I like the player but he came at a high cost. Tough situation, though, because the Rams had no 2nd to offer so they bit the bullet to get the guy they wanted.

Cooks has been a 1100 yard, 8 TD WR for 3 straight years on 2 different teams. Much like the Rams, those teams like to spread the ball around so I anticipate numbers in that range again, all the while stretching the field and opening things up for our other WRs. I'm not sure who's more talented between him and Watkins but Cooks has been much more consistent. I was in the camp of Rams fans that felt they needed to address the WR position so this is a move that I agree was important for the team to continue where they left off offensively last year.
Cooks had 1700 yards his last season as a junior at OSU playing with someone people consider an inadequate backup QB. He had over 1000 yards his last year in HS while also playing DB and returning kicks if I recall.

The guy is quite simply a football player. My son who goes to UofO said he was talking to someone who covered OSU and UofO a couple weeks ago and she said she never saw a harder working football player on either team than Cooks. He’s a workaholic when it comes to football.

I hope we find a way to keep him because he may be a better pickup than any of the defensive stars we’ve grabbed.

My only qualms with this trade will be solved if we can lock him up for a few years. With Woods, Kupp, a couple of up-and-coming TE's, Goff under center and Gurley behind him, this offense is going to be able to attack you anywhere on the field.

But damn, they've gotta get him locked up.

Snead is pretty open about using the tags. I'd think he at least gets tagged next year. The only real Watkins wasn't is because we called Joyner more I think

I am ecstatic for 2 reasons.
1) We don’t get headaches, a diva, and spend too much money.
And 2) we get Cooks - guy’s the real deal, cheap, and is gonba’a buy in.

Personally, for the most part (with obvious exceptions), I’ve neve bought into the big receiver hype.

For every Calvin Johnson and Mike Evans, there’s a Desean Jackson and Steve Smith.

They look very beatable offensively
When you consider a 41 year old QB (when the season starts), a #1 WR coming back from an ACL?, an injury prone TE and they lost a top RB yeah that looks beatable.

I like the trade, but only if we extend him.

This is a very good fit for our team.

Keep in mind that we still have our first next year, a couple comp picks in the third, a pretty damn good base, our franchise QB, THE head coach of the future, Les Snead, Kevin Demoff, and the second richest owner in football while playing in the entertainment capital of the entire globe.

Where’s my shades?

Oh BTW... I think he is still only 24.

He is only twenty-four.

If we can sign him, I'm fine with this trade. I just don't like giving up a first when we don't even have a second.

Love getting the player and don’t buy in to this rental stuff.

But a first rounder though....

I agree. But you certainly can’t say it is a boring time to be a Rams fan.

This is another player I watched play virtually every snap. He was almost uncoverable in college. The guy is fast, has moves, and can catch the damn ball. The more I think about it, the more I am flat out geeked up by this move.

Y’know... I want long term success but I want to win a fucking SB. Let the rest sort out later. THIS is a fucking TEAM. Holy crap. I mean WOW! Let’s go get it.
