Goff was a BEAST against Minnesota last week.

I think I counted 1 bad pass.

He looked super calm and was just dealing the cards.

Their oline is very good and they has a good running game. Goff is in a good spot.

I thought the Goff question was;
Which direction does the sun come up?

East or West ?

.

in all seriousness i said at the time of the trade that goff getting away from mcvay's enormous shadow was the best thing to ever happen to him. if he had stayed with mcvay he would not have received any credit for anything. now he's his own man the rest of the league can see him for what he is, a good qb.

the trade worked out for everyone. mcvay was happy because stafford was the exact type of qb he wanted. the rams are happy as they won the superbowl. the lions are happy because they finally seemed to have turned the corner. goff is happy because he can take control of his career.

.
Tbh amongst lions fans he still doesn't get any credit. That belongs to Ben Johnson who was a nobody b4 Goff got there. Some ppl just refuse to believe jg is just a damn good qb.

If the Lions improve their defense next year they can be very good. They are competitive now. Goff is playing well in an offense that plays to his strengths. I'm happy for him. I told friends before the season that the Lions could win 9 games this year and they can if the sweep the rest of their games. I think 8-9 is at least realistic for them.

Improve that secondary and get another premium pass rusher and that team can be dangerous. The Lions are no longer a doormat. Holmes is doing well in his team building.
They could use 5 good to very good defensive players to make this team extremely dangerous

Just admit it, you hate Goff...:laugh4:

I'd be happy for the Lions and Goff if they made the playoffs. But I won't look forward to the inevitable "Goff made the playoffs and Stafford didn't!"

Big Goff fan here but that said I wont be rooting for any more Lions wins unless the Rams lose another game, or get mathematically eliminated somehow else

I will only say that Goff was better than a lot of people on this board gave him credit for

A few on here have said he is either a bottom 5 QB or even that he will be out of the league in a year or two

Those are the only posts that I completely disagreed with.

Well we do have an outside chance.

If Washington beats the Giants, we need the following to happen so that we get clearly in and not have to worry about tie breakers

We have to win out

Detroit has to lose 3 of their 4 games (however I can see them beating the Panthers and Bears) Jets and Packers being the other two

Seattle has to lose to KC Jets and us

Giants have to lose to Vikings Colts and Eagles

Carolina has to lose two of three to Steelers Buccaneers or Saints - they need to beat Detroit

Atlanta needs to lose to two of the following 4 teams - Saints Raven Cardinals Buccaneers

New Orleans needs to lose to Browns or Eagles

Cardinals need to lose to Buccaneers or 49ers or Broncos

I'm fully aware of their chances, that's why I cant root for Detroit to win any more games, unless......

Whats also crazy about Goff's rebound in Detroit is that he was handed literally the worst group of WR I've ever seen.
Then they picked up Reynolds, St Brown came in to his own and things really came togehter
Of course it looked like another setback for JG when they traded Hockenson away (why werent the Rams in on THAT??) and it hasnt affected him at all

Goff getting traded was probably the best thing for him. I don't think he was working hard last year with studying the game/tapes etc.

He said he needed to work harder in Detriot. I imagine a lot fewer distractions in Detriot. He looks more confident in the last 5-6 games. Good protections really help Goff from making those desperate throws that result in turnovers.

The Lions are now a fun team to watch with Goff leading the way.

I was just giving a run down of what needs to happen

And looking at everything, although unlikely, it is not out of the realm of possibility that it could happen
