my wife and I have been married around 8 years. Together about 10...this woman can not cook shit if it’s not frozen then heated up in the oven. I’ve tried countless times to teach her...if she does do something, it takes twice as long with half the flavor.

I just wanted to see who out there I could be jealous of. I’m a solid cook, but I work late and by the time I get home, I sure as shit don’t want to cook.

my wife can cook, but she is a vegetarian, so when it comes to cooking meat, she just buys the stuff and leaves it to me to cook it.

But some of the stuff she cooks is pretty damn good. The local library has a cook book book club, where they pick a cook book and everyone makes a different dish. We get together on the 2nd Friday of the month and feast. This months book was Egyptian food and it was great. I'll post some of the stuff later in the week

My wife had learned to cook, but it's generally nothing exciting. Lots of scoop'n'splat, some family recipes. She's not busting out with anything fancy. Fine by me. I grew up poor and have simple taste.

I used to love to cook, but the Army burned me out and now I don't really care to except on occasions when I get a random itch to try something out.

My wife can cook, but doesn’t.

I grill all meats which is good for avoiding fried, but has me cooking four to five days a week.

It’s my fault for exposing her to my techniques of culinary skill!

She needs to step up her game.

Not married but I do consider my girl my wife. Been going on 7 years and yes she can. I mostly grill, but when it comes to the more difficult stuff she takes care of that.

My wife is fair as am I.
We cook different things well.
I cook veg well she cooks pasta and sauce well.
We both grill ok (although our son grills better than both of us).
She does some good stuff in a pressure cooker and I can do a few fancier things.

I pretty much do ALL of the cooking in our house. My wife does have a few things that she is good at cooking though. I always tell people that she can cook a mean sandwich.

I really enjoy cooking... so even if she was a mad scientist in the kitchen... I'd probably kick her out and do all the cooking anyway. Not to brag too much... but I am a badass in the kitchen and on my green egg.

We went out to a killer restaurant last night for our 15 year anniversary which is actually today. The place is rated as one of Orlando's top restaurants. The food was good, but my wife says to me after we had a few bites... you make this way better than they do. So... sometimes being a good cook spoils the dining out experience for us.

well Happy Anniversary G !!!

We do that often also. Go out to a fancy place for a nice meal, and then re-create what we had at home with our own little twist to it.

I always laugh a folks who go to an Italian restaurant and order spaghetti and meatballs..I mean come on people !!! Live a little

we also have a bad habit of snapping pictures of drink menus and making those at home. She has become quite the mixologist that way LOL

The girlfriend can't cook and none of my ex's could cook either. And that's a bit of an exaggeration I guess, none of them could cook as well as I could and my brothers really are all in the same boat. Something my grand mother always said, if you can find a man that likes to cook he'll do it better than women. She spent her entire working career in restaurant kitchens too.

Mahalos

I did steal one of my recipes from a restaurant here in town. It was called Houston's... but now it's called Hill Stones I think. They have new owners but the same menu. I stole their grilled artichoke recipe from one of their cooks. I did put my own twist on it too (just as you said).

Most of my stuff is my own recipe though. My Grandmother got me started on a kinda mean streak way back when. She would never share her recipes with anyone. Never! Even though we would beg her. She would just say... Nope... If you want to eat this you will have to come over and eat it with me. She took all of her recipes with her too when she passed. I now do the same thing with people and I tell them the same thing my Grandmother used to tell us. Some people really can't believe that I won't share... Oh Well.

I did enter a chili contest one time. Someone talked me into it. I had no idea how serious some these people are with these chili contests... I had never even been to one. Long story short... I won the damn thing and the other contestants were fucking pissed as hell. That's when I decided that I will only cook for my family and friends now (people I love). I enjoy it too much to enter contests... I'll never do that again.

So... sometimes being a good cook spoils the dining out experience for us.

It's true and Monica and I mostly go out for sushi because of that. Anything else I can do at home perfectly well.

Maybe pizaa sometimes but there isn't shit in this area for good pizza.

I always laugh a folks who go to an Italian restaurant and order spaghetti and meatballs..I mean come on people !!! Live a little

I often judge an Italian place by it's lasagna. Those I have been to a few places that don't make it which is odd.

When you get back into town make sure you go to Parmesan Pete's. It's in the plaza across from Publix on Vanderbilt Beach Rd and Airport Pulling so it's a little bit from you but worth the ride. Best Italian sandwich in the area. It used to be really close to me on Bonita Beach Rd but they moved. I thought they had closed up and was bummed then one day I was in the area where that plaza is and happened to see it.

Not just chili contests..........back home in Cleveland one of the largest rib cook offs used to take place. They shut it down because it became so successful that every suburb starting doing one and it was overdone although a competing event picked up the slack. Cooks came, and still come, from all over the nation because wining an award in that contest was like winning the Super Bowl. Literally the best of the best travel to cook and compete.

Same with the brew-fests that have popped up everywhere. It seems like there are 20 of them here and it's crazy competitive.

I cook everything.

Of course I'm not married, though. If that day comes however, maybe I should keep it a secret.

My wife can cook really well but she never gets in the kitchen cause that’s where I remind everyone I’m not a loser

I was a 20 year old professional stoner musician/artist when i met my wife at 17. I knew she was the one for me and got invited to her parents house who wanted - along with her brothers - to murder me. So I offered to cook dinner. After they got finished they knew I couldn’t be all bad if I was able to cook as well as I did.

When i was 16 I was hired by a reknown chef to be one of two apprentices that year. On my first day the chef takes me aside and asks, “do you love to cook?” And i said “yeah. Of course!” But then he asks me again “do you love to cook?” And I say yes again, so by the fourth time he asks me I don’t respond and just look at him confused and he says to me: “Being a chef requires you to be here from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm each day with one day iff, you never see your kids or your wife. Now I’m gonna ask you again - do you love to cook?” So i think about it for a second and reply “not that much.” And he smiled and said “great! Lets get to work.”

Cooking to me is being close to God and always makes people happy. It’s a skill that has really helped me through life. Especially when 25 years later you’re still just a professional stoner artist/musician

My fiancee is a great cook, but she hates cooking. That might change with some kids though. I'm a pretty poor cook overall, but can make things with directions, she can just sort of wing it. Her mom is a dynamite cook so I think she picked up on some things from her.

I have a friend who's an amazing cook, and loves to entertain. He doesn't want to be a professional cook though since he doesn't think it pays well enough. Shame, because he is great.
