its a rental

49ners wont be able to sign him beyond this year...

I sure do hope that's the case but the first year of a large/big-$ extension can be very cap friendly; and, should Trent Williams retire or the Niners can do some restructures, San Francisco could have the cap space.

3rd round pick for a rental
Open market he will get paid
Shoot and playing with the 49ers, he could really blow up and increase those $$
He could wind up with 12+ sacks and then would get 25 mill aav easy

Sounds like a 1/2 season rental.

It’s definitely a rental.

Look at these 2024 cap hits the 49’ers already need to wrestle with:

Correct they likely won't be able to sign him with all the others the have signed and still need to. That said this was essentially a free pick to throw away. I'm glad we didn't do this but it's not a horrible gamble for them.

This trade disgusted me. The freakin whiners could have GAINED draft positions by making this trade. The comp pick they likely get from Young signing a large contract with someone this offseason could very well be higher then the one they traded to get him. 30 other teams in the NFL and he gets traded to the goddamn whiners.....
Maybe higher by a spot or two but that's hardly worth worrying a out.

Didnt they just pick up Randy Gregory? Niners going all-in this year. Good luck... not.

I REALLY hope that's the case. It would mean Chase Young will be in Free Agency.

Some of those Base Salary numbers are pretty large; and some of those players are in their prime. Restructured contracts could open up significant cap space.

Good. Its about damn time that those fucks are in some cap hell. They have been free spending on huge contracts for years and I've never been able to wrap my head around how they can possibly afford all of the All Pros they have under contract. Yeah, they have the cheapest QB in the league, that helps, but damn.

Yeah - but look at how easy & often they have got Comp picks.
They might even get another COMP PICK for Chase Young once he resigns somewhere else.
Yep, get Young and move back a few slots in the 3rd round.

Young brings an attitude that enhances the Whiner defense. Not what we want to see. Oh well.

Best quote in football by some legendary Head Coach ........

"You don't win championships with great players. You when championships with good players and great coaching"

I feel for those that can not see how great the coaching has been this year.

With the exception of this last game, we have been in every game.

Everyone has been surprised.

The future is bright.

This only will bring me and Rams fans more laughter and glee when they still don't win it all.
Thats the beauty in hating everything to do with the 69ers. When the Rams are struggling - watching the 69ers come up short year after year eases the pain.

9ers have 0 QB cap issues. Tons of salary to use. If you pay you QB a large portion of your cap space he must be great every week, otherwise, well, your the Rams
