I’m a huge Rams homer. With that said, the remainder of this season will be to fully assess who can play next year and who needs to go. I truly believe we are an Edge and S away from an elite defense. And we are a LT, LG (maybe Jackson works) OC, RG, TE, WR2 and RB away from an elite offense.
Maybe KC will trade Blythe back to usOMG he was horrible, saw him give up 3 sacks. First one he acted like he didn't see #50, like he was looking for another guy to block... yeah right! Only things I can think of why McVay is keeping him is because he can play different positions and he has some experience. The rest of his grades are -0 maximum! At this point he's making Denby look all-pro.
Well my statement was in Blue Font so....Blythe is in Seattle as their starting C and Gaines will eat his lunch.

So, on this was Evans just acting like he was supposed to let the inside guy go so that we all wouldn't think he was supposed to block the inside guy...or was there supposed to be help on the inside and he was supposed to help outside?
Don't know enough to know for sure but wondering...
I think you're right. For every Roger Saffold there's probably a bunch more Bobby Evans and Joe Notebooms. Although Evans wasn't good at tackle either. He's just not a good lineman. That play looks as awful in that still-shot after the fact as it did live on the replays, but I recall reading somewhere that Evans was indeed supposed to pass off his man to the centre on that play. Can anyone with o-line expertise chime in?
One thing I will say in Evans' defence as everyone piles on (not unfairly so IMO) - he is not a guard. He's a tackle. It isn't as easy as everyone thinks to just slide over. Especially at this level. Offensive linemen that can do it and remain effective are worth their weight in gold, which is why I wanted to retain Saffold and was comfortable overpaying a bit to do it. But let this be a lesson to Snead and McVay - we need more true guards on this roster. We seem to overwhelming draft OTs to convert. Not always the best approach. Different physical builds typically.
Maybe he made a business decision? If you pass off, you need to at least slow the guy down so the center can get over in time
Yup. Notebroom was pretty awful at LG too. You cannot just assume you can draft tackles and plug them in at guard whenever necessary. Some tackles can do it. And there is nothing wrong with drafting a tackle in hopes he can play inside too. But we still need more true guards.I think you're right. For every Roger Saffold there's probably a bunch more Bobby Evans and Joe Notebooms. Although Evans wasn't good at tackle either. He's just not a good lineman.
Shoot I was looking at KC highlights the other day and Blythe was standing on the sidelines facing the bench smiling and I have to admit Evans makes me miss the guy, and Corbett. He's probably ecstatic with the Chiefs now.Maybe KC will trade Blythe back to us
