Not a big fan of Blalock, better pass blocker than run blocker. Grades out as average, slightly above....sounds like davin Joseph to me...good depth signing but I wouldn't count on hiM as our starting left guard

Joseph was "below average" last year. I'd take average compared to him. Blalock would be a good signing but I don't see us getting him and another olineman with the cap space we have left after Britt. I think it's either Blalock or Barksdale.

If we added Blaylock its likely 1-2 years. If we also signed Barks they could just give him a small cap hit in 2015, to allow the signing of Blaylock

Eh no. Davin Joseph didn't grade out anywhere near average. He was one of the worst OGs in the NFL. Average is a massive upgrade on Davin Joseph.

Blalock is in the average to above average range. And I'd have no problems counting on him as a starter. Although, I'd still be drafting a young guy because of Blalock's age and our need for young talent on the OL.

Wisniewski needs to be next

I don't understand the interest in Wisniewski. Other than being young and durable, he doesn't seem to be a highly rated Center.

I would prefer to make Barksdale and Blalock priorities and go after Reese Dismukes from Auburn in the 2nd round and let him compete with Barret Jones.

These two are smart enough to taker over the line calls and will have at least 3 veterans around them for support.

I'm fine with Dismukes or Grasu or Finney or Gallik as a rookie Center but what has Barrett Jones shown you to have faith he can hold the job down?

I'd rather trade for Evan Mathis than sign Blalock personally. Something about Blalock just doesn't sit right with me.

Joseph certainly didn't grade out as avg based on last year's play. But wouldn't he have graded out as at least that at the time the Rams signed him? I could be wrong, but I don't recall a whole lot of concern about his signing at the time.(?)

Nah, he was really, really bad with the Bucs his last year too. Some people just thought he needed more time to recover from the knee injury and he'd be okay, turns out that wasn't the case.

He was god awful the year before too (Bucs fans couldn't wait to get rid of him).

hated the signing at the time, couldn't believe some people that defended the signing . "But he's a former pro bowl guard he'll be fine!"

Blalock I'm not worried about - he actually played well last year; the polar opposite of Joseph's case

The Rams figure he is better than what they have and probably have a set value on him as to what they want to pay. They don't see him as must have, but good enough at the right price. I am pretty sure that Tampa Bay and Seattle are thinking the same way because he left his first two choices without a contract. It seems that he is not getting the offer that he wants.

Teams obviously see the availability of Centers in the draft and don't really value Wisneiwski much over drafting a young college center.

Seeing that there are about 5 or 6 good centers in the draft and only 3 or 4 teams wooing Wiz the odds of those teams getting one in the draft are pretty good. The question is who gets the best ones. Cam Erving tops my list. After that there seems to be a mix of ideas on which one is the best. Later on I like Max Garcia. But I really hope they land Erving. Seattle drafts at 31 and that is right in the projected range for Erving. They definitely have offensive line needs, and KC needs a center so, unless the Rams trade back I don't think Erving ends up with them. In that case Wiz is probably as safe a bet as the rest of the bunch. So if he meets their price I would take him.

The two Cs I like in this draft are Erving, who is a late first rounder and Gallik who probably is a third rounder. I don't know what their feelings are on Barrett Jones, but if he were any good you would think he would have been inserted in the lineup over Jones.

There are a good number of OGs to choose from. Two great ones in the first in Sherff and Collins.

The two RTs that fit us are Clemmings and the guy from Oklahoma.

We have to sign some guys. I'm hoping we resign Barksdale first and foremost.

We do need better pass blocking, so our QB doesn't get killed! JMHO!

Signing Wisniewski does two things:

1) Upgrades a minus position on last years o line to a plus, making the guards better in the process.

2) you just signed Fairley, adding him to brockers and Donald. You know who those guys line up against? Centers. You know who just traded away their center and is really hurting at the position? Seattle. If you are in fact building a team to beat the division, this makes the signing double effective.

I think Wisniewski is going to be overpaid. I'd like to have him here but I'd imagine we could get both Blalock and Barksdale for his price tag.

I don't think it's realistic to expect all three either.

I dunno. As one of the only C worth spending FA bucks on, he's certainly been on the block longer than I thought he'd be unless he's going around to every team saying what other teams are offering in order to get a bigger payday.

I don't think Wis will be over paid. The guys that get overpaid sign in the first week. I don't think Wis is getting the big offers he wants. He may be a candidate to sign a one year deal and try again next year.

Ok, makes sense. I recall Joseph had the sucky year and everyone being down on him for that. But had it in my head he'd had something of a rebound yr prior to signing with the Rams.
