Here's a link to an interview with DJax shortly after he was signed.

Didn't watch the whole thing. At the 8:30 mark though, DJax talks about how great it was to work with McVay in WSH, and how McVay "knew how to utilize him" and how he got targets on not just the deep routes but also the intermnediate routes and screen passes. Clearly, DJax was excited to join the Rams because he felt like he would be targeted way more than he has.

He thought he'd be that third leg like Cooks was. But Jefferson had other ideas. :laugh1:

He's gonna hit waivers, still a chance that someone picks up his contract as is, I think that means we don't have to pay.

ESPN says they may get some offset cap relief - "Jackson's $2.75 million salary is guaranteed, so if he clears waivers the Rams would be on the hook for most of his contract, but that is subject to offsets on a deal with a new team."

They also say that he was willing to stay in LA. He must have burnt some bridges if they are willing to eat his salary right after losing Atwell.

If it comes out the parting was initiated by his hissy fit, going forward I shall forever refer to him as DivaJax.

We need to get a kick and punt returner Wr off of someone's practice squad. Also.. Harris should be a big Wr instead of a small TE

i wonder if the rams thinking on harris and skow is that harris is 6ft 5 and fast so he can probably add pounds and still be a fast te where skow 6 ft 3 and about 220 lbs and if he adds lbs he will be to slow to be effective. i have been wrong once before when i said they couldn't dig the panama canal so who knows on this one.

Skow is going to get a ton more playing time than Harris this year. Just a much more complete football player and a much better blocker. You use him as a hybrid move TE in some sets, imo.. he's like a plus version of Kupp blocking, from what I've seen.

This is my only "sigh" about the whole thing. He was blowing past everyone first few games and we were making an effort to get him the ball. Hell, Stafford missed him on a few just by underthrowing. Sad part is, he was doing what he was brought in for. After that seemed like it was Kupp all day and he just was an afterthought. Forget whatever issues people have with his "attitude" for a minute. He WAS doing what he was brought in to do. Then we just stopped putting him on the field and taking those opportunities. I'm sure I'm in the huge minority here but I think we DID underutlize him.
Oh well, is what it is now.

I don't think it matters.
He got upset over half a season instead of seeing it through. It's on him, not the Rams. He signed the contract, he wanted out.

I love it. Plus, he's a big target who can get open even when he's not truly open by virtue of the fact that he will fight for contested balls like he's the 3rd monkey on the gangplank to Noah's Ark. And we already know Stafford is not shy about throwing to receivers and letting them fight for the ball. Hope we see him in some red zone packages.

you are probably right about playing time this year but my post had more to do with why harris was drafted as a te and skow was drafted as a wr. just trying to guess what rams management was thinking when drafting those two. i could be wrong after all i was wrong once before on landing men on the moon

I wonder based on body type and speed why Slow wasn't transitioned to TE and Harris worked as a WR. That seems like the better fit...

Or maybe they have Harris as a TE to give him the blocking boot camp he needs this year to be a Rams WR... because Rams WRs BLOCK like TEs.

All you need to know is Cooper Kupp, #1 in most WR categories, vs the Seahawks pulled inside and leveled Jamal Adams on a zone run. Was a thing of beauty.

If I had to guess, it would be that they thought his size/speed combo would be more of a mismatch against the players he would see coming out of the tight end spot compared to outside. There's only a 13 pound difference between them according to the Rams site, but compared to an outside linebacker it's not that significant. His draft profile says he was 219 and Skow is 224. Either way, not a massive difference in terms of going against an outside linebacker. Harris' superior speed would be, though.

Again, just my WAG.

From what we saw last weekend... Benny Skow is the better football player right now. Period. Doesn't matter where they play.

No doubt. Harris started football late but has elite SPARQ scores and very good hands. He could grow into a dominant WR
