I don't think Snead is using his phone for the o-line. They have guys there that can be as good or better than some castoff from another team. I don't see the need to panic about the o-line. They haven't finished evaluating who they actually have on the roster yet. If Demby isn't their guy after all then they have 4 other guys they need to look closely at.
Don't want to make another Troy Hill type contract. His contract was premature and now the guys behind him seem to be better. No Snead needs to get out from under Troy Hill's contract. I've said all along and still say, Hill is a marginal CB at this level.
Also, as much as people think Roby-Coleman is a good player, all I see is a guy who thinks he's better than he is. IMO he's a mistake waiting to happen. People make a lot of his infamous PI but he made equally inept mistakes, i.e. blown coverages during the game. He's like Peters, loads of talent but too much ego getting in the way of his play. Roby-Coleman has a cap charge of over $6 M this year and $4.5 next year. I say use that supposed rep as a top slot CB and package him with Troy Hill for draft picks next year. Slot CB can be played by Williams or with a 3rd safety i.e. Rapp (who is very good at taking away those quick slot receiver throws).
This will give them at CB: Talib, Peters, Long, Peterson, and Williams. I would also shop or release Christian and keep Parker or Gervase. Christian is another marginal player and either Parker or Gervase would be an upgrade.
IMO the only thing keeping Hill on the team is his contract structure. It's back-loaded with over $2M in dead cap this year.
No, if I was Snead I'd be on the phone to clean up the secondary making room for some upgrade guys while clearing some cap as well and perhaps getting some picks.
