That is a good point but that ACL/MCL knee injury last season might have caused him to be handled with extra care on sideline walking during the 2022 OTA's.I don’t recall seeing anything about him in OTAs. Guess we’ll see next month if he has made and progress.
Yeah he was working on sideline with other rehabbing players but did get some work towards end...That is a good point but that ACL/MCL knee injury last season might have caused him to be handled with extra care on sideline walking during the 2022 OTA's.
From what I've read/heard... the Rams don't want him to gain weight. The speed and length are what they're interested in to create matchup problems. There was a LOT of excitement around Harris last year. He showed that potential in training camp... so hopefully he picks up right where he left off.
If I had a concern it would be his physicality. He was rag-dolled last year, a lot. It seemed every tackle he nearly lost the football, either from the hit, tackle, or attempts at dislodging it.
Early photos from this year... I'm not sure I'm seeing the weight gain we hoped.
That's what I saw too. said before that WR Robinson is a much thicker bigger pass catcher than Harris who is being discussed as a TE?Early photos from this year... I'm not sure I'm seeing the weight gain we hoped
I think it’s more about McVay finding ways to stash him on the roster until he can hopefully learn how to run routes and develop into a WR.Jacob Harris has been one of the most confusing Rams draft picks that I can ever recall. Everything about him says wide receiver. I just don't see him as a tight end.
Which of following does not belong:
A) Tyler Higbee:
Height: 6 ft 6 in
Weight: 255 lb
B) Brycen Hopkins:
Height: 6 ft 4 in
Weight: 245 lb
C) Kendal Blanton:
Height: 6 ft 6 in
Weight: 262 lb
D) Jacob Harris:
Height: 6 ft 5 in
Weight: 211 lb
I. A & B
II. A, B & C
III. D
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say III "D" does not belong.
Harris has to be a wide receiver. He just as to be.
And don't forget - he could leap.Yeah, this is where I'm at for the most part. Heh....I still remember being told all the things Brian Leonard could do. You know, Running Back, back up Full back, 3rd down specialist, Special Teams secret weapon, etc. On and on ad infinitum ad nauseum.

Like Brian Quick but with actual receivers ahead of him.A project with a lot of athleticism at the moment. Stay cautiously optimistic
IIRR, Blanton had some key blocks as well as catches when he finally got his chances. That's what I saw too. said before that WR Robinson is a much thicker bigger pass catcher than Harris who is being discussed as a TE?
I do not think that it really matters to McVay.....a TE or a WR as we normally think when it comes to MR53 spots. Blocking ability is going to be very high on what matters.......
Many think his chance to make this team comes at TE but McVay is going to find a blocking TE somewhere to blend in with his TE cadre so do not be surprised when a Blanton or Hopkins does not make the MR53.
Jacob Harris's biggest competition may end up coming with battles with other WR's not with the TE's .....Ben Skowronek, Warren Jackson & Lance McCutcheon for that last open receiver spot. Leaving McVay with Kupp, Robinson, Jefferson, Atwell & Brandon Powell as the main 5.
Blanton had a terrific game in the NFC championship against the niners after Higgs went down with his injury. 5 catches for 57 yards, with a long of 20 yards in the game. Then, the injury bug got him too during the Super Bowl.IIRR, Blanton had some key blocks as well as catches when he finally got his chances.
I've never thought much about him but I recently watched a couple games where he was thrown into action and he stepped up pretty well in both areas.
Kupp, Robinson, VJ, Skow, Atwell, McCutcheon.
Let’s get real. Harris has a long way to go before he jumps Robinson,Kupp, and Jefferson—if he ever would. They are experienced pros.
Just like that we’re down to #4 WR or lower. Skow, who still needs to further his development as well, has real game experience against legit competition. Harris isn’t coming out of camp ahead of him either. Atwell brings the promise of a dimension no one else possesses. McCutcheon has already shown the skillset to match his build and is far more polished and capable as a WR at this point.
So now we’re looking at #7 WR? Powell is our KR man. He’s essential and proven. Gotta keep him.
It is ridiculous to think Harris would ever see the field and take enough targets away from the top 6 WRs to justify a roster spot. He would only really become involved if there were injuries; which makes it more practical to put him on the PS until that situation arises.
I would much rather keep an extra OL, DL, or Carter as TE#3/STs. Those spots would see the field and be used more often—without requiring injuries.
Couldn't Harris push Carter for TE#3, or no?
