Yeah and Burrow was under duress by everyone tbh. Also agree on your Rodgers take. He's a selfish prick. Great QB but still a prick.

I'm going to really enjoy this year's AFC playoffs. So many young QBs that will be duking it out for their legacies, you have Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert all positioned to be in that mix. It's really gonna be something. I can't recall the last time a conference playoffs had that many good young QBs who are ascending like that.
Chargers would have to actually make the playoffs this year.

Ain’t just Simms.
Sure, there’s a lot of hype… but watch the tape & look at the numbers… he’s exceptional… especially for his age. The combination of big plays and minimal bad plays is wild.
Yea Herbert is insane for sure. Burrow is a stud as well. But I have a hunch he put them in the top 4 only because of their age. To me there's no way either should be ahead of Staff.

Re: Goff… I’m hard on him, but this is Simms making himself right for predicting Goff would be bad.
Simms has always had a problem with Goff for some unknown reason.

Chris Simms is probably jealous because Goff is a way better quarterback than he ever was and is a multi-millionaire while Simms only made any real money by being a pundit and because he is Phil Simms son.

Sure is a lot of crowning going on with Herbert in the media. If it is just for this year seems to me prioritizing the kids is kind of dumb but this is Chris Simms we're talking about.

Yea I mean, when you dig into WHY the Chargers lost their games, quite a few of them were directly on him. He and Stafford basically had the same season last year, except Stafford was better in the playoffs than he was in the regular season. Mind blowing to me how many people have crowned Herbert.

So every NFL team has to deal with injuries but imagine Stafford with a healthy Rams receiving corp throughout the 2022 season and another year of acclimating. Kupp, Robinson (Bears in 2021), Jefferson (apparently injured in 2021), OBJ (yes Rams will sign), Atwell (injured 2021), Higbee (injured 2021), Hopkins/Blanton (extremely limited 2021), Harris (injured 2021) and Skow (raw in 2021). The ceiling is out of this world. We just need to pray for health.

Yeah if the Rams can avoid major injuries this offense should jump to that 30 points per game range. No doubt in my mind on that, and if Robinson starts fast then you're talking maybe into the low 30s.

Really my only question with Robinson is how long it will take him to fully grasp everything this offense has grown into. Once he's playing fast and not thinking this offense is going to be enormously difficult to stop. But he and Kupp are inked for multiple years so this is just the beginning. Kupp & Robinson are going to be like Rice & Taylor on steroids.

I do wonder about the run game. We won a Super Bowl without it, but McVay did devote the snaps to the run they just didn't go anywhere. So what will it look like vs the best fronts this season. I think it's going to be a really important element in determining how far this year's team goes and how dominant they can be in the playoffs. If the run game is there and they can avoid major injuries to key players this team is going back to the big dance.

Here's the Stafford segment for anyone that hasn't seen it. #6
Have to admit his take on Stafford was on point. It's hard to disagree with it, though this time next year he's gonna have to put him top 3 after he wins the MVP and another ring.

Ridiculous. Just when I want to think he's gaining credibility by dropping Brady down he puts Burrow and Herbert ahead of Staff?
The same Herbert who couldnt beat the Houston Texans in order to make the playoffs?
I think the real problem with these ratings is, he rates potential very high. If he was to just base it on performance of the last year, I don't think you could really rate any body higher than Stafford. It should be based mostly on performance when the game is on the line. When the team needs you most. Rodgers has done that well exept in the playoffs. Mahomes could be rated higher than Stafford, but the fact is, 3 straight come from behind wins in the playoffs. It really sets Stafford apart. When he does it again maybe he will get his due.

I just imagine the pressure that was on Stafford all season long. It must have been severe, with all the questions and BS from a decade in Detroit that were thrown his way to include during the season when he hit that rough patch in the new offense. For him to do what he did with the weight of all that expectation was really something. Especially the way he finished it, with most of his weapons out of commission and zero run game while bringing his team back from being down in the final quarter.

Watched all the playoff games again last week and just cannot say enough about this dude. So clutch.

.

i wonder how stafford would have went with blythe as his centre?

of course the rams were never gonna let that happen after blythe ruined every chance the rams had for a big play in 2020. can't even call him a turnstile because he couldn't even lay a hand on the rusher. he was air.

let's just be happy the rams finally got serious about the oline last season and provided stafford with just enough time to make the plays. because if blythe was there none of those comebacks would have materiailised as stafford would have been on his back before he knew what happened.

Yea I agree it was spot on. I don't agree with Rodgers, Burrow, and Herbert being ahead of him after the playoff performance he just showed but cant be too mad. He's pretty good with QB eval I'll admit especially when it comes to guys like Mahomes, Allen, and Herbert who he was very high on when most were unsure. But if we can get OBJ back for the stretch run I think our offense is going to be borderline impossible to stop come playoff time. People aren't talking about Akers enough being healthy for this year. He was poised to explode last year and when he came back from injury never really found a rhythm. Another year in the system could mean MVP for Stafford if he plays his best football.

I think the way he framed these rankings was "heading into the 2022 season." So last year obviously had a big impact, but it seems like he's also projecting some growth from the younger guys as well. However I'm with you I wish it was more off of last years play down the stretch. Still all things considered it was a fair assessment to me, Stafford still has room to grow with protecting the ball a bit more and braking the habits of the Lions gunslinger-all-the-time mentality he had to have for them to win games.

One thing I'm going to enjoy is watching this year's QB class adjust to the league. I've said more than once that I think they don't get credit for the impact of COVID on the snaps and practice and rhythm the position requires and I think there was more talent at the position than people realize. Will some of these guys prove me right? Bueller? :laugh2:

Well this is probably moreso about the Falcons realizing how fucked they are if Mariota is the guy, but...
