So, my daughter Grace, some of you met her at the Tampa game some years back (We still talk about those ribs) works for TSA and was heading into work at 3:20 am and was hit by a drunk driver. Car’s totaled, but thank God she’s mostly okay. She’s got a fractured left clavicle that will require surgery and had 6 stitches on a deep cut on her right hand.

We’ve got it all locked down, physical, emotional, spiritual and financial support, but since some of y’all met her, figured I’d let you know.

This was her at the game. I gave her the hat and she still has it.

That’s scary as hell.

Thankfully she’s OK.

I’ve had a couple broken Collarbones. They are no fun and it can be difficult to get comfortable enough to sleep.
Getting dressed will be no picnic for a few weeks either.

Thanks for the well wishes. I’ll be sure to pass them along. Collarbone fractures are strange because you almost want it to be really minor or a total offset so surgery is required because some breaks, they don’t operate on and they let it heal super funky and it takes months and months to heal. With surgery, it’s 6 weeks before she can lift 30 pounds which isn’t bad at all.

OMG Mac... that has to be a terrifying phone call to receive. Hopefully you're sleeping through the night again by now.

Thank God she is "OK"... those kind of accidents usually are much worse.

Get well soon Grace!

Always the damn drunks.
There is zero excuse....there was always zero excuse.....but particularly now with relatively cheap ride share, to drive drunk. Ever.
I loath that level of narcissistic stupidity.
Glad she is ok and will recover.
Terrifying for everyone involved and when you think how quickly even a slight change is speed, angle of impact etc., could have created a different outcome. Scary.
I received a shocking call regarding a car accident that did not have as "good" of an outcome and I swear it gave me PTSD for years.
Drive sober, don't speed (on city streets anyway), wear your seatbelt, don't play with your phone while driving, pay attention and hope for the best....thats about all one can do.

Got the call at 3:20am… been two nights and no…not yet. The ball on the pit of my stomach hasn’t quite unwound. Was definitely terrifying.

Turns out the guy was both drunk and driving on a suspended license… so we’re extra glad we pay for all the insurance extras.

The 3:20am phone call alone is enough to give most parents a heart attack before they even answer it.

What a nightmare :scream:

Thanks for sharing Mac .. so glad she's ok. Terrible experience for the family but thank goodness, it could have been much worse. My boys are in the process of getting their respective licenses and that call in the middle of the night would have been terrifying.

People who drive drunk or high on drugs absolutely sicken me.

About 6-7 years ago my nephew's wife, with her 6 month baby girl in the backseat was rammed off the road by an unlicensed, speeding, drug effected driver. Her car was an older model and didn't have side airbags and she suffered a severe brain injury. After a really strong fight she passed away earlier this year. Side air bags would probably have saved her. Baby girl in the back seat survived not a scratch. It's so sad and my sister and brother in law take solace in the fact that their beautiful grand daughter survived.

I'll probably have a nightmare about it tonight. Seriously... that happens to me all of the time when I hear about things like this. I expect to wake up sweating profusely in full panick mode tonight. My mind enjoys punishing me for some reason.

I’m so sorry for your loss. And yeah, terrifying is right. I’m finally unwinding.

Sorry man.
Damn, I hate hearing things like this.
So unnecessary and tragic.

After my experience, for years, if I got a call from a number I didn't know on my cell phone, I would have a mini panic attack.
Heart racing immediately, sweating immediately, wanting to hyper ventilate.
So.....yeah....these things can have an affect.
