Heard some interesting things here in AZ. That the Cards are signing Kyler to trade him. They went 2-1 with Colt McCoy starting last year. They view him as a bridge QB for a young QB they will draft or sign off of someone's PS.

Interesting because it makes sense. They extended their GM and Kliff but are dragging their feet with Kyler. Something to watch.

IMO they saw how far they can go with Kyler. He might get them into the playoffs as a wildcard but that's about it. The question is how much is just that worth in terms of long-term money for Kyler. If they only sign him to his 5th-year option, IMO that means they will try to trade him. If he's signed long term they will try to ride him as far as he can take them, i.e. wildcard playoffs are good enough. That said they can get that from McCoy for a lot less.

At this moment the Rams IMO are a lock in the NFCW.

It's entirely possible they move on from Murray. The timing of his demands could not be worse. At this point what is the value in paying him such a large portion of the team cap only to inevitably watch him cry about how the team isn't good enough around him after that.

I'd bring in a WCO type to maximize his value with moving pockets and some misdirection. But I honestly don't know if I'd pay him. That would come down to the question of is he a fucking asshat in the locker room. And just general feel from working with the guy thus far.

But I could see them moving on and it's probably the best approach. Problem is if that's the case then just like with Seattle why didn't you fire your coach. And why did you extend that shit GM. What a fucking mess Arizona is. Never root for a Bidwill team IMO, not sure how any fan can waste their time with an owner like that.

Source this speculation.
I haven't heard anything like this but I'm out of the loop this week as far as local sports media....

Keim moving on from Murray after doing the same with Rosen should cost both him and Klifford their jobs but they just got 5 year extensions. I just can't see them justifying that to Bidwell.

Keim should have been shit canned after the drinking incident.

But if he wants to trade Murray, then I agree with him. Leadership is numero uno. Ask anyone who played with Cutler.

It would be interesting to see what kind of market would be there for Murray. There's some desperate teams out there.

They might be upset with the late season collapses, but what's the alternative? When Murray is on his game, he's good enough to carry that team. You get "first half of the season" Murray for an entire season, and he's an all-pro caliber QB.

I hope they do move on, though. Good luck with the next Josh Rosen.

The catch is all that money. Do you pay a guy who is disinterested in the locker at half time, points fingers instead of leads the team, and gives up when things get too hard? I couldn’t do it. I’d ride it out to see if he matures but he’s talking about getting paid now.

I wonder if he wants the guaranteed money to kick in them bolts for baseball.

If I'm a decision maker for the Cards I'm looking at the coach to find a way to make it work and get this guy motivated. As far as any contract issues go that's a good point but even if you trade him for a bounty of picks I don't think that's worked out very well for any teams recently.

My source is a guy that works for a national scouting company that is used by teams to supplement their own scouting departments. After Dean Spanos hired a lot of his family to give them jobs and leverage them for support within the family, the Charger scouting went to hell. They had several poor drafts so they finally turned to one of these companies. Consequently, the Charger drafts improved.

The particular company my friend works for is often used by the Cardinals as a consequence he's in contact with their FO in particular the types of players they want in any particular draft. Yes, there is a lot of speculation. But would they be looking at QBs if they were set at that position? He made the point about Kyler's 5th year extension. If they want him for the long term then it will be more than just next year, it will be a legitimate multi-year contract. His opinion is after 3 years you can see what you have and don't have in a player. In the case of Kyler, I have to agree. His inability to read defenses beyond his initial 2 reads is troubling. His immature demeanor is troubling. He's 24 but he still acts like a teenager.

Frankly, as a Ram fan, I wouldn't be concerned if he remains the Card's QB for years. The Rams know exactly how to beat him.

You just said the exact reason I would move on. I shouldn’t have to motivate my franchise QB.

Bye bye.

Maybe but teams that base real life decisions off of platitudes without compromise are going to find themselves limited in the long run.

Murray has been the best player in his state most of his life. He lived in Texas, where he was idolized since 9th grade. This continued in college and then in the beginning of his NFL career.

Some guys remain mature and humble through all of that and a lot of others come out entitled and self centered. It sounds like he is the latter. Can any coach fix that? I don’t think so.

It's almost as if the other GM's in the division realize the Rams window is wide open so they may as well rebuild now....
