Could it be that Snead has a couple of surprising draft day trades up his sleeve?

They should trade Goff to see...Oops

Personally, if a trade is to be made I’d rather they keep keep versatile guys over a 1 position guy.

I do think hekker is on the trade market and it's with Dallas. I don't know what you can get for a great punter bit with a high salary. Yes the cowboys but what's there cap???
Hav well yea we want the best line possible once we took this leap for Stafford so not sure if say yes they may have something in place and there are some real good free agents out there still. One could say you could still revamp an offensive line if you needed to right now.
To my knowledge Okung, Turner, Reiter, and Warford are still out there with big whit offering to move inside well that can make many things possible too.

Now not making this a Goff thread just responding to above I believe Stafford is the better qb and I said way back in early November Goff has trouble reading defenses quickly and of course pressure up the middle doesn't exactly make for great plays for any qb. I still will always be grateful for what Goff did for this franchise and wish him well.

As far as Stafford taking a bit of a different angle Stafford needs to play well and needs to surpass what Goff did for this team or at least get us there and not be the cause of our loss (not saying Goff was). So Stafford here with the rams needs to fill Goffs shoes honestly no matter his skill set. I also understand variables like if Stafford plays unconscious but our defense sucks for whatever reason or injury etc.....So while I was fine with the trade and I believe we got the better player and the better qb the pressure is on Stafford mcvay Snead and the rams organisation.

Goff in Detroit well fans don't expect much and stats are stats it's winning they crave so as I've always said love the trade but will always root for Goff as long as it doesn't harm our rams in any way.

I dont think you can get a ham sandwich for Hekker in a trade. Love the guy but his value i way overrated by the fanbase, particularly at the price tag of nearly 4 mill per season.
How valuable are punters? Well, the guy who led the league in avg per punt was a FA until last week....

As for trading Havenstein or any of the o-lineman, I cant see it. Bringing in a new o-line coach and needing to replace the C is one thing, has to have some sort of foundation to work with.
I understand where you are at in these thoughts.

Ref. the OL unit .......I believe that the two new OL coaches have their own idea on what they will do to enhance this OL unit performance.

However Rams have FOUR backup OL'ers under contract who are now entering their 4th season in the NFL In addition, the Rams have 2 others under contract who are entering their 3rd season. Two other backup OL'ers are entering their 2nd season. I see this as a rather large OL foundation to work with & the loss of one of the 11 hardly affecting the foundation of this OL. This is a very strong position to be in before the draft where we are sure to draft one or two Ol'ers plus the usual addition of UDFA OL'ers.

The loss of last season's starting center was insignificant from my point of view. He was our weakest link in the starting OL. We have a very good opportunity to greatly improve this Center post.

I’ve seen no comments on the hypothetical Hekker trade.

Does that mean that everyone is onboard with such a trade?
Hekker got us to the SB with that saving hold on a bad snap on the winning FG to send the Saints to Aintsville. I hope we don't trade him as his leadership and holding skills are another part of why he is so valuable.

Trade Young for a 6th and a ham sandwich. If an ILB stud falls in the draft (e.g. Jamin Davis) draft him. If not sign KJ Wright. That solves ILB.

Unpopular opinion, but, I think Hekker's time here is done and I don't necessarily disagree with it. Is he a great guy? By all accounts yes. Was he the best punter in football 2 years ago? Yes. Is he now? Evidence would suggest that he is absolutely not, and hasn't been for 2 years. His punts were average to below average last year and I keep wondering what was going on. He is paid as the best punter and its not remotely close. His cap hit is 4.937. Next highest, 3.456 (who had a significantly better season then Hekker). Hekkers was in the lower half of the league in avg punt. Guess who was first? You got it, the guy we signed Bojorquez, who is paid only 1.02 right now. Love you Hekk, but it's a business and we need all the cap $ we can get.

It's tough to hear read and I'm sure write but I could not agree with you more. You don't just sign a punter like that to carry hekkers jock. That dude is going to be the starting punter. It also won't be like in June either that we come to this decision unless it's like a post June huge cap savings. I think he is going at the draft or out right cut. My thought process is it's a punter so I'm not sure anyone would pony up a pick. They probably just wait for the rams to cut him knowing we have two good punters on the squad. Maybe a Dallas steps up but somehow I think bones and hekker would know wink wink if u get cut come to Dallas. So there's that but we shall see.

Future cost is the issue there although I admit the Rams know how to work around that lol
we would be dumping Hav at 8 mil and then next year Whit at 11 mil so thats 19 mill. Give that to Brown next year and promote Evans. That would be 1 or 2 mil diff

The cap next year should skyrocket TV deals, hopefully full fans, full revenue etc. I'm not worried about cap at all honestly. I actually think rams would be in very good shape with a good draft. That said I'd love to fortify this current team with some one year additions .... Reiter for sure.... Ingram Atkins Poole these are guys that fit. Sheldon Richardson is still available as well as some very good offensive lineman tackles and interior.

I think I've made my opinion known previously. If a targeted player drops into the second round where Les has a trade partner he will. He has players and two 3rd round picks. As I've posted I think Havenstein, Hekker, and Sebas are trade bait as well. They would clear a lot of cap and none project beyond this year. If Snead has two 2nd round picks, a 3rd round pick, he can fill all his real needs with those, i.e. edge, SCB, RB/FB. IMO after filling those needs it would be strictly about depth be it o-line or defense.

