IF Anchrum is capable of moving laterally well enough to contend with premier edge rushers on the left side at OT and can use his low center mass and his strength to win leverage against the monster sized DL in the league.... then he would be an absolute miracle. But its a big if.

I'll be hoping for a very fast ilb with their first pick in round 2. That pretty much guarantees they won't go that route.
You know my position on the way the Rams need to go in the 2021 draft ........Go Defense to get value & to get instant on-field performance to help win now!

You might find this new Ram info nugget interesting reference your above post. This Saturday afternoon where Staley has just booted up an ILB'er from the PS. Derrick Moncrief!

This Moncrief can play safety/ILB/OSLB positions oozes with versatility & hybrid type player. Moncrief was an All-Star LB'er in the CFL. WE all here @ ROD were thinking we were short on ILB'ers with this current team. Rams have to make some adjustments on defense. Injuries to LB Og Okoronkwo, Rookies Jordan Fuller & Terrell Burgess plus CB Dont'e Deayon all on IR in addition the total drop off in play of former starting OLB Samson Ebukam. This defense has been running fluidly in change.

Staley brought in hybrid LB'er Justin Hollins to first play ILB'er then to help with Ebukam post @ OLB'er. Hollins has proved he has more bang for his snaps when he is in a position to rush the passer & seal the edge of the defense on outside runs. Both safeties Burgess & Fuller were getting many snaps playing up close in the ILB'er areas with Kenny Young trending down in his snaps with no back up behind him.

With the OLB'ers morphed into Floyd-Lewis-Hollins-Polite adding Moncrief to the interior LB'ing unit to run close with in conjunction with the safeties appears to be a good move. Moncrief is seriously light to play MLB'er since he is under 220 lbs so the weakside ILB post is most likely where we will see Him behind Young.

Don’t see that ever happening.Far fetched right now. Like playing the lottery. Just picking numbers.
Well, if I hadn't been watching football for over 50 years I would agree with you.
And if I hadn't lived through the 70s and watched incredible offensive line play from John Knox and in the 80s I watched John Robinson build an offensive line.
And then I was able to study and contrast it with the failure of the Fisher era.
And if you understand what the word *possibly* means.
And if I wasn't about 75% correct on how they would build this year's offensive line;
Blythe
Corbett
Looking for continuity.
Stating as an almost certain fact that they wouldn't draft an offensive lineman early this year.

Yeah.

If you don't include all that, it's EXACTLY like the lottery.

My guess is they will go inside linebacker.
Even if they're only a two or three down inside linebacker. :)

I don't see anything on defense we need the could impact the game more than that.

Unless they see a sure-fire left tackle. :zany:o_O

Snead has only 2nd & 3rd-day selections in 2021. Snead used his highest 2018 draft pick a 2nd-day 3rd rd pick (89th) on a pure left OT (Noteboom) in 2018. The following draft 2019 Rams again utilized another 2nd-day selection 3rd rd (97th overall) on another starting LT Bobby Evans. Here nearly midseason 2020, (like you stated) we still do not know if we have a capable starting LT between those two. Even if Noteboom does fulfill their expectations in 2021 you get one out of four yrs dividend in return. Noteboom is UFA after next season.

The time it takes to get a 2nd day drafted LT's fully developed in just 3 or 4 seasons & they are a very poor investment. It gets worse if you have back to back seasons on the IR too. Cursed! Before shooting into the darkness again for the 3 straight drafts on an LT I would want to know fully what we have in the two previous shootings. Snead got lucky with finding a decent starting OG with a 3rd day draft pick in 2019.. but that was an OG much easier to find.

Snead will get much bigger & much earlier returns on the field to help you win from investing the defensive side of the ball (ER's/ LB/CB DL'ers & safeties). When our team ends up always with less than most of the other NFL teams team's ammo in drafts you better get the best value in return for what little you have with those precious & all-important legal draft tender handed out by the NFL every year. Snead did well going after a seasoned known legit LT with salary cap funds with his Whitworth move did he not? The 9ers neutralized Aaron Donald in wk 6 with a well-seasoned salary cap $$ bought well season LT did they not?

