The demise of the Rams defense has been greatly exaggerated!

If our defense is so bad after being #1 last year, then Sean McVay must be fired. HE hired Raheem Morris and if that hire was galactically stupid, then how does he escape blame?
The only thing galactically stupid is comments like this. McVay wont get fired if we finish 32nd in defense for the next 3 years. Did he hand pick Morris? Yes he did..and if our defense continues to play as it has through 4 games you can bet your ass Morris is gone after this season. But all the McVay hate gets way too fucking out of control around here. We are 3-1 and just lost to the best team in the NFL right now. Get a grip.

The Rams gave up a lot of sometimes garbage yards to the Bucs by 4th quarter. That doesn’t help their stats.

Yes, the Cardinals smoked our D… But I remember feeling good about the defense going into Cardinals game. So, for me it feels like a bad game and I’m not over reacting to that.

I have a feeling… this defense… with Donald and Ramsey… isn’t finishing bottom half.

Therefore… I am going to sit back and enjoy watching one of the best sports franchises try to figure it out!

Go get ‘em McVay!

Sarcasm, bruh. Be careful who you call “galactically stupid” when you didn’t fully comprehend the meaning of the whole post.

Way too small of a sample size. By week 5 last year nobody thought our defence would be among the year's best.

There is, however, very real cause for big concern. The execution needs to improve. Morris and his scheme needs to improve. Hopefully, they do.

Do I need to point out we are all a little galactically stupid?

This defense is bad. But there is still plenty of time to tune it up.

Going into this season I was hoping for a '99 type year. This won't be that. But maybe they'll be the team that puts it all together and runs through the playoff field.

Just fix the secondary and contain first. Then start working Jones in and try to have him ready for the playoffs. Plenty of time to get this thing right.

I believe the Rams just started to trend downwards on defense & it this trend will not change if DC Morris is planning on having to start Davis Long as his fixer.

A hard landing is expected by this fan. I think DC Morris will not change much & will continue as is. I have very little hope in him at this time

This season it was said that Rams are ‘all in’ to win the SB.

Ummmmm…

This Morris D does not look anything like a SB worthy D.

The End

I think coach knows what he is doing and Sneed bought what he can and they are going to make it work. I heard mcvay was more involved with the defense this year, more than he was with Phillips. Since he schemes other teams defenses to make his gameplan, I would like to think there is a brain trust going in where coach is just as concerned and worried as we are to make the defense what it needs to be. How was our DC's record in atlanta? Was he good. Why did we hire him? I guess we will see. Go rams

If he doesn't improve significantly I think he'll be gone before the end of the season. There is no way the Rams will accept a bottom third defense this year.

And re: Phillips the real value with him was nobody wanted to hire him away as HC. That shit is underrated by fans IMO. Now with Morris he's gone if he gets this defense back on track, and probably fired if he doesn't. This is the price of having the highest standards.

I had them still finishing in the top 10 this year. Seems optimistic now. Enough of a sample size to start drawing some conclusions.

Morris is a marked man on here. McVay knew his schemes and concepts when he hired him, and if he didn't, he would've picked up on it when they worked together all offseason and training camp. Plus Morris reviews his defensive gameplan with the HC every week.

Yeah, I'd have preferred Staley stay here but that was never an option, we all knew he was a goner. And even if he was here, I doubt he'd be getting 2020 results. John Johnson was a big loss. Very versatile, very smart, and quick to diagnose what the other offense was doing. Other QBs had a hard time fooling him. And Troy Hill, fan whipping boy but played well his last year here. We have not adequately compensated for their absence.

You are way more optimistic about Jones than I am. Seeing him in preseason, it didn’t appear to me he had the athleticism to be an NFL starter. But you never know.

Definitely missing JJ3 and Thrill, which I mentioned in a previous post. Rapp and Long are cheap replacements, pay and skill-wise. Rapp had a decent rookie season but had regressed these last 2 years. Had a few good tackles in the first 3 games but is still getting consistently blown by in coverages. Long had a nice pick in the first game vs Bears but has become the whipping boy now that Hill has gone, and rightly so.
