As a mod - you can do that. ROD takes down peoples comments all the time because they think that they would be bad for the board - and truth be told - those decisions are usually correct. ROD gets to control the posts on ROD.

Why is it such a problem for Twitter and Facebook to make those calls for themselves?

If they think that people running out and taking HCQ is going to be bad for them - and they don’t want people seeing advice for them to “hurt themselves” on their platform, don’t they have some freedom to make that choice?

I’m very much used to disagreeing with people - and I try very hard to do it agreeably. I can take the heat.

I have always understood RODs decision to keep politics off the board - it totally makes sense for what they are trying to do here. I have skirted the line here and there, but I respect the decision.

And I think we all would be ok with some level of censorship for big tech. If you will indulge me a straw man - imagine viral posts advocating suicide or even genocide. We are ok with big tech taking those down right? (Or are we)?

So where the debate is - involves where these statements and opinions fall on the spectrum. And on that point - I don’t really have enough of a stronghold on the topic to weigh in. But let’s not act like there is a stark line out there in black and white.

There are probably a bazillion-trillion-gazillion (my kids' definition of infinite) reasons why that's faulty logic. Not the least of which is that you can't trot into CVS and pick up a pack of AAA batteries, a hershey's symphony bar, and 3 vials of HCQ.

I enjoy talking with you, OC. If talking with me becomes tedious, I’m ok with moving on. I know what fascism is - really, I do. Out of respect for the board, I’m not going to go there here - but I’d be happy to have you educate me in the PMs if you want to delve deeper.

They already have guidelines against 'hate speech' and gratuitous violence (allegedly). If you let them decide - for you - what *they* constitute as "harmful information", then you might as well abandon any premise that this is America. Further, they control the flow of information. Watch what happens if Google gains control of all web hosting. They already have the search engine market cornered, and they're wielding their power over who gets to see their videos on YouTube with an iron fist. Dennis Prager had to sue them (and lost in circuit court) over how they're targets because of their conservative slant. Prager U has zero offensive content, yet a lot of their videos are flagged as restrictive because they're conservative. They actually flagged a video on the 10 commandments because, and I quote, "It mentions the word murder."

And yet, that platform allows hundreds of videos of kids beating the shit out of each other with laughter in the background, people getting shot, riot footage, violent police interactions, softcore porn, and ... the word murder.

You seem to connect a lot of dots that I don’t. Maybe that means I have my head in the sand - if so I’m willing to be taught and pull it out - but it’s going to take more than the - this is so obvious - kind of hyperbole. But again - in the pms if we are going where I think we are going.
