Tbh amongst lions fans he still doesn't get any credit. That belongs to Ben Johnson who was a nobody b4 Goff got there. Some ppl just refuse to believe jg is just a damn good qb..
in all seriousness i said at the time of the trade that goff getting away from mcvay's enormous shadow was the best thing to ever happen to him. if he had stayed with mcvay he would not have received any credit for anything. now he's his own man the rest of the league can see him for what he is, a good qb.
the trade worked out for everyone. mcvay was happy because stafford was the exact type of qb he wanted. the rams are happy as they won the superbowl. the lions are happy because they finally seemed to have turned the corner. goff is happy because he can take control of his career.

They could use 5 good to very good defensive players to make this team extremely dangerousIf the Lions improve their defense next year they can be very good. They are competitive now. Goff is playing well in an offense that plays to his strengths. I'm happy for him. I told friends before the season that the Lions could win 9 games this year and they can if the sweep the rest of their games. I think 8-9 is at least realistic for them.
Improve that secondary and get another premium pass rusher and that team can be dangerous. The Lions are no longer a doormat. Holmes is doing well in his team building.
Just admit it, you hate Goff...They could use 5 good to very good defensive players to make this team extremely dangerous

I'd be happy for the Lions and Goff if they made the playoffs. But I won't look forward to the inevitable "Goff made the playoffs and Stafford didn't!"
Well we do have an outside chance.Big Goff fan here but that said I wont be rooting for any more Lions wins unless the Rams lose another game, or get mathematically eliminated somehow else
I'm fully aware of their chances, that's why I cant root for Detroit to win any more games, unless......Well we do have an outside chance.
If Washington beats the Giants, we need the following to happen so that we get clearly in and not have to worry about tie breakers
We have to win out
Detroit has to lose 3 of their 4 games (however I can see them beating the Panthers and Bears) Jets and Packers being the other two
Seattle has to lose to KC Jets and us
Giants have to lose to Vikings Colts and Eagles
Carolina has to lose two of three to Steelers Buccaneers or Saints - they need to beat Detroit
Atlanta needs to lose to two of the following 4 teams - Saints Raven Cardinals Buccaneers
New Orleans needs to lose to Browns or Eagles
Cardinals need to lose to Buccaneers or 49ers or Broncos
I was just giving a run down of what needs to happenI'm fully aware of their chances, that's why I cant root for Detroit to win any more games, unless......
