Fuck that.

He is worth a hell of a lot more than the Eagles got.

I don’t know how Wentz’s contract compares but he was sacked 50 times and threw 15 ints. QBR 49.6

Goff was sacked 23 and threw 13. QBR 58.5

They both were liabilities in 2020 but Goff was in a much better team.

Carson can be a very good QB in the right offense and with a decent O-line in front of him. Goff never was McVay's man. It's clear to me that Goff was never coached up, and was hand-tied by McVays's micromanaging his play. What QB has a coach in his ear until the last 15 seconds. That doesn't give the QB time to read the defense and change the call. Then McVay can't understand why Goff hasn't developed. If the Lions give him a legit QB coach he could blossom in the right offense.

IMO this was a Win-Win trade by the Lions and the Rams. McVay has a vet QB with an elite arm who is a perfect fit for his offense. I think we will see a modified 2018 version of McVay's offense with a return of the vertical game. The Rams receiving corps will probably be at least4-5 deep. They have some guys behind Woods, Kupp and Jefferson that look really good. Reynolds will be gone but IMO that's no real loss.

I'm excited to see Stafford play behind the Ram's o-line. Given time he's the kind of QB that can shred a secondary. Stafford really does make this a true SB contending roster.

Even with that situation Wentz played poorly IMO. I think the two QBs are very similar in fact. Both had early success to include great teams around them. Both got paid early which was a mistake by both franchises. And both had serious regression under pressure where their vision and decision making were suspect.

I think the value both were moved at reflects that their teams think they're not good enough. But just the fact that we could miss on Goff and then use him at least in part to get another shot at QB is a good thing. Same with Wentz. The fact the Eagles recouped some of that draft value they gave up for him helps soften the failed pick.

I thought the Eagles brought in Ciranni because it would provide the "Reich Touch" for Wentz. I now really question that coaching hire, and why wouldnt they have looked for the spread type mentality to mesh with Hurts

They're gonna blow next year.

Better deal for Eagles , sure, but are they actually a better team afterwards? I believe the Rams are, they were lucky to get a bag of chips for Wentz.

In McVays words, " were not trying to win trades, were trying to win the Superbowl." So it was worth it to him.
Eagles were fortunate that the Colts were interested due to the presence of Reich. Garafola said that no other team gave them an offer. The Bears might have, but Wentz didn't want to go there.

So the Colts gave them two picks, if he plays well next yr they will gladly give up a late first.

The fact that no other team was bidding for Wentz shows you what his value was.

From now on, when I read complaints about Les Snead giving away 1st round draft pics, I'm gonna fire back with Goff & Wentz.

Not only were these two cast offs drafted 1st round, but they were the #1 & #2 pics of the 1st round.

And what happens, both get dumped by their drafting teams in just 5 years time.

How many 1st Round draft pics did we give away for our stud qb Stafford? Well, my answer is NOT Enough!

F..k the draft 1st rounders. And if you don't like that, then I'll give you back a fist full of Goff & Wentz!

On another side note...interesting the 1st & 2nd picks of a draft both get dumped by their teams during the same off season. Who'd a thunk that 5 years ago?

The eagles get two draft picks for wentz while the Rams gave away three draft picks with Goff? Fuck off

yeah definitely make me wonder if we made a good trade as far as price goes but then i wonder about a lot of our trades

I don't get bent about this either.

Look how many of our later round picks we are afraid of loosing in FA.

This trade does shine a nice light on the Stafford deal. I'd rather give up two firsts for Stafford than a first and third for Wentz.

I was thinking same, looking back on that draft at 2 franchise QBs. They were to be forever linked, and the question is still out there, who was the better QB. While we can certainly argue for Goff, their chapters aren't over yet. Them both getting dumped off around the same time is another "whoda' thunk it."

This is why all the who won the draft who won the trade shite right after they happen cracks me up. Many of those big trades/draft projections aren't decided the week after.

it didn't turn out too bad for either team.

the rams made the playoffs in 3 of those years and made it to the superbowl. just fell short.

the eagles won a superbowl.

compared to what the rams were before the trade i'd say that's a win. and they're still contenders.

it's definitely a win for the eagles, their first superbowl win. even though they're a dumpster fire now.

What are the chances Wentz plays for 75% of the season? He is always getting hurt, maybe a solid OL can help, but I dont think it will.
Watt is gone. Do the defensive lines or linebackers in Houston, Tennessee, or Jacksonville scare anyone? As long as Reich tells Wentz to stay in the pocket, the Eagles are getting a first rounder in 2022.

I believe we play that Division next year. Our offense needs to show out.

I can't imagine anyone being remotely interested in that argument over which is better. But that said, of the three QBs two of them look primed to have a real nice team around them.

Stafford, according to reports, could have yielded the No. 8 overall pick in this year’s draft, plus additional later round picks, from Carolina. So, in essence, the Rams gave up two future first rounds picks (likely late in the round) for the equivalent of a top ten pick this year, plus the Lions taking Goff’s contract off our future books.

Had we instead, traded Goff for. 3rd this year and a conditional 2nd/1st in 2022, where would we be at QB?

I like our trade much better than the Eagles’ trade for Wentz (which also saddles them w/$11M more dead cap than we're left with).

This is the right focus. We paid more, got more. At least based on what we know today.

Where the math stings Ram’s fans... we were one team that paid... the Eagles got paid.

But... that leads to this post by @AvengerRam. Exactly. Where would we be?

Had we instead, traded Goff for. 3rd this year and a conditional 2nd/1st in 2022, where would we be at QB?

I am glad the Rams are going to be super competitive this year and continue to add to years of good football.

The Eagles are rebuilding. Glad we are not there.

And the thing is people say this shows Wentz value was greater than Goff. Well you have to look at the demand for each and that includes Stafford.

Both the Rams & Colts have playoff/ SB contending teams. They both felt they need QBs.

The Rams loved Stafford and were not afraid to overpay because they are ready to win now.

The Colts HC knows Wentz and believes in him. And thus they felt they could get a guy at a discount, yet he was still very desirable to that coaching staff. So they probably paid more than they wanted to or were fine with paying what they did because they feel they can fix him.

Detroit did not really need Goff, they are in rebuild mode. The Rams dealt him to top the high firsts that could have been dealt this yr by Carolina or SF for Stafford. So Detroit takes a flyer on Goff as he might fix their QB needs and he is only 26... Or he could be a future trade chip for them.

I dunno. Even with two firsts, likely in the 20s both years if not 32, the offer from us without Goff wasn't NEARLY as good as the Carolina offer.

I don't doubt that Brad Holmes WANTED Goff.

He's got the pedigree for it. He's a quiet leader who helps build up franchises. He did it at Cal and he did it with the Rams.

I think he can do it with the Lions, especially with the QB coach they hired. I think with our turnover, the OC and QB coaching may have lagged a bit for what Goff needed.

I'm THRILLED Stafford is coming.

And, I take Holmes at his word that they WANTED Goff. And if they can get him back to 2018 Goff, they've got a steal of a trade done.
