That's a lot of cap to tie up in a QB that maybe can get you in range of the playoffs/SB but ends up riding the bench when you need him most, i.e. money time. Maybe it's just me but twice in two consecutive years bespeaks injury prone. If he starts playing to protect himself will he be the same QB? This time they don't appear to have a safety net behind him. This is a now or never all in type of move by the Eagles IMO.

Its not just you. Going back to his college career Wentz has been injured every season he has been a starter. IIRC he did start 16 games 1 year in NFL but was injured in the preseason. Since the 2 are always being compared, Goff has more starts dating back to college and has never missed a game due to injury.

I've seen a bunch of people saying the Rams would be crazy to pay Goff that much because he's not nearly as good as Wentz... Let's just compare their 2 years as starters:

Wentz: 24 games, 16-8 record, 64.68% completion, 6,370 yards, 265.41 YPG, 54 TD, 2.25 TD/game, 14 INT, 0.58 INT/game, 7.57 Yards per attempt

Goff: 31 games, 24-7 record, 63.58% completion, 8,492 yards, 273.94 YPG, 60 TD, 1.94 TD/game, 19 INT, 0.61 INT/game, 8.18 yards per attempt

I'll take Goff's production and durability over Wentz all day, thank you very much.

Yep, thank you.
I mean, I LOVE Wentz, great guy, huge talent......but the brother keeps getting hurt. All the way back to college. Not sure what his High school time was....That's probably not going to get you the Lombardy.....(unless you have Foles ready on the bench :sneaky:)

Idk Wentzs comp % is higher as well as his TD avg a game while his INT% is lower!

Give me Wentzy! HOF baby!

With the QB salary’s constantly going up the Rams would be wise to strike a similar deal with Goff now.

2 pro bowl years with 100+ QB rating. #1 offense over two years. Super Bowl appearance in 2nd full year. Clutch NFC championship win on the road vs future hall of famer Brees. Beat NFL MVP Mahomes in head to head matchup. 6-0
vs division. etc etc

Iggles are sorta smart in getting Wentz signed before Goff blows up the market. Let's see if the availability is there for the Iggles...But lets look in on Wentz this very moment...

Hopefully this sets the table for a Goff deal. The sooner the better and those numbers aren't too bad.

No need to rush with Goff. He's under contract in 2020 his option year and will make $22M. Plenty of time to get it done after the season. He's already proven he's a franchise QB. It's more a matter of how greedy he will get. If he's smart he will slot himself in the upper $20M range. That will leave plenty of cap to keep a team around him. That is the legacy of Brady in reality. He can see how his being affordable allows the Rams to build a championship team around him. He's got a long career ahead of him. If he's smart he will get his ring first.

Besides it's the guaranteed money that counts not the overall. Keep the cap hit lower in exchange for more guaranteed.
