Jrry….I like the moves except I dont see how we keep Saffold. I think it will cost $5-7 M to keep him….without a major incentive laden contract. For that monet Id rather bring in Asamoah, except he might cost more. A little birdie on the West Coast has expressed to me Oakland has a serios interest in Saffold. We will see.
The DL moves are interesting. When it is all said and done Clowney may end up #1 overall. If we a DL that adept at fetting to the QB we better get a DC or CB who can run man because it will be 3 step drops (and other quick throws) and little else in the passing game

That sounds really good, actually. Lesser consequences for guessing wrong, too.

I'm going Madden status.

Sign Byrd/Saffold

Trade 3rd or 4th for Blackmon (Fish can handle him and one has to think Jags would want to get SOMETHING for him before its too late)

Draft Mike Evans.

I like the Justin Blackmon trade. I think he is a top 10 WR in this league when he is playing. He did Josh Gordon like things this year in the few games he did play.

if we could get Justin Blackmon for a 3rd or 4th rd pick, what are everyone's thoughts on that?

Hell Yes!!!! If it only cost us a 3rd/4th. Hopefully he will come back having shed his stupidity. I'd do that trade in a heart beat. No reason not to spend a 3rd/4th rounder on a high risk/high reward player.

This draft is going to be extremely interesting and fun for Rams fans. And if we end up with the #1 and #12 or better picks, it could be course changing for our team! I just hate thinking about it so much before the end of the season.

I don't see the Jags doing that but if he were available for it, I'd consider it. I'd have to know the reasons for his suspensions.

Clowney and Watkins/Evans round one or trade down and pick a value player. I'm very big on BPA. We dang sure don't need to get cute and go for a Brian Quick. Don't reach!

However, the Cowboys reached for Fredrick and that worked out well so go figure...

I would take Blackmon for a 4th all day, too.

My just for the LOLs mock draft, using current draft order:

Trade: The Rams trade the number 2 overall pick to the Oakland Raiders for the number 5 pick, the number 37 pick and a 2015 first round pick.
The Raiders select QB Derek Carr at number 2.

5: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State.

12: The Rams trade the number 12 overall pick to the Cleveland Browns for the number 24 pick (from Indy) and the number 39 pick, the Browns select Johnny Manziel.

24: Hasean Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

37: All time leading SEC receiver Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt

39: Zack Martin, OG, Notre Dame

44: Ego Ferguson, DT, LSU

76: Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU

Projected Starting lineup/backups:
QB: Sam Bradford
RB: Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham
WR: Jordan Matthews, Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin
TE: Lance Kendricks, Jared Cook
LT: Jake Long
LG: Rodger Saffold
C: Barrett Jones
RG: Zack Martin
RT: Joe Barksdale
DEs: Chris Long, Robert Quinn
DTs: Michael Brockers, Ego Ferguson
LBs: James Laurinaitis, Alec Ogletree, Jo-Lonn Dunbar
CBs: Darqueze Dennard, Janoris Jenkins, Trumaine Johnson
S: TJ McDonald, Hasean Clinton-Dix

So we end up cutting Wells, Dahl and Finnegan for a cap saving of $12.5 million, I'd keep Langford, I know he isn't a starter under this projection and $6 million is a lot for a backup but considering we don't splash the cash on free agents we wouldn't be that hard up against the cap. Alternatively you could cut Langford and keep Wells.

I also sack Walton and go hard after Pat Narduzzi.

Anyway as I say it has zero chance of happening and is more fun than watching rubbish Saturday morning TV.

Totally agree with your post! I will be thrilled if the Rams can get Clowney (Too good to pass up if available) and either Watkins or Evans! This draft seems to be pretty deep in the OL & CB positions so hopefully the Rams can fill those needs either later in the draft and/or in Free Agency.

Justin Gilbert, Okl St, has a nice blend of size and speed. He's a returner supreme, tied a Barry Sanders record for returning. Plays the big men well and fights for the ball.

Verrett may be a bit small to play the outside. We'll have to see his height and weight but he blankets guys.

Actually, quite a few good CBs this year. No top ten guys but plenty of depth mid 1st to third round.
good reason to trade Washington pick for more picks

I like that draft Duckhunter. I really like Matthews and hope we grab him, hoping fisher changes his tune and drafts an OT in the first round finally. If he ever were to do it, Matthews would be the guy, and if he passes on him, we all would know he'll never take one in the 1st for sure.

Good job on the draft again, would take it in a heartbeat.

Thanks, I have no problem if he goes another way.

Just seems when they decide to upgrade a position with youth they do it in a big way. Multiple picks and early. Other than B Jones, they haven't added any youth from the draft to the OLine and the DBs need quality help early also.

Exactly. We need impact players! We don't have massive holes in any of the starting roles just just get the best guys. I will say this, though. This is a much deeper QB class than in recent. I think a lot of average teams teams that don't really have answers for their QB positions would walk away sick if they don't get one. I'd be for trading down if we can pick up a second round pick as long as its not too far from picking top tier talent like Watkins/Evans. They're not Megatron, Julio, or AJ, but they'd be a big upgrade from what we have on the outside.
