We can get depth players in the 6th round... think Tyler Davis, whittington, karts, etc

The numbers in a trade are likely a bit different. Jackson’s contract is a rare one in which the Rams opted to prorate the 2025 roster bonus a year early. I believe in a trade the team would carry the proration from this year but not the acceleration from 2026. If traded the Rams would get a credit in 2026 for prorated money that counted against the cap in 2024 and 2025 (and 2026 if that does indeed accelerate). So my assumption is the dead money in a trade would be $8.5M with some credit the following year.

If Jackson can stay healthy this is a good deal for the Bears. While Jackson is expensive he's also very good at the Guard position. While I'm not totally stoked on the trade because we lack depth, I'll take it because I trust the FO to draft well.

I'll be interested what our Cap situation is like once Staffords #s come out and Kupp is moved. Seems like we'll have a good amount of cap space to work with this year.

14.6M in cap savings is even more than I expected. Only 5.6M dead hit. Great deal getting out of that. This savings probably offsets the increase we gave to Stafford this year (guessing 10-15M…but hoping it’s only 5-8M).

I don't know that the above-reported $14.6M cap savings in 2025 is correct ... Hope so but that seems high.

I'm assuming once Stafford's details come out it'll eat another $10-15 mil off that number but not bad. With us trimming a ton of room off of 2026 there's plenty of space for us to sign a few good free agents this year with lower first years.
