I think we got great value with the Anchrum pick, and he will eventually find a starting spot in years to come.

Very true, he was the guy getting LT snaps when Whit sat in camp. Could be interesting to see what he does next year in camp.

Last time I saw Edwards line up @ LT was in several 2019 preseason gms. I have never see Edwards line up @ LT in any regular-season games.

I would not think it would be a good idea to play Edwards @ LT in this Ram offense.
I would think that Noteboom will be a game-day active because he could potentially play four positions on the line.

I still haven't seen anybody else at center except Blythe.

I wonder who is the next man up?
Who have been the game-day active guys that can play center?

Do you know, Boni?

Pretty sure it's been Anchrum, Evans and Shelton as the active reserves. Leads me to think Corbett would be the backup center, Allen was inactive the last few weeks that I looked at.

My grades this season:
Edwards - B
Noteboom - C-

It’s a significant drop off when Noteboom is in. I haven’t lost hope on Notboom as a LT. He has the feet and brains. But his ability to sustain a block is nonexistent.

Edwards is only going to get better. Next year he will probably be 2x better . Since he started early on this season he is most definitely getting XP.

Of course Whit will return!! Rams can't afford to lose him and have no way to replace him at anywhere near his cost. And his leadership of the Oline can't be replaced at any cost.
He'll be 39 before the season is over, in OL years that's close to 100. It's all up to him and likely more importantly his wife and family. Would love to have him back but if they decide he's done best wishes to them.

No kidding like we can’t be thinking selfishly like fans. I mean we joke when we say Whitworth will be a Ram til he is 50, but deep inside I feel for this man being 38 soon to be 39 he has a family. Hope we can win the super bowl this year so he can retire happily.

If his wife and kids want him back home that's another story. And nothing is certain (as an old saying goes) except death and taxes.

But I don't see his age as a barrier yet. There have been some oline players who have played til they were 40. Not much obvious deterioration in Whitworth's overall effectiveness. His technical skills are very high. He looks better to me than he did last year, probably because he got his ankle cleaned up. Obviously he is training in a very effective way. Don't see him falling off a physical cliff in the near future unless he is injured.

I don't ever want to see Noteboom starting at guard for the Rams ever again. I don't even want to see him at OLT in the future. Thinking a guy who is a poor blocker would block better if moved outside is a pipedream.

I believe Shelton would be the backup Center, played it at Washington and if Blythe is not extended could get a look at that position next season.

Agree 100%.....thus far it sure looks like he was another late 3rd-day draft steal like Jordan Fuller. OT Tremayne Anchrum came to us by Sneadway with so many real big NCAA games & Championships on his resume but so very short in size. Wonder who else came to us being way too short??

Just how many 6-1 7/8ths 315lbs OT's is there starting in the NFL? He was one of the best players on Clemson’s Championship elite offensive line. Pats starting LT Wynn is 6-2 3/4's @ 310lbs. But one item to note in TA's favor is he has longer arms than Wynn. TA is also much stronger. TA played all 11 gms his freshman season starting several of them. He then started the next 3 seasons & started 44 gms. The issue for TA is his lack of experience playing OG.

Kromer from all known written information likes shorty TA playing on the LEFT side @ LT & some LG. Another example of taking a starting college RT & flipping them to the left side like Edwards. Its only opinion but it's my belief that Anchrum is & will be Kromer's top Reserve Swing OG from this season's bye & well into the future.

I would not consider Noteboom a good game day four post reserve. Noteboom is not made of NFL OG material. Noteboom would be a good Swing OT reserve. But Kromer already has a true RT reserve in Bobby Evans. Better for the Rams future if Noteboom sticks to working just one post....LT! The top back up reserve center is Coleman Shelton. Brian Allen looks like trade bait to catch 2021 3rd day draft selection to me. Shelton is a very capable versatile OL'er who started all five OL posts in college. Kromer also has two interior OL'ers Cabral & Kolone who are centers signed on the Practice Squad.
I'm just glad to see more depth on the OLine.
Best OL depth in many decades!

