There is a ton of stuff between Optimism and Pessimism (more appropriate than cynicism).
For instance, there is Realism which often comes with maturity, knowledge and experience.
The only issue I have with the pessimism or cynicism (way I see it) in this case seem to be the failure to see the value of what the team received via this trade and the lack of consideration of what could possibly be done with that selection. Again they aren't locked into keeping and using that selection.
