If a female kicker can handle getting hit by massive men every once in a while, then sure. We already have the half joke that kickers (male) are people too, and I don't think this promotes the idea that kickers are real football players. jmho.

I saw those videos. Her leg appears strong enough, but I’d say leg strength is the one thing many people possess.

It’s the accuracy that comes from mechanics, the ability to repeat “everything” to a T over and over, and the mental ability to lock things out and concentrate.

So while her kick length was impressive, that’s the easy part.

Just my opinion.

It takes very good technique (mechanics) to kick a ball 55+. A lot of players cannot do that.

I think a lot of soccer players, male and female, could make that kick, and I would imagine male soccer players can kick it farther than female. So is this about breaking barriers or finding someone who can do the job at a high level.

Ok, let me preface this by saying I have absolutely no problem with women playing in the NFL. As long as everyone is treated the same, I support anyone who has the skill to make it that far.

However, any Power 5 college kicker could've made that kick she made. No snap, no other team lined up in front of her, her runup to the kick was way too long, and the trajectory of the ball would've been blocked in normal game circumstances. Hitting those kinds of field goals in a live game is a whole different animal.

Also, what happens when one of her kicks is blocked and then she's on defense? She's a 5'7" 140 pound 37 year old woman... If she gets hit by someone trying to recover the ball she is going to be crushed. Not only would she be, by far, the smallest kicker in the NFL, she also doesn't have the muscle mass and bone density of a man. It's just biology. I have a feeling the NFL doesn't want a crumpled woman lying in the field for millions of viewers.

All in all, if she wants to do it and a team gives her the opportunity then more power to her. But I don't see it ending well.

Can we just have our sports all to ourselves, women? We don’t ask for much. Just leave us football, baseball and hockey. In exchange, you can have our dignity.

Not only did she have to take extra steps to hit the FG, I would not feel comfortable with a female being put in a position to be tackled by a full grown man if the kick went wrong.
I also assume most players would not try and tackle or push her away if the occurance came to fruition. Which gives that team an advantage, IMO, of retreiving what was a botched attempt.

If she can make the team fine, I wish people wouldn't make a big deal about a person's gender.

Perform or don't perform, just like everyone else. I hate media hype over things like this, because they ultimately tend to push a collective agenda, which has a negative impact on that individuals ability to earn respect and compensation on merit. We went through it with Michael Sam, and who knows with Jeff Fisher, that may have been a publicity stunt. On the surface it appeared a potential depth acquisition, but when the media attempted to vilify the Rams organization over his release, all for the cause of that collectivist narrative, you end up negatively impacting the next man/woman up for fear of the media.

I know it's a different sport, but I cycle in groups with females who are faster than some of the guys we ride with, sometimes there's a little friendly competition, but we're still just friends enjoying a common activity together. No white knighting and no social justice bologna, just friends competing and having fun, and it never occurred to any of us to think that way.

That's the way it should work in football I think, the team is the primary collective, all else is bullshit for people who don't care for or understand the sport.

If I was an athlete, and a woman was lined up on the field, I would hit her hard and late even, just to be an asshole.

Women were designed beautifully. They are given one of the most incredible honors in life- and that if to incubate and give birth to new life. Men are not designed to ever do that. I am in awe. I cherish women. They are nurturers, and balance out us cavemen nicely. They are often smart, and funny, and talented.

No barriers should be placed in their way....er...sorta...

I'm actually in the corner of "let them do what we do because that's what they want."
I'm all for equality but you can't have it both ways. You either want it or you don't. Let them play basketball, baseball and football with the big boys. Let them try out, lets see how it goes.
I mean I can tell you exactly how it's gonna go. But this is exactly what they want. Hell let them fight with the men in the UFC. This is what the the media and the feminist want.

It should be annoying to all women that they would make a big deal out of a woman kicking a field goal in an NFL game if they didn't indeed earn an actual place on the team. It's a belittling publicity stunt if you ask me.

Why is it so difficult to get that there are differences between the sexes and in cases like this, it would take an extremely rare female to HONESTLY earn a spot on an NFL team.

But yay. I've already spent more time on it than it deserves.

I know you're joking (I THINK you're joking! ;) but in all honestly, the amount of rage some men have at women for not being sexually available to them would probably lead to some vicious hits.

or they could just be a dickhole and a dirty player. Women will have to put up with the same shit men put up with in the NFL.
Imagine a woman on the bottom of a fumble pile? They break fingers, eye gouge, pinch, nut punch, spit etc.

Exactly. It is so patronizing the way people treated this “showcase”. Equal rights mean equal treatment. She took five steps in shorts. (Blocked kick)

Very talented gal. For women’s soccer. She kicks further than I ever could. Cheers.

But there are 5,000 guys that can kick like that, and will never get an NFL tryout. Not good enough.

this is the age we live in. The media doesn't actually care about the story. They just care about clicks, and since this is one of the hottest topics on our own board, their agenda / propaganda or whatever you want to call it, is working.

The narrative will never change unless we (general public) just stop talking about it and giving it the time of day.

No disrespect to the OP whom I hold in high regard

I just love when PC runs amok of common sense

Jesus H. Christ 4A High School kickers can 3 step 55 yarders in shorts

Not to change the topic, but it is fairly well known a U15 boys from Dallas (not a national U15 team mind you) team smoked our USWNT Champs 5-2 less than two years ago, let that sink in before we get too over the top here

If I’m an ahss for pointing our simple facts then so be it

It’s at your fingertips fellow members

It's all great right up until there is a bad snap or some other reason she becomes a runner. Or what about when the time comes and she is the last person between the endzone and a kick returner? Can she make any of those plays without getting seriously injured? I'd be worried for her the whole time she was on the field.

I think she's bigger than Tavon Austin and Jojo Natson combined, so... maybe? How many kickers besides Jeff Wilkins really make tackles anyway?
