Here’s how PFF saw the big win in Week 4
https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2018/...p-review-pro-football-focus-game-notes-week-4

DEFENSE

- Interior defender Aaron Donald has set a new career-high in quarterback pressures generated in a game by producing 13 against the Minnesota Vikingson Thursday night. His previous high came in the Rams’ playoff game the previous season. He earned a 93.6 overall grade and was the only defender to earn a grade above 85.0.

- Rookie edge defender John Franklin-Myers not only produced the strip-sack that ultimately ended the game against the Vikings, he also contributed his most pass-rushing snaps of the season (30) and two more quarterback pressures than he had all season (5) coming into Thursday’s game. Franklin-Myers has produced an overall defensive grade of 77.8 across the last two weeks, which currently ranks second among rookie edge defenders.

One would guess we will see much more of this rookie Edge Rusher from this point on.

THIRTEEN QB pressures in one game???

That's just mind-blowing...

That is the basis of our 3-4. There are 3 interior lineman and usually 2 edge rushers.
not what I was thinking, my idea was 5 down linemen. Like a combo of AD Suh Brockers JFM and Easly but looks like Easly is done.

I'm honestly thinking that, at the moment, we really don't have 3-4 personnel, so why not try 4-3 until Obo & Barron are back & firing on all cylinders? DL would be JFM - AD - Brock - Suh; Kiser MLB, Littleton & Barron SSLB & WSLB respectively?

Is Rookie John Franklin-Myers who is over 6-4 288 lbs really an Edge Rusher? I wonder just how much larger will JFM be this time next year? I would think close to 300 lbs would be a good bet. Rams started Ethan Westbrooks @ NT in 2017 & he is NT Suh's back up currently. JFM is little taller & a few lb more than Ethan.

Sure appears to be a real find by Snead's crew & a great 4th rd selection.(y)

He certainly is versatile, I'd be curious to see his snaps at each position. As for next season, I guess it depends on where Wade wants/needs him to play.

He's heavy-footed but honestly I still think our best edge option because he brings a power rush which is a bit different from some of the other dudes. He is similar to Longacre in that he's not an optimum blind side rusher. His natural position looks like 5T, but I'd say at OLB at best he is a left side type. But all that stuff goes out the window when he looks like he might be your best option (in a rotation) the rest of the way.

I have high hopes for Obo, just think he might end up being moved around as a depth guy for a while to get his feet wet. Sure would be nice to see him take to the position quickly though.

Seems to me looking down the road into next season......With the Rams being forced to replace All Pro veteran Ndamukong Suh NT & former starting NT & 5th yr veteran Ethan Westbrook the top DL'er in the rotation.......JFM is predestined to take up a starting position in the starting front 3 DL not as a Edge Rusher/OLB.

Starting DE (5 tech) Michael Brockers is set to return for one more season in 2019. With the Rams lost of both starter & back-up NT, I would say the writing is on the wall for Brockers to be our starter on the nose. The Rams did select in the 6th rd Sebastian Joseph-Day who is a NT. Thus far SJD has yet to see the field for a NFL game. SJD play in pre season was better than 2nd yr 6th rd'er (3 tech) Tanzel Smart who as of yet has been :poop:. RFA Morgan Fox who was our main back up @ DE (5 tech) in 2017 season is slated to return from the IR & IMO (if he is signed to a contract) will return to be the back up @ the 5 tech post again in 2019.

Projected 2019 DL:thinking:

DE-Franklin-Myers/ Fox
NT-Brockers/ Joseph-Day
DT-Donald/ Smart

I dunno, Boni...

I got this nagging feeling that after we win it all with so many pieces scheduled to remain in place, that somehow Suh might stay.

He really wants to be like Kroenke and having access to him may be worth more than a big contract in somewhere like Tennessee or wherever. That Miami experience might change his perspective going forward.

Also, McVay and Wade...

Also, if he moves, he'll be right back to the double and triple teams and won't have the same production. That kind of wear in the last contract isn't great for the body, so playing next to AD likely has significant after football benefits, especially if he ends his career on a back to back or 3 time SB winning team.

I'm not sold on Suh leaving I feel just by watching him with his mates and he seems different still plays with that edge but happy. Also Suh is on a 14 million plus incentive contract what's to say he wouldn't stay for another yer or ink a two year guaranteed type deal to remain with a winner be a part of this and also keep kronor on speed dial for other business dealings. You scratch my back I scratch yours???? Lastly Joyner will not be signed that's wt? 11.5 million that can go to Suh obviously with some additional cash but I would keep Suh over Joyner and roll the dice on safety. We may already have Joyners replacement on the roster or we can put our faith in draft one in the 3rd or even a free agent signing obviously safeties are a bargain.

With Barron back...one formation I think we'll see is on passing downs have Barron play MLB and have Littleton line up as an edge rusher... He's had some success doing that in the past...

I doubt Suh will take a big drop in his pay compared to elsewhere, especially since he is savvy, and knows that signing with a California team will hit him in taxes more than pretty much anywhere elsewhere.

One reason players go for the max contract is ego - getting a huge contract compared to others is an ego boost. And we know Suh is at least partially ego driven - he has made it clear over the years that it bothers him that Bradford was drafted before him. Among other things, he wants to earn a lot more than Bradford for his career (as well as hit Bradford on the field).

Keep in mind that Kroenke has to be careful about giving preferential treatment to a player in lieu of salary. The fact that we all know that Suh wants things from Kroenke means that every other team does too.

If the Rams had a ton of cap room next year, that would be one thing. But even with a discount, Suh would likely take over 1/3 of the Rams' cap space next year, with two starting guards, a starting safety, a starting middle linebacker, and multiple backups to replace, plus trying to get some stars like Peters signed early so that there is room for Goff and others the next year or two.

Suh won't take a huge discount...but for his substantial business relationships.... being in LA has some appeal to him even beyond being a part of what seems to be a solid young team.
