This drives me crazy too and it seems like we've had players who do this for years now. They all either follow each other instead of plugging lanes or they all pile up behind the d-line instead of hanging back and covering angles.
I think they are all watching where Aaron goes and just following.

Just some random thoughts here, just shaking my head.
So when the offense is rolling, O'Connell is the next coming, but when it sucks (like last night) McVay is at fault.
The 4th and goal and the punt downed at the 1 foot line just summarize the whole game, 49ers got every break, on top of out executing the Rams. The 4th and goal pass? My god, that was some Pete Carroll blowing the Superbowl bad, but even the Pats were stuck on the 1 yard line. And Reynolds looked like he could have made a better play on that ball, kind of alligator armed it. Speaking of which, Reynolds made a fantastic catch for the TD, but man, how poorly did he mistime that jump? It was funny actually, he went up for it but was back on the ground when he caught it. I know he was playing for pass interference call, which he got, but still...
End of the day, that game felt like one of those we got annihilated games, like Dallas or Baltimore last year, and yet here we were, hoping for a measly 3rd and 7 stop when we knew they were running the ball so we would have a chance to tie the game.
So not for nothing, a win is a win, but if I'm San Fran looking at this game? It should have been a total blowout, 49ers couldnt have played any better they were hitting on all cylinders, they beat the Rams in every facet, caught every break, and yet it was still a 1 score game
Rams will be back

McVay is often his own enemy. Overthinking the game against Shanny cost him. Our players look like they don’t have the “eye of the tiger” in them. We blew at least 10 points in that game. Poor execution means we weren’t ready.

Btw, was Shanny’s mask made of women’s underwear?

McVay should give the play calling to a real OC. Offensive play calling are too predictable and the Niners defense are way too fast.

Tough loss. Weird game, both teams left plays on the field. I only watched the 2nd half, but Jimmy G missed some wide open theows and they had like 2 drops on 3rd down.

Didn't the Eagles just make it a game against the Ravens? And got it close with the Steelers the week before? And the Cowboys lost by 7 to the Seahags. I also think the Giants are way better than their record indicates. Washington is Washington.

Teams change from week to week, especially this early in the season.

If I had some things to vent about this game, it'd be McVay's inability to show up during prime time games, our sorry excuse for a linebacker corps and Sloman-- I have zero confidence in that dude making any kick. Hasn't he missed one in every game this season?

Yeah the play calling was noticably bad and we at least need to bring in a different kicker.. Even the ones he makes seem strained

Good teams don't put that kind of game on film.... Nationally broadcasted even. That was garbage.

Just a small rant. Watched the first half. It was clear to me it wasn't our night.

Don't know if this has been commented on but what was driving me insane was every time they would pan to jimmy g he would be laughing and joking around like he was at a party or at the club. Now the game was not out of reach 1st half, still a lot of football to play.

If I had been a player or coach on the sideline I would have been in total fit mode. "Will somebody wipe the Fing smile off that Fers face and let him know he is in a game!"

All I could do is scream at the TV.

First, let me say the obvious, McVay had another game where he was channeling his inner Martz. Second, will these coaches ever see that this zone defense is like being pecked to death by chickens. They are too scared of getting beat deep to play man coverage. Third, If something is not working try something else don't just try to force it, a round peg will never fit in a square hole. Make adjustments during the game, this was another short coming of Martz. Lastly, please get rid of this kicker, whatever happened to that kid from Hawaii, who I thought outperformed Solman in camp.

I feel it, bro

Just want to plant that smiling bastard.

Got to hit him repeatedly and he’ll chuck and duck.

I think we need to adjust our expectations. In reality, all our wins were against bad teams. 5 wins total between all of them this season. We might of over estimated our team.

I still believe we're a 9 or 10 win playoff caliber team. But I don't believe we're among the elite. Probably a little better than last year's team.

Our offense can be good at times. But they can be shut down too. Our defense will likely give up a lot of points to the better offenses. The 49ers exposed them. The Rams play soft defense. Which is fine if they can tackle. But they're not good at tackling so those short, safe passes designed to keep their QB from making mistakes turn into more than a minimal gain. And they move the chains. Hence, the huge disparity in time of possession.

It was clear Shanahan was protecting Garoppolo with the play calling. The Rams either wouldn't, or couldn't adjust. Better defenses woulda shut them down.

- Reynolds still doesn’t know how to high point a ball (lucky TD)

Just not a lot of positive stuff to take away from this.

Reynolds is an exceptionally talented receiver that we don't use enough. He catches nearly everything, including that tough one last night for a TD. We're so lucky to have him.

When this happened, I said it out loud to myself... "every bounce seems to be going the other way tonight"...

Kupp's drops were out of character...

The officiating seemed more involved, penalty wise...

It felt like the 49'ers dictated the game plan, the whole game. They ran the ball well enough to zap possessions away from us, eating time... We were stuck trying to play their game.

They beat us, simply put. But, they are not the bum team we had a lot of fun pretending they were. But, I do like our chances next match up... and I think the Bears are in deep shit after this one. (y)

When the 40 weeners 1st possession starts like this

And then the Rams offense gets stopped like

When we do get something going, Sloman swings his leg like

Then Kupp can easily catch a TD but he does this
