Eh, they bring up some good points but they also blur the lines of the truth. They extended Gurley before his injury. They had no idea this was going to be an issue last offseason. I agree tho that teams are just playing the pass daring the rams to run.

I dunno if theres actually something wrong with Todd then we have to move on. If its something that will heal then that's different but at this point I doubt we'll ever know the truth until that day comes.

I do agree Sean has to stop taking all the blame at some point you have to hold players accountable but then again he is calling 68 passing plays a game, that's his fault. He does have two good young healthy RBS that's his call. And it's his call to keep Gurley as our starting rb.

I think this week in Seattle is going to tell us a lot about our team. We know them they know us. If we run under 15 attempts something drastic needs to be done. We won't have a winning record by the end of season if we doing what we're doing.

He's had a number of runs so far that look, to my untrained eye, like the "Gurley of old," so I don't buy the knee is killing him. McVay doesn't say it but they are handling him differently, absolutely. In weeks 1-2 it worked well, he was fresh in the second half and had good runs to help seal the deal.

At this point I think the issue is the line, not Gurley.

Gurley is not injured.

* Check the injury report below. I don’t see his name on it.

* Let the dude run and be happy he’s a Ram. We have Malcolm Brown and Henderson in the wings. We have a balanced running back corps.

With all this talk of Gurley being done or on some precipitous decline it’s like some of you want the guy to be finished. Let the dude run. Feed Gurley until he can’t run anymore. That’s the way he wants it and that’s the way any Ram fan would want it.

I mean it would be awesome to have this Ralkstalk component that is festering in threads like this gone for good - but I guess worrying over nothing and playing devils advocate is way more important to some

Nice thread with poor info from CC.

Even if and that's a big if TG is hurting he looked good enough on those TD runs. Been said he ain't getting cut anytime soon. Let's see it play out before we go full panic mode.

Cut Gurley?
With what, CC, some baby laxative? Nah, probably some baking soda for you...

(if you don't get it, don't worry. Cris Carter would.)

the only thing wrong with gurley is he isn't getting enough touches. not sure how you can watch him run through 4 defenders on both his td runs and say there's something wrong with him.

.
Agreed! Again - Gurley is a big part of the Offense THIS YEAR. Whether it be as decoy, runner, blocker, receiver - he is a big part THIS YEAR. On the other hand - he is not getting the touches he did early to mid part of last year. Every NFL player is hurt to some degree and breaks down over their career - which showed prominently at the end of last year for Gurley. Does he have a bum knee? sure he does. Does he have arthritis? more than likely. Will he wear down in the next 2 years to become ineffective? Quite possibly but what I have seen from him this year he is still an effective weapon when called on. The mystery is why he isn't called on more - which is a McVay thing not a Gurley thing.

do people really believe this? Sorry I just don't see how people can honestly come to this conclusion..

He has some good runs at times.. but there are so many other signs that he isn't right.

The number of touches.
On outside runs he looks slower.
He doesn't look happy to me on the sideline
Reports of arthritis

Ect ect,,,, no one really knows 100% what's going on right now.. but eventually we will

The arthritis story has reared its head again.
Has this actually been confirmed officially?
With the rumoured issues with Gurley's knee, would we really have waived Davis and Kelly to take a chance with Henderson?

Would we really be playing Gurley to block if, like has been commented on, he has arthritis?

He got two TD's. The team as a whole ran 11 times.
The attempts are poor.
Is that all on Gurley?
The Henderson hype has died down.
All we do is argue and counter argue. Going round in circles.

The argument is: he doesn't get the touches because he's injured.
Countered with: McVay has gone pass happy and disregarded Gurley like before.

I'm as frustrated as anyone, but we have to let more games play out.

I’m wondering the same thing. What other team has this much trouble with one formation? McVay is too stubborn it seems to put a FB in. Higbee would work well in this role. We are continuing to run the same exact stuff over and over. There’s gotta be a big change and it won’t be on a short week. Expect more of the same this week.
I have to suspect, if they did that, the defense would just motion out of the 6/1. I do think we have to figure out a way to beat that formation straight up. Maybe it is with a FB. Maybe it is with a 2 TE set that we can run or pass out of. But mainly, our O-line needs to beat their D-line IMO.

Regardless, we are going to need to run the ball effectively at some point. And that effective running will be mostly with TG. If it were all about an injury or "condition" involving Gurley, he wouldn't be getting twice the carries of MB. He wouldn't be getting 3 times the snaps and blocking guys 25 pounds or more heavier than he is.

I think this last game, we put ourselves in a hole so early by not running the ball, that we couldn't ever get to the point of being in a position to run it much after that. You can't go down by 21 and expect to be able to grind it out.

Let's face it. TG has ALWAYS had a majority of runs that were short gainers mixed in with some big gainers. It takes him getting several touches and gaining some momentum before he ends up with 100+ yards. And that goes for almost every RB in the NFL. So far, we haven't seen either of our RBs go off in a game. The first game had a pretty decent running game but still not great. The big difference seems to be the O-line's overall play and maybe also how defenses are stacking up against us. But when your QB is getting almost no time to throw unless he rolls out, and your RBs are being hit behind the line of scrimmage, there is an O-line issue. We've seen this movie before.
