You can compare half the players playing tonight against former first round picks, just doesnt make sense man. All good though, no ill will, we both want best for the rams.
Yea its literally a discussion board. We discuss Rams players in the context of the system.

Don't read too much into it bro. If Stafford had made that play after a game I would use him as a reference.

Perkins did some nice things, but a good discussion point is whether he can make the bread and butter plays in our system that other QB's commonly make. Tonight showed he couldn't on two consecutive plays.

Maybe he gets better. Maybe he doesn't have the arm. I am clearly rooting for him though.

Good to be watching Rams football again.

My HEADLINE:
Rams need to go find a RB2
Hell give me Larry Roundtree III over the one arm tackled, ankle tackled no power guys we ran out there tonight. That's not going to cut it. Henderson going down would be a nightmare. Our backs were also getting pin-balled in pass block. Yeah the blocking was sloppy and mostly nonexistent but these guys aren't the answer this year.

It's hard to say this the piss poor run blocking, but I agree.

The backup Rb's don't look like NFL starters or even Malcolm Browns.

I agree and don't take it the wrong way, might have come across a bit crass but not my intention. I like Perkins but in my eyes everytime they showed his face behind center he looked nervous, so I think he was hindered by his nerves of trying to be perfect or something, showed flashes of his ability but was too worried he'd mess up and it hindered him. Just my opinion and I get yours. But he was on the practice squad for a reason. Definitely have more confidence in him as our #3 over ducky boy. I like he has a run element too him as well. If we down to our #3qb chances are we fkd no matter who it is lol

Let's do a vent thread.

Some of us need to get out the personal attacks and exaggerated opinions so we can get our ban warnings and be ready for civil posting in the regular season :zany:

Can anyone here imagine lining up vs that SF defense with Jones, Funk or Calais in the backfield? Yikes. Even with starters blocking it would be run to the sideline and get crushed over and over.

Funk looks like a guy who "might" develop i guess, but i don't see it fellas. Not fast, not shifty, not strong. Showed some good hands and effort. Jones looks like JAG to me. Calais is a ST guy maybe.

Its all good. Definitely like him over the duck boy.

He probably was nervous and it was just one game so it's too early to judge. Just a few passes of a few possessions.

Lot's of great plays by him as well.

Yea Funk didn't impress at all in preseason game 1 with his limited carries.

Not writing him off yet, lots more preseason left.

I didn't like how Jones went down after first contact. Showed some moves when in space but at best will be a Malcolm Brown type runner without the power but might run better after the catch than Malcolm Brown.

I was disappointed with Funk because he showed no quickness but he was tough to take down after the 1st hit.

Calais - speed back only who if given space is gone.

Funk runs hard and apparently has speed if he gets some daylight, but I was very underwhelmed by the HBs. This group won't cut it. They need to make a move.

I have felt we needed a RB from outside for some time now. But I also don't think we just got a fair look at them. On obvious run downs the Chargers were run blitzing and running free to the ball carrier and nobody looks good in that situation.

So I agree but I don't dislike our top 3 or anything. I just think the injury risk is a problem and maybe pass pro too but gotta see them with better OL to know for sure.

A lot of positives tonight as most of ya'll covered.
Lawler, Perkins, Atwell, Harris, Jones, that CB who flashed early(forgot the name). I actually think the depth guys on D played okay after settling down.

Staley blitzed more than you would expect for preseason. Both Alaric Jackson and Anchrum looked pretty good in this game. With teams needing help at OT there is no way Alaric clears waivers now. It looks like Evans' roster spot might be in jeopardy.

T. Jackson might clear waivers but WR needy teams like Detroit might put claims on him. The fact that Benny Sko didn't play tonight tells me he's expected to make this roster as the #6 WR.

Neither Perkins or Hodges impressed enough to worry about keeping. Hodges, issues with decision-making were on display as was Perkins being slow in his reads. With Wolford entrenched at #2 I think they will pick up a QB after the last cuts to put on the PS. Perkins probably clears waivers if they choose to keep him one more year. Perkins isn't a pocket passer and probably never will be. Both QBs were late with their throws. Perkins was more accurate but even he had problems with consistency.

Anderson isn't making this roster. He's strictly a camp body right now. Calais looks like the Ram KR guy. I think both Funk and Jones will rotate in relief of Henderson.

Jonah Williams looked good at DE. His speed was evident as was his size and strength. Brontae Harris' lack of long speed was clearly evident. Morris looks like he's going to play Rapp as a coverage LB as he was doing likewise with Gervase.

The lack of true ILBs left the interior exposed to the inside runs. Morris needs to refocus his priorities on how he plays early and short yardage downs. McVay can't be happy that the run defense was so poor.

I know it was all backups but Morris' secondary wasn't played as aggressively as Staley's version most of the time. When it was the difference was clearly evident. Raheem's choice of some players seems off. His use of Daka, Banks, Copeland and Moncrief is what seemed off. Lawler isn't an OLB nor is he an edge, he's an iLB who could have helped vs the run. His QB pressures were the results of coverage. He lacks the speed to play as an edge and at times it showed. He wouldn't duplicate that level of play vs first string offensive fronts.

Will Morris adapt? Pre-season isn't just for players. It's for coaches too allowing them to adjust how they uses their players to get the most out of them.

Was about to ask about the RB's, but then scrolled up and checked some posts. Seems we may need someone to back up Henderson?

I agree with most of this and saw the game the same.

But Lawler as an ILB? I don't know what to say about that.

Lawler might not have the pass rush ability to be a starter but that's just one small part of the edge job.

Being able to be stout vs the run and shed blocks is very valuable vs teams such as the Niners.

I can see Lawler can fill a rotational goaline and run downs role.

And not that Lawler has Floyds speed but Floyd had bad sack numbers before getting a chance in the Aaron Donald cleanup universe. Lawlers ability to shed and chase, and play with contain as he showed today has value on the edge.

the back up interior line sucked and the Rbs need upgrading.
Harris will be money, but he has to not fumble. Atwell is intriguing. Perkins definitely over Duck. The D was good when they went Man to Man, but zone just let the chargers beat us a little bit at a time.
