At this point, it seems like we need Green Bay to win if the Rams are to make the playoffs. I do think Green Bay beats Chicago. The Packers have lots to play for still and Rodgers is having an MVP season. But the Bears are red-hot, so you never know...
The Rams wouldn't even be in this position if they took care of business against the Jets.
If we miss the playoffs two years in a row with this roster (and generally staying healthy, until this past week!), I hope that McVay is on the hot seat for the 2021-22 season. I find him generally talented and hard-working, yet overrated and as culpable as anyone for our recent struggles (though there is plenty of blame to go around). True, we are not the same team we were a few years ago when we went to the Super Bowl. Our o-line is much worse, which severely limits the offense. We also no longer have a MVP-level RB to drive our run game, no deep treat at WR, etc. But every team has its problems. Welcome to the salary cap NFL. It is up to the coaching staff to scheme around your team's flaws en route to victory. McVay seems unable (or willing... see my next sentence) to do that. McVay's offense, at this point, seems repetitive, stale, unchanging, and predictable. There is no excuse to miss the playoffs twice in a row with this roster.
