I was just curious if CBD is a legal substance under the NFL CBA agreement.

I live in Utah and it is just growing astronomically with people using it. It is completely legal and is sold in stores.

It has benefited many I know for a multitude of uses.

The NFL is largely stupid so probably not.
CBD has to carry some THC (very small amounts) to be absorbed.
The amounts are small enough as to be classified as not having any psycho active effects.
But, I don't know if it would pop on certain tests. I know your run of the mill employee piss test doesn't show it.
Some of the CBD that I've home processed has no psycho active effect at all. Give to a parent in their mid 80s with balance problems with no ill effect at all.

Not for everyone or everything but it have great positive results for a slew of ailments.
Even healthy folks can benefit as it is one of the most affective anti inflammatories around.
Most degenerative disorders are based (at least in part) in inflammation.

Honestly it was brought about by the ongoing talk of Todd's 'arthritis' in his knee.

In my personal opinion I think the media is running away with ideas as far at Todd goes. . .

But I was still curious

Impossible to know if it would be if any help....we don't even know what the problem is, haha.
Someone I know makes a CBD rub. Made with a mix of CBD and other oils.
My mother uses that as well.
She swears by it. Says it is more effective than any over the counter rub on her arthritis. Works better, last longer and smells good.
That said, there is a world of difference between an old lady and a professional athlete that has to put his body through the ringer on a regular basis.
Was able to get ahold of some Charlottes Web and harvest oil from that strain.
That was a life changer for a co workers son who was having seizures.
The benefits were profound and almost instantaneous.

The NFL just needs to drop their stupid weed rules anyway. It's pot, who gives a crap?

The federal government, as well as many states.

Perhaps they shouldn't, but it is still a crime technically in some places.

And yes, when I was a kid I violated those laws. Repeatedly. And when my wife was dying of cancer, I violated them again for her sake. And I'd be happy if it became legal. But the NFL doesn't need to respect my opinions on breaking the law.

But yes, stopping drug tests for marijuana is probably wise for them. That's different than suspending for actual arrests, of course.

Anytime you see this

“These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or ailment.”

On a product or website you know you are buying snake oil.

This stuff isn't regulated and the people making it are making claims that are outright bullshit.

From the Mayo Clinic's website. The last paragraph should concern anyone using it that has to pass a drug test.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-...nswers/is-cbd-safe-and-effective/faq-20446700

A prescription cannabidiol (CBD) oil is considered an effective anti-seizure medication. However, further research is needed to determine CBD's other benefits and safety.

CBD is a chemical found in marijuana. CBD doesn't contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high. The usual CBD formulation is oil, but CBD is also sold as an extract, a vaporized liquid and an oil-based capsule. Food, drinks and beauty products are among the many CBD-infused products available online.

Currently, the only CBD product approved by the Food and Drug Administration is a prescription oil called Epidiolex. It's approved to treat two types of epilepsy. Aside from Epidiolex, state laws on the use of CBD vary. While CBD is being studied as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and anxiety, research supporting the drug's benefits is still limited.

CBD use also carries some risks. Though it's often well-tolerated, CBD can cause side effects, such as dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, drowsiness and fatigue. CBD can also interact with other medications you're taking, such as blood thinners.

Another cause for concern is the unreliability of the purity and dosage of CBD in products. A recent study of 84 CBD products bought online showed that more than a quarter of the products contained less CBD than labeled. In addition, THC was found in 18 products.

If you plan to use products containing CBD, talk to your doctor.

And I'd be happy if it became legal.

For me this is a "will of the people" issue at this point in my life. Overwhelmingly this is what people want, so laws should be enacted accordingly.

Here in Florida the law allowing for medical marijuana passed with over 70% voting for it. I know a couple of people that don't smoke weed but voted for it, and they will again if recreational use makes it to the ballot. I should say when not if. Medical marijuana actually passed a few years ago on a different vote but the guy who was the Governor then signed a law making it illegal to smoke pot period.

So that ban had to be overturned by lawmakers so that the new law could be put in place, which happened a couple of months ago.

It was a big step. Probably the biggest supporter was John Morgan who owns a law firm Called Morgan & Morgan. It's a personal injury firm that claims to have over 400 attorneys and also claims to be the largest in the world. He is one of the heaviest advertisers in this area and he directed a large portion of his budget urging people to get out and vote yes.

Florida is ALL over the place with weed.

In some areas, just a few right now, an officer has the option of simply writing a ticket for $100 rather than making an arrest for a small amount. 20 grams or less.

However if you have more than 20 grams it's a felony that carries jail time up to 5 years/$5,000 fine

If you buy it within 1000 feet of a school or park you can get up to 15 years in jail and a $15,000 fine.

