I mean...if a team wants to go through the motions to satisfy the Rooney Rule when they already have someone in mind at least be professional about it.

At least TRY and be open minded when interviewing the minority candidate.

It means something to the NFL. I know not everyone is going to agree on the issue - and I’m sure the thread will ultimately get locked because some people can’t disagree agreeably - but the NFL won’t have the luxury that you do of just being disinterested in it and ignoring it.

I don't agree or disagree. It is not an issue to me.

Carry on bro.......

Don’t jump down my throat. Just relaying what I read Ross and the GM could very well be scumbags but when you rip through a bunch of coordinators and basically don’t talk to you coaching staff for a couple of months I’d say that dude needs to look in the mirror too.

Based on everything I’ve read it sounds like it was one big clusterfuck that they all had a hand in.
I'm not jumping down your throat. I simply responded to your post. You're taking things leaked by the organization to justify a questionable firing as the gospel. Does it sound remotely believable to you that a head coach just stopped talking to the rest of his coaching staff?

My friend, if you're not interested, you don't have to post in the thread. Leave it to those of us who are to discuss this. Enjoy the rest of your night. :)

.

This is the problem with the Rooney rule.

If a team wants this guy they still have to interview other coaches to get it done. But they have to interview their guy straight away so they don't miss out.

The idea is to get minority coaches in interviews so they can gain valuable experience in interviewing for a head coaching job.

The problem is the minority coaches feel like they're duped if teams just go through the motions in these interviews.

There's no easy way to fix this dilemma.

But I did partake.

You are choosing the response to which post I made.

My take is this is meaningless.

Is that not a valid opinion?

Enjoy the rest of your night..........bro.

Stephen Ross is a complete asshole. Flores’ claim of discrimination and racism will be hard to prove. But for the owner to tell the coach to throw away games so the team’s draft position is improved? Stephen Ross is still an idiot, SOB asshole regardless.

Apparently Belichick is more skilled at coaching than he is at sending text messages.

Texting the wrong Brian, "hey you got the job!"??

Dumbass....
Do you think he did the angry grandpa who doesn't trust technology routine when he realized he fucked up?

The only thing I've seen proven so far is what we already knew in that the Rooney rule is fundamentally flawed.

If the league really feels like they have to step in for inclusivity, they'll probably find a more productive route with their draft picks for promoted assistants idea I guess.

At the end of the day though, I think the most natural thing is to let it go the way of the QBs. There used to be no such thing as a black QB and it's slowly become a non-issue with the best man winning the job regardless of race. And it didn't take league intervention to happen. Imagine if they did though. Like hey, here's an extra draft pick for every black QB you draft. It would completely cheapen the experience for that player and turns them into a token. And it does the same thing for coaches.

Anyway, that's all I have to say before the lock.

Looks like our defensive coordinator is gone again . Teams may be afraid to not hire him as a head coach.

IDK, this has taken a bad turn, but again if Nathaniel Hackett can get hired as a Head Coach over Bryon Leftwich or some other better qualified candidates something has to be done. And I actually believe Flores that John Elway interviewed him drunk.

I get that the Rooney rule isn't perfect, and maybe it's not helping like intended. The idea though, that the rule is the issue is insane. If we had no rule, you think we'd have more black coaches being hired? Atleast the Rooney rule gets the coaches in the door.. even if the execs are only half listening. If there was no rule, those coaches would still be waiting for the opportunity to interview. And interviewing is a skill that can be improved with experience.