Soul Surfer where am I wrong here? Please if you will help me comprehend a little more into your thoughts here.
I don't think you're wrong at all.
They can either decide Noteboom can pull it off at LT and try to re-sign him for a reasonable amount or pick up a free agent again.
Hell, we don't know if Whitworth could last another season.
He has already exceeded all expectations for us and I'm sure the Bengals regret letting him go.
Ranking the possibilities;
1)Whitworth plays another year.
2)They think Noteboom would be an upgrade and can handle the position.
3) pick up a free agent.
4) Evans or Edwards can handle the spot.

I don't really see a 6-1 Anchrum being even a possiblity.
A prototype left tackle would be about 6'5 minimum.

Anchrum will probably end up being a center/guard for us.

Go check my Rod account. I’ve watched all that. From the LBC. Legends!!!

I lost the bet on the draft.

Maybe I’m a broken record, but it’s been pretty obvious.Last season letting go of a John Sullivan was dumb.Andrew Whitworth said so himself after the season. That guy is a warrior on & off the field.Jared Goff will tell you what he has meant to his life.I saw those 3 bring this Offensive Line together.

Austin Blythe I said before the end of 2020 needed to comeback with Whitworth & was one of the first to say Whitworth was coming back, especially Guarantee it after The Zona game where he showed fire going against one of the best dE’s in the game. Think about last season & the DE’s he went against compared to 2020.A little easier. He has made a couple key mistakes this season, but sure is a GREAT!
Whitworth is one of the best FA signings The Rams have ever made. Robert Woods as well, because I don’t want to sell him short. That being said just like knowing Jackie Slater was a legend when he was practicing at UCI as well as where The Rams have been practicing training camp of late. Both are HOF guys.
Not sure if it was Wayne Gandy who was drafted to take Slaters place, but Noteboom looks to be the guy for Whitworth. For all the bashers who think he shouldn’t have been at guard I could what to do.It’s history know, but Kromer & Whitworth sure helped Roger Saffold become a real solid guard. If course he had the talent, but just that leadership showed him what that was.
Right now I’m not picking out numbers like they are lottery picks.Austin Blythe is right where he needs to be.Right now I don’t know if you ever move him to guard for what he has meant to The Rams.Ingo back to Smith playing center in the Amterdam in the Euro league. I put a very big wager on The Rams to when the SuperBowl at 150-1,but Trent Green was a main reason though.Kept the $5,000. That season scared me for life though that summer.Wish I never made that bet & stayed in NY or went to a friends Wedding in Ireland.
Any way last week The Rams playing against Nick Foles reminds me of the $45,000 I lost after double down again in Fisher. To think Robert Quinn would never even go 8-8 with The Rams? Saying The Rams would go over 6 1/2 & then over 7 wins for a season. The first Hardknocks showed us Fisher wasn’t even a 7-9 coach.
-Kromer(son & beach chair)has been a blessing & I like Dickerson being in the mix. They continue to build this O”Line & having a Kolone just working hard every season makes it a Lunchpail place.

And none of us know if he can be a long term answer at LT but you can’t deny in his limited time there he did well. For all we know they draft a LT next year and we never see him as the starter. I said after he got injured this year his continuing injury issues has worn on me. But he did well in his shot at LT, I won’t deny that.

Whatever his injuries? I was amazed he came back as fast as he did.The doubt I had before gives me less doubt know.I fact I’ll even make a better case of what a positive it all could mean.

In the world we live, timing could mean everything.Noteboom is not signed. I don’t know until when, but having Edwards taking over only gives The Rams more time to keep building for the future.
Noteboom should grow into the player we have thought he could be,it just might have taken longer.
Austin Corbett is on only a 4 year contract.Whitworth has a funky contract. I’m just glad Noteboom was a starter in 2020.

Very well said.

Noteboom to me is the future LT & by Kromer starter him at LG shows what Kromer thinks of BOOM.

TA will be the odd man out once BOOM is back. To think The Rams are counting on TA is crazy talk.
Who even knows what a game day injury to any of the players upfront & the rotation ? I would think I don’t even know what to think because I don’t want to think about injuries.

2020 has been a crazy year in general. If there were OTA’s & a preseason we would have a bettter idea.
Thinking about 2021 & not the FREAKING ING draft.Has the PAC 12 even played a FUCKING game yet ?

What will 2021 offseason even look like. More games & record books being changed? I see less & more of something, but you can guarantee changes.
