Can Jacob Harris become more than a project?

I've heard different answers to that question. In a post 2022 draft roundup with JB Long and DeMarco Farr, Farr said "don't believe it (he's a WR), he's a tight end". In an interview with JB, Liam C. said "Harris will present some matchup problems for LBs and safeties". That doesn't sound like a WR to me.

In my view, they listed him as a WR so that he could get more reps as he would have been buried on the TE depth chart. It’s difficult to see him getting much of a look if he stays there

He perhaps stands a better long term chance at TE. That said, it will depend on whether he has been able to add weight and bulk

McVay might be well involved in trying to arrive at a place where he is attempting to be the master blender in the perfect mixture of( WR's & TE's) roles as Rams during offensive game snaps to play vital roles in conjunction with the OL in order to revitalize his running game.

To build on what we have seen in years past of the great success on the field from WR Woods/Kupp making big blocks on running plays. Robinson is sure to be one of the newer additions to go along with the large Jacob Harris & Ben Skowronek, Warren Jackson & Lance McCutcheon.

McVay might be way ahead in this quest coming at it from a different angle than the rest of the NFL.

Hope he can figure it out at whatever position he ends up because he has incredible athletic abilities. To be honest though I'm not expecting much from him on offense but at least he looks like he could turn into a great ST player.

How is his blocking ability at the line of scrimmage?

To me, that's what a tight end needs to be able to do to be considered a true tight end.

Otherwise you're just a big physical receiver, (which is cool too)

I've seen ligers. The Tiger King had some at his park in Wynnewood (just one offramp away when I lived in Oklahoma). The 2 yo Grandson loved the park. The 4 adults were depressed

Pre-season questions over the viability of Atwell, Harris & Skowronek is what makes me believe that Powell will struggle finding a roster spot. Will the Rams even keep 6 WR's on the opening day depth chart ?
Unless Harris' body has filled out a great deal, I'm not sure how we can look at him as a 2022 TE, he's not built for blocking, and with Higbee, Hopkins, Blanton & the two UDFA TE's, Roger Carter & Jamal Pettigrew, Harris doesn't appear the best fit at the position just yet. I also don't see us keeping more than 4 TE's on the 53 roster.

He looked more like a WR when drafted. I thought he could gain weight but, at 6'5" and 212 Lbs. he could be too much to ask. Adding 30 Lbs would make him only 242 Lbs which is still low for a TE. It may not matter what position McVay wants to say he is at this point until he sees how much bigger and stronger he gets. He will be asked to block in either position. The kid is still raw but, has the speed and body control to develop into a weapon. He got pushed off the corner routes in the preseason by CBs. Let's see how physical he gets moving forward. I label him a potential weapon.

Harris doesn't really have the build to be a TE. He would be a complete mismatch as a SWR due to his speed and length. I'm looking for him to begin to show what he can do this year with a breakout year in 2023. So it begs the question, just how much do they need OBJ over the long term. Short term i.e. this year and perhaps next year but after that, it might become a question of diminishing returns. It's why I see him being offered a deal that by its structure is basically a 3-year deal no matter how many years are tacked on to spread the cap hit. One year to get healthy and two to see if he can stay that way.

If Harris develops into the deep threat he could become, that will really push OBJ as both Kupp, Robinson, and Higbee can play the possession role, i.e. short to mid-range.

Yeah… He really got pushed around out there, last year. He lacked football strength, got hurt. I guess they’ve determined he can’t add the weight.

Too bad, because his opportunities could be greater there, and we could use help at receiving TE.

They drafted him as a TE and I think the move to WR was to be the role that Skowronek ended up filling. He was drafted on his athletic ability, and at 6’6 i believe they saw him as a guy who could high point catch. Alas, he looked very awkward in his route running, dropped a bunch of pre season passes and ended up on IR.
Where he goes from here? Hard to say. Blanton can block a little bit, Hopkins not much at all but both are light years ahead of this kid from that standpoint.
Can’t see a path at TE and that WR room is awfully crowded already and that’s not even including OBJ
