over him was a mistake. I felt it at the time as well. The reasoning could very well be that he couldn't play the position Robinson did, which is fine - but let's stop ignoring that Tutu showed some promise last year and that young players don't get paid well in FA
I’m not even sure of your point at the moment. It’s a one year deal. He’s young, he could get more security than that if he’s really that good. If he’s so good why didn’t some team offer him a 3 year 33 million contract, with guaranteed money?

Tutu is very small and light. He’s definitely got physical limitations. I don’t believe the coaches made a 4 year mistake by not starting him. They saw his good games just like you did. They still kept him as the fourth option.

Jourdan said the Rams view him as their field stretcher next year. They just signed him to play a very specific role.

If he balls out and has a great season playing as a full time starter in 2025, then call me out in the end of December and say I told you so. Until then it’s all just projection.

If u put him in kupps role of being the roll man he will produce … they wasn’t benching kupp… one of

tutu wasn’t as effective as the x compared to the slot him being roll man helps him kupp was in his way …. But at the same time if u feel somebody can help more shouldnt the coach have set kupp down more and gave him more reps and tbh they wasn’t really throwing it to kupp down the stretch
Tutu was the fourth receiver for four years. He has serious size limitations. If McVay tried to make him a focal point of the offense it wouldn’t work because teams would be focused on knocking him around. He’s had a few good games but overall, and justifiably so the coaches didn’t feel like they could rely on him to play a prominent role in the offense.

Until he proves otherwise it’s just a bunch of people here screaming “I think he can, I think he can, I think he can. “ ,just like the little choo choo. Well, we will see if he can make it up over that mountain next year, or if he even gets the chance. I predict Whittington will pass him on the depth chart by midseason.

For now on I’m going to refer to him as Choo Choo

There is no way Choo Choo could play Kupp’s role. Not in a million years. He’s not physical enough to block like Kupp. Kupp basically plays the move tight end in a 12 personnel front. That’s usually a bigger body.

So put @Elmgrovegnome in the TuTu bad column. Got it. ;)

Not bad, just not as good as some people seem to think. He’s a useful fourth receiver. He was used by the coaches just right for the last four years.

I went through this same thing with Allen and Noteboom. I said they aren’t starter material and people kept telling me how wrong I was. :eyeroll:

I also didn’t like the entire Rams 2020 draft class, you in particular should remember that.

My original point was that this isn't a terrible decision. Nowhere did I say he was an amazing weapon, nowhere did I say he is "so good". He had a solid year and in todays NFL, he is worth the contract he got from us. That was and is my only point.

I don't know why he was kept as the fourth option last year - I believe that was a mistake. We'll see how he does in a bigger role next year, but based on his production in limited snaps, I think its fairly obvious he will do a solid job next year.

Yes, to all of the above. He's better than Johnson. His skillset fits the changes McVay envisions. I gather from Jourdan that it's a different role than what McVay envisioned when he was first drafted. I don't think they're trying to plug him in as the X WR anymore since McVay said that's what Adams is for.

Where we both agree is that we're hopeful that he can succeed as a full time starter.

Big difference to those guys... those two were expected to be starters at key positions.

Tutu is a 3rd/4th guy.. but one with defined traits that makes him valuable in different situations. It's also a one year deal and, as a percentage of the cap, it's a pretty minor hit.. or a slight overpay, if you prefer.

This is a football site.

You're the only one not talking about football.

You obviously haven’t seen the boobs and ass threads. ;)

But seriously, I don’t think you’re getting the vibe here. This is a place where Rams fans are at a bar, downing alcohol, sharing their opinions with each other, talking shit, having fun as fellow homers of the team, and it’s chill.

I’m looking at your posts and…well, it feels like you’re arguing for the sake of it.

Respectfully, I don't ever argue for the sake of arguing. I give my opinions (admittedly strongly) and others are free to disagree at any time.

I'm a big boy, I've got a good life and I never take things personally.

The back and forth is where the fun is.

Anyway, we both love the Rams and are Rambros.

Let's move on from this, shall we.