If his targeted trade up players don't drop within reach it wouldn't surprise me if Snead simply stands pat in this draft. I feel Snead and McVay know who their starters are at all positions and they are already on the roster. The edge, SCB and RB are all rotational guys.

True enough that only McVay/O'Connell really knows what we might have behind Havenstein at RT if he's traded, but we do have bodies, several of them. Like Brockers, moving Hav creates millions of dollars in available CAP space for 2021 & 2022, so if the Rams identify a post draft free agent vet that fills a positional need, we'll have the capital to go get him. My final point would be that it's unlikely the Rams part with Havenstein unless we draft another OT to compete now at RT and later at LT for when Whitworth retires. I do believe the Rams can find a quality Havenstein replacement among the competing group of hopefuls in Edwards, Noteboom, Evans, Brewer, Anchrum and a newly drafted OT, and while Havenstein has been fairly solid, he too has his weaknesses, he's certainly not in the same class as irreplaceables like Donald, Ramsey or even Whitworth and perhaps Floyd, ... if McSnead feels we can benefit by his departure, then realizing this is an aspect of how the game is played in the modern NFL, i'm OK with it. jmo.

Havenstein feels cheap for a tackle, or at least good value for his caliber. $7.2M next season.

I can see you don’t want to give him away either. I just don’t know.

If we do trade him I could interpret that as a sign of confidence with who is left. The depth guys. So, that would be a positive, maybe.

As far as trading Hekker... I am all over the map on this one. At some point you can’t always have your cake and eat it too. We need cap dollars.

But, stats aside... Hekker is one of the best.

Wouldn't mind if that plan came to fruition minus Evans as I'm not sold on him, but makes sense if the money worked out like that. The only other part that's hard to tell is if they are worried about allocating those resources elsewhere for next year and rather keep Hav as he's more inexpensive than Brown. They may also not view him as a LT for whatever reason or possibly Whit will play until his damn legs fall off lol

Yeah, well Jared Goff got us to that SB coming back from 13-0 down, and the bomb to Brandin Cooks at the end of 1st half was key. And yet both of those guys are gone so....

Dallas has a P under contract for cheap in 21/22 who had a higher Y/P than Hekker. Not sure why they'd want to add salary for a guy who may not be better than who they have.

Side note, with Bojorquez salary 1 mill, there's really not much in the way of CAP savings. Hekker dead cap is 2.3 mill, + Bojo salary 1 mill, they save about 400k. Make it a post June move and it cut the dead cap hit to 1.2 in 21 and pushes 1.1 mill to 22.

Do fans here really think that Snead & Mcvay traded the team's present & future draft wealth & future major chunks of cap salary for a QB to run the ball behind a very good run blocking RT Havnestein? Did we not try that the last few seasons & how well did that work out for our offense?

You & I have been on this same thought for some time now. I know I been posting about it since before January. I think that after the conclusion of the first round Thursday night & depending on how it goes for teams looking for ready start RT's .......we should see some possible action take place there. Snead/Demoff is still badly in need of Cap relief & this team is in an outstanding position of depth @ RT's. Hav has the good value that can obtain a good second-day draft pick or picks for teams in serious need.

If Mcvay really wants to open up the field beside the 4 to 5 yd passing routes like in the last two seasons then he very well might desire to have a very good pass blocking OT starting @ RT.

Hav has been discussed for a long time...any fan who does not have his head stuck in the sand knows his Achilles Heel is smaller quick-pass rushers. The NFL has the book written on Hav & they do attack him in this area that has often caused much panic & even sacks on passing downs.

It's extremely UNpopular in here @ ROD for me to post this....but this passing offense would be better off if a fully healed Andrew Whitworth were starting @ LT & 4th yr OT Joseph Noteboom was starting @ RT. Have Bobby Evans who has been a good Swing OL'er back up as Whitworth/Noteboom as emergency back game day. Evans is far more OT than OG!

Do not move David Edwards @ LG. Then take your previous backup OT's who are thicker larger OL'ers like Chandler Brewer 6-6/320 plus & Tremayne Anchrum 6-2/314 & utilize their OT pass blocking skills @ RG in place of Corbett who will be our starting OC.
Its may be unpopular because most do not agree. Im one of those that do not agree. Our best offensive line with our current roster is one that includes Havenstein at RT.

Been sayin all along that all we need to do is get a competent center.

Besides, Snead tends to overpay on his trades. Tired of getting raped today and sacraficing tomorrow.

Who says we’re gonna be a passing offense anyway? I prefer a balanced attack. We got a great young runner with fresh legs. Use that, and preserve your new QB

Exactly. McVay chooses to run the play action offense. He wasn’t forced to.

Why is it always trade Hav?

How about keep Hav, and trade one or more of these:

Evans
Edwards
Brewer
Anchrum
Noteboom
Because Hav saves you a lot of cap room next year when you consider they can carry this yrs savings for him over to next yr and next yr he is completely off the books. So combining both cap hit savings for the 22' season where they are up against the cap again.

So moving him now saves about $11-12M on next yrs cap theoretically. That may allow you to sign Williams.

Plus likely gets you a mid round pick.
