The NFL is 100% at fault and should be ashamed.

The NFL selected this stupid Azteca stadium. They picked it; they're responsible for it.

I wanna now...who's getting fired over this? Goodell?

I own a business, and if my staff f'd this up, heads would roll.

I feel really bad for Rams fans that took off time; the Mexican fans that bought tickets; spent hours planning the trip, the build up; the ticket costs.

The NFL should pay up dearly to all those that have suffered here. Only thing I can think of to make up for it, is an all expense paid trip to the suoerbowl; flight, rental car, hotel, game tickets and some spending cash.

F' the NFL...F' Goodell!

The special hybrid turf was installed earlier in the year. It is supposed to be left to take root and grow for 11 days (I think) and it was not, there were events on it one day later. And it's the home field for two soccer teams.

When asked who was at fault here she said the blame was on the venue administration for not doing what they should have after installation and the wear and tear finally took it's toll.

If they're in the finger pointing mode, might want to point fingers at the turf company.

In promo materials the turf company touted the PlayMaster surface at Azteca as a "lay & play field" with "instant playability" and "instantly playable" with "instant operational availability". https://www.grassmastersolutions.co...ing-the-aztecas-stadium-pitch-with-playmaster

When Azteca hosted an event less than 24 hours after install, the turf company turned it into a promotion of the lay & playability of the PlayMaster surface.

Now someone is saying, er, no, Azteca shoulda waited 11 days, or so? Yeah, sounds like someone is ass covering . . . or ESPN got the story wrong (never happens, right?).

That's what I heard on the radio from a Mexican ESPN reporter talking to an American ESPN station

This makes for interesting reading and pretty much slates the stadium and the pitch. You have to question the decision to pick it to host NFL games.

That was a good read.........now the turf company is blaming it on the rain, which I find a stretch.

It looks like their product isn't meant for heavy or constant use but rather for weekly use at best.

Mexico really blew it tbh. They had an NFL game, and hit the lottery on a matchup with two of the best teams in the NFL and whiffed at the plate.

It sucks for the fans who had travel set up and I feel for those of you who did. But honestly Mexico is really the biggest loser in all this.

When the game was in Mexico City, you would be surprised how many ppl outside of Rams and Chiefs fans did not know this was an international game.

NFL will play game in Mexico City in 2019

NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL will return to Mexico City with a regular-season game next year.

Less than a week after the league moved the high-profile Chiefs-Rams matchup from Azteca Stadium to Los Angeles because of the poor playing condition at the Mexico venue, the NFL and Mexico’s president-elect confirmed the 2019 game. It will be the third match of a contract signed in 2016.

Commissioner Roger Goodell and Mexico’s President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador met before making the announcement Monday.

The date of the game and participating teams won’t be known until the NFL’s 2019 schedule is released in the spring.

The game between the Chiefs and Rams, both 9-1, has been one of the most anticipated this season, and would have been a showcase for Mexico with a likely huge television audience. But in a news release last Tuesday, the league said it determined that the recently re-sodded field at Mexico City’s historic stadium “does not meet NFL standards for playability and consistency, and will not meet those standards by next Monday.”

The league consulted with the players’ association and local officials before deciding it couldn’t risk the players’ health on a damaged field.

Mark Waller, the NFL’s executive vice president of international, traveled to Mexico City last week following the move of the game to Los Angeles.

Azteca officials changed the playing surface from natural grass to a hybrid in May, but the turf hasn’t been ideal for several months. Heavy use for soccer and concerts did serious damage to the grass.

Azteca hosted the first regular-season game ever held outside the U.S. in 2005 when Arizona beat San Francisco. The stadium has hosted several NFL exhibitions, and the Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans and New England Patriots all played regular-season games there over the past two years.

Mostly I'm relieved.

But I remember the Chiefs sea of red at the Chargers in week 1 - I know we have a stronger fanbase than them, but still..

the difference is that is because EVERY Chargers game in Carson is a ROAD game for them, they now have SIXTEEN road games all year now instead of 8.always will be if spanos is stupid enough to keep them here.:rolllaugh:

Does this mean we will have less of a home field advantage now? Just asking for a friend. :fuelfire:
I am thinking that was WHY they did this because the Rams will actually have MORE of a homefield advantage now cause this really screws up the traveling plans for out of towner chiefs fans.:rolllaugh:

I was not happy about a "home" game being played in foreign country. It reminds of the poorly thought out decisions a rapidly declining NASCAR frequently makes.

Then, to make matter even worse, the NFL proudly annouces a last second "midnight move"! Which is the kind of chicken poopery you'd expect to see during the final days of the failing USFL.

What an embarrassing disgrace.

The NFL's best days are definitely behind it.

yeah the NFL is a disgrace these days especially with all these relocations being allowed,Rams the exception.

I keep trying to tell ya'all. Chargers are going to end up in Mexico City.

which will prove my point how fucking corrupt the NFL is now in this day and age of the no fan loyalty league. Its so screwed up that there is no law against that.our government is so freaking corrupt.
