Imo Cam makes NE better but I'm not worried about him when it's time to play the Rams. When we opened against Carolina last year I couldn't believe how inaccurate he was. Him throwing into our secondary is going to be fun to watch. So will the inevitable falling out between him and Belichick and I hope it's on the sidelines where the whole world can see it and get a good laugh. No Cam hate I just love it when unfortunate things happen to the Patriots.

I figure Cam is on step 5 of the dual threat QB 7 step program.

Step 1: Enter the league and blow it up with ESPN highlights

Step 2: Get crowned the next great thing and the future of the league

Step 3: Not win Super Bowls

Step 4: Body breaks down

Step 5: Make a comeback on a different team

Step 6: Become the backup on a different team

Step 7: Done
I mean, you can apply this to a lot of stone QBs as well.

A dual-threat QB just won the last SB.

Aw cmon man

I could freaking cherry-pick Steve Bono galloping an 80 yd TD run

While Mahomes sure as hell ain’t slow footed, calling him dual threat is a little inaccurate
I doubt the Cousins, Jimmys, Goffs, Ryans, etc, of the world are doing like that or anything close to it.

I don’t think it’s inaccurate at all. He’s clearly not the athlete of a Lamar or Watson, but he’s still gets the job done with both his team arms & legs, mostly outside of the pocket.

Read steps 1 and 2 and name the the guys you're speaking of. The human highlight running QB hype train. The other more "traditional" pocket types come into the league and are either immediate busts or get serviceable or become elite with long careers.

I get it that a lot of fans and media want this new gen anti-pocket QB thing to happen and become the gold standard. These guys are fun to watch for a few years. It reminds me of that old decades long great white hope thing in heavyweight boxing that never happened back in the day.

Ya can't throw your body around at QB in the NFL. The cost is the 7 step program.

Well then my closest comparison to his running would be a younger Aaron Rodgers, tho as with Mahomes Im fairly confident their runs weren’t by design

I'd put him in that category, but there are outliers in all trends so until he and all these other runners start regularly winning the big playoff games and super bowls i'm sticking with the reality of these guys being instantly sensational but having short careers with no hardware.

Patrick Mahomes(SB winner & MVP)
Aaron Rodgers(SB winner & MVP. HOFer)
Russell Wilson(SB winner)
Lamar Jackson(MVP)
Deshaun Watson(TBA)
Carson Wentz(MVP-type season in 2017)
Dak Prescott(TBA)

Are all top 10-12 QBs that fit that dual-threat label. Guys that can & have hurt with your arm & legs. Hence, the dual-threat. It’s not where you’re mainly a spectacular runner.

The days of the Bradys, Brees, Mannings, are coming to a close.

Also, it’s not “wanting to happen”, it is happening. The next batch of QBs in the 2021 class fit that dual-threat mold to a tee.

that's why the nfl is going down the gurgler. the least exciting thing to see is a qb continually running.

qbs getting hit and pummeled into the ground is exciting to watch. unfortunately that can't happen anymore. all we see are qbs running and then sliding, whoopee do! then they bait the defender into a 15 yard penalty by sliding late. and now defenders are too scared to hit them when they run. i fucking hate every single running qb.

Wait until the Boston fan base gets a hold of him for his bizarre fashion choices and disconnected interview style. It’ll be a bloodbath.

Well, if we gotta be super dense about it. What active statue QBs have won anything with the exception of arguably the best QB of all time?

- Brees hasn’t won anything in years.
- Goff hasn’t won anything.
- Cousins hasn’t won anything.
- Stafford hasn’t won anything.
- Jimmy hasn’t won anything.
- Rapistberger hasn’t won anything in a decade.

I know it’s a hard pill for you to swallow that the NFL changing from what you once loved, especially since your QB is attached to the past standard, but you’re just going to have & live & accept it. Especially with how athletic DLinemen are nowadays. The league is changing, it’s your choice if you want to stay behind & get left in the box or join the rest of us.
