For the first time in my posting life I want a RB early, on the assumption the best guys are there early.

This offense is so different with a running game. We need a guy that can take over a game. The Rams know what that looks like. We’ve had it many times. Gurley was the last example. Go get THAT guy if he’s there, even if early.

If he’s not there then don’t force it.

But the right RB can be a game changer. It’s not all on the oline.
The right pass rusher can change a defense. Whenever we had somebody at Edge to support AD our defense has been next level.

That might be the right approach. :thumbsup1:

I just prefer an offense heavy draft.

Which is fine, the Raheem thread is very entertaining and I'm wondering how many years we can keep it active :D

So we should find that in one of the first two picks!

I prefer a quality draft. If that means more offense I'm on board. More defense? Same thing. What's our best chance at talent/quality in the first 3 rounds? RB-WR-TE on offense, Edge-CB-S on defense. Some combo of those would be welcomed.

If the Rams want to improve on our running game, then first build the OL infrastructure which will support it. RB's have relatively short careers, the Rams are building for 2024 and beyond, why spend high today on a top RB that will face increased injury odds for a team that isn't likely moving towards post season play now ? Akers is heading into free agency following this season, squeeze everything he's worth out of him during his contract year as he's shown he can produce, just give him a couple big healthy OG's who won't get him buried in the backfield as he's being handed the ball. Malcolm Brown was lost during this years free agency, he's the guy to replace this season while we wait on replacing Akers next year, so find that late round big (215 lbs. +) quick, menacing RB who can deliver on short yardage plays, catch, block and bring the heat.
Right or wrong, Rams don't seem to want to invest in Oline when so many players were hurt last year they couldn't legitimately self scout them. The really want to see what Bruss and Jackson have and to a lesser extent whether Noteboom can handle a season at tackle.

With a $20M cap hit in 2024 Noteboom is the biggest one they want to figure out no lesser extent at all with him. That has to be their primary focus on the OL with a 1st rounder next year You either have Boom at LT or you can use that 1st on his replacement and cut him to save $5 million. Actually depends on the roster bonus, I don't see whether it's guaranteed or not, it could save $10 million next year if he's not the answer.

That's fine, but the Rams currently have 9 total offensive linemen, and this is a number some teams have been known to carry on their 53 roster alone. Last year we carried 17 OL, although a few were on IR, still I expect we'll add to our current number, whether they'll be from the draft, UDFA's or the next round of cheap free agents is anyone's guess.
Bruss, Anchrum, Arcuri & Zach Thomas are pretty difficult to pencil in as starters based on last years injuries and snaps, Noteboom may also be questionable following his ACL, at least early, so I for one hope we add a few solid pieces to this unit.

Yeah, we'll grab some but probably 5th round or later unless a Torrance drops.

I'm honestly currently expecting Torrence to be our pick at 36. I feel like he drops to the 2nd round. He's a fantastic prospect however, I also feel like Schmitz and/or Avila may drop to our 3rd round pick, which would be a steal IMO, but, if we already used a prize asset on Torrence, I can't see them using another high pick on the IOL.

I have a gut feeling we will be drafting a RB and trading Akers on draft day
Possible if they get a guy they really believe in, especially if he's a clear bellcow type like Charbs. But Akers has a lot of value in his contract season. His back is against the wall here and he has to produce. So that pressure + his talent = keep the guy around, capitalize on him giving everything to get that contract, and let him leave in FA so we get a nice comp pick.

If he has a big season (1100+ yards from scrimmage) I think we'd give him a second round tender in 2024.

I cant see why a team would trade for an RB in a draft that has a bunch of good prospects. I suppose the recent approach of "Buy High, sell Low" could come in to play and they trade him for a 2025 6th rounder, but I really hope that's not the case

I think it's possible just due to hard feelings from whatever might have been said last year. Things we don't get to know about but I have a feeling there were some harsh words at the very least so I think the Rams are going to be very practical with Akers. Ride him if he produces, but have a Plan B waiting in the wings from this draft if he falters in any way.

Could be, although I think there was some conflict with Henderson, the Rams went with Akers and he produced.

RB at 36? I don’t THINK so.

Chiefs found this Pacheco kid in the 7th and he helped take them to a SB victory.

Quality RB’s, starting quality RB’s can be found into at least the 6th round of this draft.

Let’s don’t overthink this, y’all.

I hope the Rams don't just draft a RB at #36.

But, if they can draft a WEAPON that happens to play RB then I'll be thrilled.

That's the difference I think most miss.

You mean like Tutu Atwell - lol

No thanks Zach Charbonnet will be just fine. I don’t know if he returns kicks, but can’t see Tutu as a KR guy.

Who will return punts (Kupp) ? Yeah Tutu got injured in 2021 as a PR guy. Still think he is a better option

How could a tiny WR be considered a weapon?

I'm thinking EDGE first then best player available at RB, CB, OL, then look for those late round WRs and QBs
