I was glad to see when the Rams drafted him out of Georgia, as a 6th round pick in 2022, but he sure has proved to be a lability on the field. I would like to see what someone else could do with the opportunity. It is looking like CB position is moving up on the draft board. On the other hand I have been pleasantly surprised with Witherspoon's play.

I think Morris has done a good job covering up weaknesses on defense. But there's only so much scheme can do. And opposing offenses will figure you out eventually, which is what we're seeing as the season progresses

I think it is fair to say that ALL of the corners have had their share of bad plays/games. Witherspoon has been the most consistent but he also had a bad game against the Steelers, even considering the horrible pass interference call. I don't know what the answer is other than drafting next year but I would like to see some changes... IE give Shelly and Tomlinson some chances and put Durant back at corner where he played well last year.

I for one do not want to see Kendricks on the field again this season and I hope he is off the team next year. Maybe he is sweating after he saw what happened to Maher after a few hiccups.

Kendrick's prob is he has a high floor but a low ceiling. And that alludes to it being difficult for him to be more than a short term answer.
Not gonna find much disagreement here on that one. Placeholder.

Kendrick actually isn't graded out that poorly on PFF.
I also saw that PFF graded him among the top but if you factored in the penalties, he's among the worst.

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. 3 undrafted guys in the front 7. Secondary littered with day 3 picks. Mostly 6th round or lower. You can only coach them up so much. The quality just isn't there.

There was a series in the 2nd quarter on Sunday where the Rams' defense had Williams, Brown and Durden on the D-Line, with Hoecht, Rozeboom and Van Valkenburg at LB/Edge with Ernest Jones.

Donald, Turner and Young did not start that series.

At that moment, the Rams had six undrafted free agents in their defensive front-seven.

I'm not saying quality isn't there. Some of these dudes can play. But inexperience well we can't help that at this point

Will just leave this here. What I was hoping to see when it seemed Kendrick would be out of commission for a while due to legal reasons. Would still like to see Durant take over outside. Was thinking Shelley taking over inside duties but Lake is intriguing too.

Glad to hear Raheem liked Durant outside and I concur that his cover skills out there will be real nice. Have always wanted him outside the hash. Only concern is him vs guys like Deeblow on those short passes, I fear he'll get worn down tackling but it would be nice to see him grow out there.

Now maybe they can finally try Kendrick in the slot and we'll have something.

You can’t play CB with your back to the ball. Good WR will take advantage of it , and any contact with them will draw a flag. Maybe us fans would be more forgiving if he wouldn’t over celebrate a mediocre play , then turn around and give up a big one.
And then get in your opponents grill like you are the second coming……while they are losing thanks to times you got burnt……

I hope Durant proves me wrong. His lack of physicality and fear of contact worry me.

I hope Rah had them study the Steelers game tape, because our secondary looked the worst it has all season. Got burned all over the place.

Btw anybody heard any reason JJ3 never sees the field?

I've been a Kendrick supporter. Well, sort of. I just haven't criticized him like others. I felt he had potential. Being a 6th round pick I thought he just needed more experience. He's getting that experience but I'm not seeing much improvement if any. I'm starting to doubt if he will ever be a decent corner. I imagine he will have this season to prove himself. If there isn't much improvement I think they have to consider moving him further down the depth chart next season.

Overall the secondary is starting to look like the secondary we feared we would have. Too many open receivers. Especially late in games. If the opposition has the ball needing to score in the final minutes, I don't have much confidence the defense can hold a lead. But like I said, when you have that many day 3 picks and undrafted guys starting I don't know what you can expect with that.

He'll be above average at least. The guy has great instincts in coverage. But yeah I don't like the tackling either, however once a corner's coverage gets to a certain point that stuff takes a back seat. Just hope he gets to that point.

Got a diversion for 2 misdemeanors related to gun arrest, per Klein.

Sounds like if he stays out of trouble and does some court-ordered work.. he’s clear.

3 straight solid games, maybe he is maturing and developing into a solid player

Rams made change in secondary strategy four weeks ago. Probably intended for Cobie and Lake ... but Rams stuck with it and Kendricks has done decently (not great). Hard to know if it will continue when Durant and Lake are both healthy.

A wait and see thing.
