Biggest question to me is do they stick with Dak or get him a new QB.
Nope, Dak is their guy, no doubt in my mind and he will sign a new contract in the coming days.

Dallas has the talent on defense but McCarthy teams have a history of below average coaching on that side of the ball.
I think Jones loves Wade and might pounce on the chance to get him back in-house. Also Wade's approach would fit well with McCarthy, who isn't the most type A head coach.Agreed and Dom Capers an excellent example, however, rumor is Mike Nolan who is now linebacker coach in New Orleans will be the DC and I'm not crazy about that hire whatsoever.
Also of note is that Joe Barry is Rod Marinelli's son-in-law. I could see Marinelli joining our staff in some sort of role if he doesn't get a solid offer to coordinate.
All that time he's deep diving on defense means he's going to need a real OC to help him do the same on offense right? He can't spend 15 hours a day on each (hypothetically). As I look around at the DC types I've arrived at a point where I feel older/proven ones aren't going to fit with what McVay reportedly wants, which is a varied and detailed approach vs each opponent where HE is part of that process. Basically Wade represented a set process where there was a simplistic blueprint and players were given flexibility but McVay just went away from that so I think it follows he's going to pursue guys who are hungry and maybe unproven and willing to deep dive the defensive scheme with him each week.
So IMO the guys like Capers, Nolan, Ryan, Marinelli, Bielema, etc., etc., etc., they're not going to be the direction he goes in. Those old/proven types are likely set in their ways and unlikely to want to go down that path with McVay.
Note this is all due to the tweets and rumors I've read in the past week now that insinuate McVay was more involved in the defense this year than people realize, and that he wants varied front type capabilities and approach much like the lesson Belichick taught him in the Super Bowl.
Agreed. Which is why he needs to make some more accountability decisions with the offensive staff IMO. So he can split time at the least to ensure gameplans on each side of the ball are what he wants. All that time he's deep diving on defense means he's going to need a real OC to help him do the same on offense right? I disagree Jack.I don't think I've ever heard of anything more scary than this.
I totally get it. And you're probably right.I disagree Jack.
Belichick does this. He oversees gameplans for both sides of the ball. This is part of the reason why he's better than everyone else btw. Not only was he an elite DC, but he's grown his knowledge of the game on the other side and the Patriots benefit from it as coordinators and coaches get poached.
McVay is on that path and that's a good thing. I love Wade, but I love McVay as our Head Coach more. Build it around him and profit. IMO.
Optics are for people responsible to the public and people who want to look good instead of be good. McVay is responsible to Kroenke and his only measurement is performance.I totally get it. And you're probably right.
BUT, in a season where we consistently showed we didn't plan well enough or adjust well enough on offense (until the last few games of the season when we finally started moving the pocket), I just don't like the optics.
If I have to hear how the Bears figured McVay out, and everyone has his number now, I'm going to puke. So it just feels like he should have had the team in a position to smoke the likes of the Steelers etc before venturing out into the defense and messing with a formula that worked late last year.
I certainly hope it is related more to this, than a sign of instability.I disagree Jack.