But if you aren't that close to a school or park and you buy up to 25 pounds it's back to the up to 5 years/$5,000 fine.

Like I said all over the board.

CBD is awesome
Fuck the FDA - they’ve been approving bullshit drugs for decades. That isn’t gonna worry any pot smoker.

For those who are lifetime stoners we have had to deal with a wide host of bad dealers, bad strains, stems and seeds, and having to hang with your dealer and watch snowboarding videos for 2 hours before he breaks you off what you came for. So after a while you get to learn a thing or two. When you find the right dealer you usually keep with them forever. Same with CBD. But thank goodness there is good info out there on CBD unlike pot back in the old days. There are things you need to know, like how CBD is not effective under 500mg doses, etc, and you can find out which is the best brands out there. So as a pot derived product, and for those used to buying weed, the FDA isn’t gonna stop you from giving CBD a try.

I can say it helped me stop drinking and smoking weed. I no longer have urges to spark up like i did, nor drink. And that is pretty close to a fucking miracle. I mean i drank a sixer a day for years and smoked copious amounts of weed per day as well. My attitude is also a lot better since I have started taking CBD last year. I’m not so easily agitated and have become way more even keel. It’s awesome to be free from all the bullshit.

I love it and recommend it strongly for those looking to balance their hyperactive brains and think it should totally be legal in the NFL.

Here is a solid brand I use:

The legalities of CBD are tricky right now...

CBD production and use have been on the rise since President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill, legalizing hemp - cannabis with less than 0.3% THC, the intoxicating compound found in marijuana - at the Federal level in December.

Hemp and CBD, while legal at the Federal level and a growing industry, is not legal in all States yet... like Florida.

The Florida legislature passed a bill in 2017 that legalized an industrial hemp research project, but failed to remove the product from the State Controlled Substance list. So, when the Farm Bill passed in December, hemp and CBD became Federally legal, but remains illegal in Florida.

Two weeks ago, the Florida legislature passed Senate Bill 1020, which will remove hemp and hemp-derived products, including CBD, from the Controlled Substance List, making it legal in Florida. However, the bill is still waiting for approval from Governor Desantis. If signed, it will go into effect July 1st.

Meanwhile... right NOW... you can find CBD dispensaries all over the State of Florida. LOL

And get this... while you can buy it everywhere here... a few weeks ago a 69 year old Grandmother was arrested for having CBD oil in her purse while she was at the Disney World Magic Kingdom with her family.

So be careful with this stuff right now. There's zero doubt that it provides multiple helpful medicinal healing qualities for people and animals. The problem is the bullshit ass process it's going to take in order for it to be legalized EVERYWHERE. The NFL should just remove marijuana from it's list of banned substances in their next CBA.

I have Scoliosis and Athiritis in my lower back. I use the CBD cream and it’s never shown up on drug tests. It’s supposed to have no traces of THC.

Players should definitely have access. It helps a ton.

@Selassie I it's openly sold down here, even in places you wouldn't think. Naples Olive Oil Company for instance.........they have foods and vinegar varieties some kitchen accessories......AND they sell CBD.

As far as this

There's zero doubt that it provides multiple helpful medicinal healing qualities for people and animals.

There isn't really any science pointing to anything other than what I mentioned so far. Go look at CBD manufactures own websites. Somewhere on the site you will find the disclaimer because they know they have to have it, the wording on the claims has to be styled a certain way. It covers their ass. Look at the picture of the bottle @Dieter the Brock just posted. Right on the bottle is says "supplement" and they put it there for a VERY specific and legal reason.

At some point I think the league will stop testing for weed simply because of the legalities. At some point the union will have to make the deal for HGH testing in trade for dropping tests for THC. If an athlete lives in a state where it's legal or gets a prescription from a Dr. the league doesn't have much to stand on from a public perception standpoint. The large majority don't care.

It doesn't mean we won't call a player a moron for getting caught of course.

Not saying you’re wrong but you’re not 100% right either lol

The key is going to be the federal side approving its usage. Probably a ways out due to so many states still considering cannabis and associated products to be illegal, but it's coming and will clear a lot of stuff like this up like the military being able to not need to test for what is a very minor drug.

I'm sure the NFL could easily make the call the overlook its usage, but there might be federal fallout from that since the politicians love to whip stupid $#!T up and make a three ring circus out of it. But it is stupid IMO. Because the key factor for a sports league is performance impact and it's not like weed usage gives anyone a boost. They need to keep their focus on steroids and Adderall type products, or any other type drug that actually impact game results.

And that's true. But it's not really common, actually rare overall.

But this isn't a statement from the FDA, do you see that difference?

The FDA has yet to step into the picture and they may never actually do that just like with the supplement industry and even the beauty industry. Walk into a vitamin store and look at the protein shake powders. It's absurd.
