Matthews had 8 sacks last year. Floyd has never had 8 sacks in a season in his career. I'd rein in your expectations slightly

Yes, but Floyd can generate pressure. He had more pressures than Fowler in '18

This point is over-rated. It's like people saying Fowler cleaned up because he played on a line with Donald. The Edge rushers are being blocked by OT's 95% of the time they rush the QB regardless who is playing DT on the interior or DE/OLB on the opposite side.

Man I feel bad for AD right about now. We lose both starting OLBs, Fowler is better than Floyd so we downgrade there technically. Lose Matthews on the other side so Ebukam or Obo is a downgrade there. No starting ILBs with NFL experience after losing a play maker in Littleton.

We lost all that on defense all while not improving the o-line at all. Wow wow wow

Fowler is different than Leonard. I like Fowler and when he was hot he was hot but keep in mind 10.5 of his 11 sacks came in 5 games. 7.5 came in 3 games. He had a quick step but often overpursued. I think McVay (rightfully) is tired of seeing such a piss poor run defense and confusion in the defensive backfield at inopportune moments. It’s a youth movement that may be painful initially but bodes for longer term success.

Our defense philosophy wasn’t that good for a while last year. I can say that with Floyd, “ other than his run grade, he just INT’s that good”. Let’s pay him 2.5 times what Matthews was making!

Again, it's a buy-low contract for only a year with no compensatory pick wasted because of it. Fowler was the same way, and we saw how that went.

Think of a stock... you buy low and sell when it gets high. Right?

Okay, with Floyd are we selling him if he gets high?

After 1 year and Floyd balls out you think we are going to get him for 10 million again? Is Lloyd going to say “ you bought low, guess I got to stay at 10 million?” No... we shouldn’t have even paid that much for him.
