The only thing that happened was out incredibly injured O line, the replacements have had a little time together.
Cam actually has a few holes to run through lately.

I would still like to know exactly what happened.

The entire situation was extremely odd.

We probably won’t know until one of them retires and writes a book.

Speaking of which, where is our book about the 2021 season?

The Eagles championship season had like 5 books.

I want a new Rams book dammit!

I am rooting for Cam, but I am not a fan of the coddling we've had to do.

However he's trending, I want another option at RB. Someone with more power.
I think the Rams realized they rushed him back. He could do it last year in the playoffs but was not at his physical best, hell don't think he was even this whole year, and because of what they did wrong I think they gave him some leeway. That said I still think we just keep cycling rookie contract RB's.

I wouldn't say we coddled him until we know exactly what went down. For all we know a coach crossed a line and Cam removed himself.

There was something extremely funky going on in the RB room. In the beginning both Akers and Henderson were "nursing" minor injuries. Akers gets sent home mid season. Thomas Brown takes over the RB room a bit later. Henderson is released. Akers is playing like his hair's on fire! Something wasn't right with that position group and it may not have been ALL Akers.

Having said that, I'm a fan of the team first and of the players second. If Akers keeps playing like he's been playing, I'm all for going into the 2023 season with him as the #1. I'm in agreement we need a bigger back in the draft. Just get that RB room (including coaching) up to snuff.

The trend is draft a RB often..

Not to mention Henderson taking a jab at the Rams on his way out

Still trending up.
He's probably a top ten back in the NFL if he stays healthy for a full season. Maybe higher.

Draft a RB later in the draft and bring in a cheap Vet and don't overthink it this offseason.

There has been a couple....

Something wasn't kosher concerning Cam Akers, so while I'd like to see him stay, we as fans deserve to know what this was all about. It's just totally weird!!!

I also thought it was crazy to let Henderson go...and I'm not sure what that was about either.

Both guys are good out of the backfield and I felt McVay under-used them in that roll.

Nonetheless I think Cam is a good RB and barring any nonsense the Rans should keep him.

I like Cam if we can compliment him
with a big 250 pound type back or one that can run with serious power.

To me he is a poor man’s deandre swift that can make people miss in the open field but needs his Jamal Williams for goaline and short yardage situations.

Same draft class.. and despite basically missing an entire season... Akers has only 200 fewer yards than Swift.

Akers isn't a power back, but, imo, is more of a complete back than Swift.

Don't forget the line Williams is running behind.

I don’t think that’s what was being asked. I think it was the attitude/benching/attempted trade stuff.

@Dodgersrf correct me if I’m wrong.

He is a solid part of a 1-2 RB punch. He looked much better later in the season. He looked so much better with making cuts etc...

I don't know why there was a temporary rift between him and McVay. My guess is he wanted the ball. He got the ball and proved he was ready to go.

Honestly I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Malcolm Brown back. Dude knows the system, can run up the middle and has been very good in pass pro

Overanalyzing aside, Akers did come back from a severe injury much faster than anyone thought. I like to think that we wipe the slate clean and look at the player over the last 8 games. 610 yards rushing, 4.8 YPC, 6 TD's
Even with that pitiful O-line he was able to rush for 3 straight 100+ yards games to end the year
I'm back to he's our guy.....

You are correct.
The entire mystery behind the benching and trade attempts is what I'm curious about.
