Do we draft a RB and a PK in the 5th round or sooner?

I hate the idea of going into another year with a garbage place kicker who leaves points on the field. No matter how they do it, they have got to have a guy they are ACTUALLY confident in for under 60. None of them they rostered last year is that guy.

@So Ram who do you think is currently on the roster?

RB??? Like others, no idea where Evans is but they have to bring dome more competition in whether it is in draft or FA. Is there a FA out there anyone likes for a backup role? I just don’t see one. Maybe someone on a UFL roster???
I’ll start at RB. The Rams will find a solid player. Royce Freeman could even comeback.D. Henderson is done & can’t have what happens last season happen again.
I believe in Ron Gould.

Kicker ? I hear what your saying & agree. I just don’t think you find that kicker in the Draft.

My hope is that the 9ers kicker keeps struggling. He was there only draft pick basically ?

My priority with a kicker is consistent conversion of routine ranges, since I'm not a fan of trying for super long field goals anyway with the boost in field position they give opponents (vs punting them into their end). So my special teams goal overall would be a punter who is good at directionally pinning opponents by hitting the corners of the field deep in their red zone, and a consistent kicker who can finish drives within reason.

Now our current punter doesn't seem particularly adept at pinning opponents back. Could just be I was spoiled by Hekk in that regard, but to me our teams "leg" types don't ideally suit our offense. Either way no chance I'd be thinking kicker in round 3. Fuck that. I'd rather have open invitationals for ex-soccer players every month for the next three years and scour that sector of the market than spend higher picks on that position. They are just too unpredictable.
Ideally, I'd like a punter who can also run the ball ~ Merlin

Most mocks that I have seen don’t have either of those kickers before the latter part of the 6th round and beyond. Not sure if that’s because there’s no standout kicker in the draft but even if there was how many kickers that are picked early have better careers than those who were drafted later or signed as UDFA’s? I think the bust rate is around the same. There are exceptions but it’s rare for a college kicker to have immediate success. Kicker’s need time to develop. The new kickoff rules bring more strategy to the kickoff game and the return game but I think it’s more important than ever have a standout return man on the roster. I’d rather get a return man early than a kicker. College kickers have a high failure rate in the NFL.
Karty is the best kicker coming out. Since 2016 the 1st kicker taken was picked between the 2nd and 5th round. 1 2nd round, 1 3rd round, 1 4th round and 5 in the 5th.
Not advocating for taking one early or for Karty just saying what recent history shows

Whoever they take at kicker, please just make sure he has a TRACK RECORD of consistency.

The Lucas Havrisik experiment was nuts. The guy hit only 64% of his FG's at Arizona. Why in the hell did the Rams bet on him "figuring it out" in the pros?!? Rams FO decisions are usually great, but the Havrisik experiment (and letting it last so ridiculously long) was a big mistake.

Well Kyren was incredible last year, better than I ever expected for sure. However, he missed 4 games and most likely would have been out of the playoffs after the Lions game.

I don’t think Rivers is the answer at RB2. And I have no idea what to expect of Evans.

There just aren’t any FA RBs on the market right now that show promise to be even a backup level guy but, there is no doubt we need one who can step in right away.

Kicker, there is no way the 9ers are dumping their kicker. The Rams need to spend some draft capital on a guy who potentially scores points every game. I trust Sneed will do that and will not try the cheap way again.

There appear to be a number of good options for a RB at R3.99 or in the 4th round (where Rams don’t currently have a pick). Gotta believe they pick one up in that range.

So Jake Bates hits two 64-yarders (only one counted, other team called timeout prior to first attempt) in his UFL debut.

Then in week 2 he makes a 62-yarder and a 52-yarder.

I was gonna dismiss him as a fluke, but he deserves to be watched. Could be a crazy underdog story. He never made a FG in either high school or college... insane!

I think Rams should only consider a guy with a track record of success, but Jake is off to a ridiculous start.

I said the exact thing about his AZ career what was the logic. It we as so bad at the end we were going for it on 4th down in a playoff game. Nuts this is unacceptable not to mention why retain Blackburn he is a horrible STs coach sorry he sucks and no idea why he was retained give me a real reason why he is still here besides probably McVay likes him is what some will say.

He had a bad season,he found Evans who is going to be one of The Best Punters in The NFL.

I thought the same about Burns, but chilli Davies was a nice hire as an assistant. Burns knows kicker & will find one ?

Burns, eh?

Excellent.
Yes - sideburns - chasing the rainbow.

Blackburn having a solid assistant coach is huge. CHase is more of a kicking guru type,so if your expecting a FG kicker in the draft. The guy will be a big part of it.

Why do you think that?
From what I know he found Evan’s & goes to a lot of these kicking camps(HS)(ncaa). From what Les Snead seems to think now is he(himself) doesn’t(didn’t )know about the kicking game as he thought. All IMO from what I gather.

OK. The reason I asked was because Blackburn was a ten-year NFL LB (and two-time Super Bowl Champion) who excelled as a special teams player

Thanks for calling me out.He keeps a close eye on the specialist.Plus he is no Guru, but whatever it is Les Snead seems to think someone in the organization has it figured out.He was throwing his hands up ?
Had a friend that’s son was a HS(punter, kicker) & knows that circle of coaches Blackburn does.

The best I can come up with is Blackburn putting the puzzle together. Chilli Davies comes in
maybe is more of the Return specialist.

The Rams give Chase credit for having worked with punters & kickers that did well.I don’t know how he does it ? He uses others to help, or does back to there
Mechanics. Who really knows.

This is why I think The Rams won’t draft a Kicker !! Sizes other reasons, but bringing in a rookie kicker is very Questionable IMO.

Tanner Brown is on The Rams roster & brought back. Not to say
who else they’ll bring back. My guess is Maher again ?

For a guy who probably will have more points than any skill position player for the Rams in surprised some reserve only the 6th or 7th or last pick picks reserved only for kickers.

I’d for sure take a kicker in the 5th, especially considering that could be the difference in the playoffs where the difference between winning and losing is inches.

As for a RB I’m praying with some trade downs that net us a 3rd or 4th and nab a player like Jaylon Wright or Blake Corum.