Then I would suggest that all efforts be made to PRESERVE & maintain the current soon to be 39 yr old Andrew Whitworth as best as possible. Wearing him out with 100% of the offensive snaps when this team has two young LT reserves {Noteboom & Evans} active seems not smart. LT Noteboom needs to begin to see some LT snaps from this point on. Increasing his LT snaps in games where the Rams are in front & maximum amount of running the ball is required. The long term payoff dividends might be HUGE!

The rookie LT Noteboom did get offensive snaps in the regular season & yes Noteboom performed without any mishaps or issues. His 2018 rookie preseason was also sound. Why would we think that the Noteboom 2020 LT version would not be as good?

I wonder who has the top-performing run blocking OL?

Bonifay’d- will see how the season plays out. I think your looking to closely.
Edwards has earned the starting post.I’m glad Noteboom got those snaps. I think Old School looked at it best with the 48 game day roster.
TA was said to be a steal in 2020 draft by Kromer.
Allen never really hasn’t been a Ran type guy. Goff knows that & doesn’t like his feel behind him. There gaming days are over.

Looking Too Closely? At what time? When the season plays out? or now? Where & How am I looking at it too closely? Can you possibly clarify? I would be interested in your thoughts.

I agree with your LG David Edwards comment. I was not glad that Noteboom got two starts & all those snaps @ LG. I would have preferred him seeing him get a few snaps @ LT instead when its possible. I would have preferred David Edwards to have continued where he left off last season as a starting OG like he is now.

So your thoughts to @Soul Surfer question as to which of the Rams active OL'ers would be the first OC (Austin Blythe) back up is in line with @OldSchool 's opinion? That would be starting RG Corbett? Rams do not list OL'ers specifically. OL'ers as OL'ers no specifics. I might have missed something from McVay or Kromer where there have been comments that Austin Corbett being the backup center?

I have never seen Austin Corbett playing center or ever snapping the ball in a game ....be it a pre-season or regular season. I have seen Coleman Shelton do both of those. Is the thinking that IF Blythe was unable to play center that Corbett would be the new center & the Kromer would have a new starting RG...two different starting Ol'ers @ new starting positions? I do know that Corbett has been performing very well @ RG. PFF has him graded out overall @ RG @ 71 with zero Penalties & only one sack allowed after 7 games. Not sure who would replace Corbett @ RG. Both Corbett & Havenstein (PFF grade 75.9) have been performing very well together...hard to see Kromer breaking up that duo.

Question for you here.....in the game that OC Brian Allen was injured.... Corbett was a reserve OL'er. When the injury took place, Corbett did not take up the OC position. Blythe was instantly moved into OC & it was Corbett who became a starting OG.

After wk #10 Allen & Havenstein injuries, Kromer went with just two active OL'ers for the rest of the 2019 season. Those two were Chandler Brewer & Coleman Shelton. OG Jamil Demby was on the master roster but never active after wk #6. Who was the backup reserve center after wk#10 in 2019?

Shelton started 50 gms for Washington. He was the starting center for his last two seasons & started 26 gms & well known left-handed center. When Shelton was drafted by the 9ers he was drafted as an OC. When the Cards signed Shelton he was listed on the roster as a center. As a Cardinal, he started & played center in the 2019 preseason.

Putting an unproved Evans in at left tackle with Goff at quarterback would make me very nervous.

I could see going with Evans if we're blowing somebody out in the game and they go to our second string quarterback but I would be more at ease if Noteboom was getting those live reps to possibly get him ready for next year.

I'm going to be really interested to see who the game day actives on offensive line are.

I agree that Noteboom is not a guard but we know he can play it to a certain standard.

Then we need a center-guard type active as well.

I still somehow see Austin Corbett as a future Center if they don't re-sign Blythe.

Shelton is a little light in the ass, IMO

Could you imagine our run blocking if we had;

Whitworth / Noteboom LT
David Edwards LG
Austin Corbett C
Bobby Evans RG
Rob Havenstein RT

Of course, I'm looking ahead to next year possibly.
