Aren't you about personal freedom, why would you vote against it?
Two fold.
One knowing what usually happens when heavy regulation comes into a market place, esp all at once. This has come to pass to a degree.
The second is just greed. Cue Gordon Gecko.
The "gray market" that existed in Ca with co-op growing could work well for medical recipients but was often a gold mine for growers.

I bolded the part where it says ‘scientific evidence’ since your so caught up with it. Is Harvard lying too?

No, but as I mentioned (and you edited out of your post) there are other components of the drug Epidiolex. CBD is just one. There are several others, it's a compound.

So why is it taking them so long to federally legalize cannabis? I mean sure they can’t be that stupid to think that cannabis is more dangerous than other hard drugs which brings me to my next point.

I dunno, write to your congressman and ask them.

Who do you think is paying law makers to keep cannabis illegal? To have a plant that is easily accessible that has shown to benefit patients from certain medical issues. Patients would forgo the opioid route and take a natural route instead. Who loses money? Big pharma thats who. And yes they are losing and that’s the good thing. Old timers are dying and the new generation is voting more. With all the accessible information on the internet people are more easily able to do their own research and in turn see that the war on drugs is all bullcrap.

This is a big leap in logic because you are saying that big pharma (and I'm not a fan at all) is "paying" lawmakers to specifically keep weed illegal. And by the way the "war on drugs" is not all bullshit, much of it is meaningful. You just railed against opioids..........so you don't want to stop that crisis? Meth? Other stuff?

Yet weed is increasingly being made legal. So no sale on the "paying" lawmakers LOL. No sale on it being part of the "war on drugs". No sale.

And again there is nothing that proves this plant is doing anything other than getting people high and turning off certain parts of the brain that feel pain and booze does the same thing as far as killing pain and easing anxiety. This is not a big revelation.

Let’s be clear here. Cannabis does not cure anything. I never said it did. People who do are ignorant to the actual benefits of the plant. And once again the article I posted said it has scientific evidence unless, again, a highly touted school is lying.

So what are the benefits then? I already addressed the drug you mentioned. And makers of CBD are claiming all kinds of benefits that are NOT proven. And they even admit it.

What are the proven benefits of smoking weed?

Nothing outside of any other sensory dulling shit like booze, mushrooms, heroin, opioids and all the rest.

That isn't "medicine", that isn't science.

Yea and it also gets you drunk and can cause heart, kidney, and liver disease. Yippie!

What are the long term effects of weed? What does it do to your lungs? Your brain? Your testicles for that matter LOL.

Nobody knows.

I'm fine that lots of people like to get high. I don't care about that, I smoked loads of weed in my teens and 20's. But lets stop fucking dressing it up as some sort of treatment for this wide range of illnesses and act like it's some sort of miracle drug.

It's not. People like to get high just like people like a few beers. It's no different.

Weed will get A LOT more support if it's couched as "we want to be able to get high" and since more people in the nation feel that way than don't feel that way it'll happen soon.

But let's stop making it anything else that NO science or research supports. Let's stop saying it's something important when it's only really another way to alter mood and consciousness.

I live in Florida, old people all around, and it'll be recreationally legal here soon. Already "medically". 70% of the votes were "yes".

If people just would be willing to say "we want to get high" it would pass..........that's what happened in the states where it is fully legal.

If people stop trying to make it something super stupendous and just say they want to get high it'll be easier to get it mainstream.

Personal freedoms cut both ways. But it's really hard to argue that what has been done is about personal freedoms. It's more about revenue on a crop that anyone can grow and has no real danger to the actual production.

Yeah but states control the growers don't they?

Here in FL they do so far.

I still have the photo of the mason jar stuffed full LOL.

Great pic.

It is called lobbying. It is endemic in government at all levels.

That's pretty much what I mean. We're free to now pay taxes on what they deem acceptable by their absolutely ridiculous guidelines. I knew it was going to happen and voted for it anyway.

What has honestly happened is a mindset of state sanctioned get high every day - every where.

It's in no way about personal freedoms. Hell... I was the Libertarian campaign chair for a spell. I don't want to go political. I'm just mentioning that to emphasize that it's not like I'm against personal freedoms when I say I wouldn't have voted for this "legalization" if I foresaw what was going to be the result. I mean, FFS, out west here, no one has given two shits if you smoke pot as long as you can function and don't crash the machines.

And side note.... I still have some of that stuff from the picture you mention. I made most of it into gummies for my pooch. :D

I'm not but I kinda sorta was in the 80s. Gotta pay for college somehow.

Did you mean the campaign chair thing? That was for the state of Oregon BTW. Yeah... I was in THAT business. Honestly older than prostitution. Though it's hard to tell the difference some times.
