Eagles agree to trade QB Carson Wentz to Colts for two draft picks

From now on, when I read complaints about Les Snead giving away 1st round draft pics, I'm gonna fire back with Goff & Wentz.

Not only were these two cast offs drafted 1st round, but they were the #1 & #2 pics of the 1st round.

And what happens, both get dumped by their drafting teams in just 5 years time.

How many 1st Round draft pics did we give away for our stud qb Stafford? Well, my answer is NOT Enough!

F..k the draft 1st rounders. And if you don't like that, then I'll give you back a fist full of Goff & Wentz!

On another side note...interesting the 1st & 2nd picks of a draft both get dumped by their teams during the same off season. Who'd a thunk that 5 years ago?

I dunno. Even with two firsts, likely in the 20s both years if not 32, the offer from us without Goff wasn't NEARLY as good as the Carolina offer.

I don't doubt that Brad Holmes WANTED Goff.

He's got the pedigree for it. He's a quiet leader who helps build up franchises. He did it at Cal and he did it with the Rams.

I think he can do it with the Lions, especially with the QB coach they hired. I think with our turnover, the OC and QB coaching may have lagged a bit for what Goff needed.

I'm THRILLED Stafford is coming.

And, I take Holmes at his word that they WANTED Goff. And if they can get him back to 2018 Goff, they've got a steal of a trade done.

Yeah I don't disagree with that.

Yeah fans and media always seem to put a premium on draft picks when it's obvious teams don't nearly give as much shit about them. Every since the rookie scale you see teams moving up and down each round much more frequently. They want a player, they'll go get him. Whatever it takes.

90% of the 2nd - 7th round players are out of the league in a few years, and many of the first rounders if they are lucky to be in the league are usually 6-7 year starters and then a couple more as backups.

You got to hit on those picks for them to actually mean something and of course that's hard. The Robert Griffin trade didn't do shit for either team. Sure looked nice on that stupid "pieces of the puzzle" BSPN graphic tho.

yeah there is no doubt that hitting on qbs is hard but it is said that qb is the hardest position to play. so it becomes like trying to replace einstein where if you replace another position its more like replacing a math teacher. although i will admit that the math teacher most be very athletic. in other words it isn't easy to hit on qbs even in the 1st round but it does not mean you should never try.

What are the chances Wentz plays for 75% of the season? He is always getting hurt, maybe a solid OL can help, but I dont think it will.

His style is risky when running the ball. Instead of sliding, he tries to take on LBers, which makes for a short career...

Right! All those players demonstrate "reality".

So, why have a heart attack if we trade away some 1st round pics?

I don't understand why a 1st round pic is so dang coveted. And, there's even a bigger gap between pics 1-10 vs. 22-32 of the 1st round.

And, don't get me wrong. It's not like I don't want 1st round pics, it's just let's put the value of it in the right perspective and context.

Now, a qb like Stafford, is coveted. And, hot damn, we got him!
