How could a tiny WR be considered a weapon?
When Jeff Fisher is in charge of the draft?

RB at 36? I don’t THINK so.

Chiefs found this Pacheco kid in the 7th and he helped take them to a SB victory.

Quality RB’s, starting quality RB’s can be found into at least the 6th round of this draft.

Let’s don’t overthink this, y’all.
I guess the same can be said for CBs since Jaylen Watson was also had in the 7th round by the Chiefs in the same draft. And this is a deeper CB draft.

This draft is going to be one for the ages in regard to surprises. The post-draft threads will be epic,
Not one of us has a clue as to what the F.O will do. The opinions regarding what we should do are as diverse as I can ever remember from the players we should take to the positions we should prioritize.

It's been that way with the Rams for as long as I can remember. I can never guess which direction they will go.

somewhat agree, but this draft the board is all over the map too. This one feels kooky but it may become clearer as we get closer

Lions GM Brad Holmes references Todd Gurley when taking RB high in draft, hints at Bijan Robinson in top 10

Where Bijan Robinson is selected in the 2023 NFL Draft will be one of Day 1's most intriguing storylines. Arguably one of the top-five players in the draft, no running back has been selected in the top 20 of the NFL Draft since Saquon Barkley in 2018.

Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes believes that's going to change this year. Holmes didn't rule out the Lions potentially selecting Robinson at No. 6 overall, one of two first-round picks in the draft for Detroit (Lions have the No. 18 pick as well).

"If you think the player is that good and he's out there producing for you, I don't think anyone is gonna look back and say -- I don't think anybody said in 2016 or '17 or '18, 'Oh man Todd Gurley was picked at (No. 10).'

"He was just a really good running back and he was one of the top prospects in the draft. We didn't really bat an eye about it."

Holmes was in the Los Angeles Rams' front office when they selected Gurley 10th overall in 2015. While Gurley was out of the league at 27 years old, he was arguably the best running back in football before injuries started to plague him. Taking over the league when Sean McVay became the head coach of the Rams, Gurley rushed for 2,556 yards and 30 touchdowns in the 2017 and 2018 seasons -- as the Rams won two NFC West titles and advanced to Super Bowl LIII. Gurley also had 123 catches for 1,368 yards and 10 touchdowns during that stretch.

Gurley's decline started near the end of the 2018 season and spiraled immediately after -- as the knee issues played a role in his production being diminished. Of the 10 running backs with 400-plus carries from the 2019 and 2020 seasons, Gurley was last in yards per carry (3.67) and rushing yards (1,535). Yet, he was fourth in rushing touchdowns (21) during that span.

Gurley had three 1,000-yard seasons, two first-team All-Pro Selections, three Pro Bowls, and an Offensive Player of the Year award. He led the league in rushing touchdowns and scrimmage touchdowns twice -- and yards from scrimmage once. Yet, Gurley was out of football after just six seasons.

The Rams only had Gurley for five of those years, but got significant production for a few seasons. Gurley wasn't a bad pick, but he didn't last long in the league.

Will Robinson suffer the same fate? The longevity doesn't seem to matter for Holmes.

"They're all football players," Holmes said. "If they can help you, they can help you."

Personally, I'd try to trade down with at least one of our Day 2 picks, pick up a couple Day 3 picks, and then take a HB early on Day 3. I think Chase Brown would be perfect if he falls to the 4th round. Tyjae Spears is another name to watch. Although, he might go on Day 2.

Honest question, Memphis.

In your informed opinion, do Rams have greater need at CB/Edge or at RB? Assuming all candidates are rated more or less equally.

I'm not big on Brown, but Spears would be pretty damn nice. But please, make sure his knee checks out 100%. He's had 2 ACL/MCL tears and Gurley is still fresh in my mind.

I'm honestly currently expecting Torrence to be our pick at 36. I feel like he drops to the 2nd round. He's a fantastic prospect however, I also feel like Schmitz and/or Avila may drop to our 3rd round pick, which would be a steal IMO, but, if we already used a prize asset on Torrence, I can't see them using another high pick on the IOL.
My gut says if Torrence is there at R2.36 grab him. He looks to be a plug, play snd eventually dominating guard. Keep a Rams from going after a FA next year at OG.

If he drops, I think you take him cause I suspect many teams have a 1st round grade on him and would not be shocked if Rams do too. I just can't see the guy getting out of the 1st round. At all. There would have to be some funky things and some runs at certain positions.

I could certainly see it. There is even talk about Avila being the top IOL right now, because he's able to play all 5 positions and isn't pigeon holed into just OG.

I'm actually more and more intrigued by Avila also. The versatility would be very much appreciated on this line.

Trade down seems likely I agree. Definitely prefer that unless there's a guy I really like still on the board when we're up.

Spears btw is exactly the guy I could see McVay wanting. But this class has real nice depth to it, the kind of depth in fact where you can steer clear of a guy with the injury concerns he brings. In that range I prefer Miller, Tucker, maybe even Vaughn though the whining we'd get on the board would be unimaginable if we were to take that little bastid. :laugh2:

I'm liking Miller more as the draft gets closer. I really wish we had testing on him though.
