He always does that Jedi Knight mind control thing with his hand during his follow-through. I don't think I've seen another kicker do that, so I wonder if it's a coach-specific thing, or just a personal superstition or something.

.

I noticed it the first time I saw him kick on youtube. I always thought it was pretty cool. It probably helps him some way. haha. Hopefully one day we get the answer!

Prob uses his hand as a line of site tool on the ball to see where it lines up to the fieldgoal post

Probably. I was taught in little league (baseball) to end up pointing at the guy you're throwing to when you release the ball.

And that's bad coaching.......because then you have too little follow through on the throw and that means less mustard.

I think he does it out of habit you know.....one of those things he always done and its comfortable for him.

Think last year someone pointed out that he wasnt following thru with his hand like that in the Miami game and a few games after that. Then his kicking coach from college pointed it out to him and he righted the ship after (sort of)

Yeah, I think it's the shoulder that should be pointed as part of your follow through after you release. Not sure how you know where your hand is pointed while still in motion. But I only went through Babe Ruth as a pitcher and short stop. And that was a lot of years ago.

BTW. I think that is a common pose for kickers after a FG. I could be wrong though.

Not necessarily. That was only applicable when I played infield and threw to first. I didn't pitch (much).

That creates stress on your arm too. Just saying. Yeah, I coached little league baseball and softball for years. Lol.

I miss playing softball. I gotta find a bar that has a coed league again.
