I can, they will hire Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels will be his OC.
McDaniels is a good gameplanner as long as you have a personality to keep his ass in check. He and Vrabel would be a strong combo hire for both sides of the ball.
I'm starting to think that Ben Johnson should throw his hat in the ring for the Patriot job. They've got a good young QB in Maye and besides that if he takes the Chicago job it'll be a bloody war zone every week with fighting the Lions, Packers and Vikings.
He just may find it easier in the AFC East....

~ArkyRamsFan~
That's probably the most desired job in the NFL right now. Every time I watched Maye I thought to myself damn if he had a real OC...

Funny thing is you can tell that some owners have zero fucking chance to win shit in this league, just by the coaches they are targeting. I mean damn. Do some of these dudes pay any attention.

I really don't like the Doug P firing. It isn't his fault that his qb isn't good and they decided to pay him top $. Baalke is also a terrible gm.
It's very much his fault the QB hasn't played better. Pederson refused to fire his pal, Press Taylor, who is an awful OC.

If I were Johnson, I'd be targeting Chicago. I'd have been interested in Jacksonville, but keeping Baalke would be a dealbreaker for me.

I disagree on Chicago. That owner couldn't find her ass with either hand. That means her little circle of sycophants would muddy the water on everything.

Best job in the league is New England. That's where I'd be focused if I were him.

I remember being surprised when he was hired, given how shit went down in SF. He always struck me as a petty fuckhead.

Honestly year by year I am just continuously reminded how important it is to have a non-idiot owner.

I think Kraft is a dipshit who got lucky with the Brady and Belichick pairing. Chicago owner isn't good either, but it seems like they mostly stay out of the way. Chicago has a lot of young talent (due in part to the Bryce Young trade), a good amount of draft capital this year (thank you Bryce Young trade), and an extraordinarily talented #1 overall pick at QB.

I like Chicago's QB and I agree they have talent. But I don't like owners who need to have football types explaining shit to them. Which is my perception of their owner. Nothing against her, she seems like a nice lady and all, but this game requires an owner to be competitive and even when certain types get a hire of a coach right it seems like things will revert due to that.

Kraft is a dirty little piece of shit but I think he has a good grasp of the game. He was smart enough to go after Parcells first, so he knew he wanted that defensive potency via the Giants bloodline. And the moment Belichick emerged he outmaneuvered the Jets to get him. I recall that moment it happened recognizing he had good instincts because Belichick was a super elite DC with a knack for befuddling offenses in big games.

This is why I was so surprised he hired Mayo last year. Who to me felt like a DEI hire all the way, and a major deviation from the hire that put Kraft on the map which was based fully on years of excellent defensive scheming. We'll see what he does this year. I am no fan of the dude by any means. I just would choose him over some daughter who inherited the team and needs to have shit mansplained to her by a circle of sycophants. Now you may think my take is over the top or whatever and that's cool. Just how I see it.

I prefer owners who stay out of the football decisions and trust the people they hire to do the job.

(And calling Mayo a "DEI hire" is just utterly absurd, particularly with a guy like Kraft doing the hiring. It's insulting towards Mayo. But I'd rather not go any further down that rabbit hole.)

The only insulting thing irt Mayo is the team he fielded. He was grossly unprepared and unfit for that job.

Pederson 100% deserved firing he shouldn't even have made it through the year. He failed the QB which is what he was hired for and he failed to improve the team they looked poorly coached every week. Balke keeping his job will never cease to amaze me.

First-time HC with a shit roster following a HOFer who could only win four games with a very similarly shit roster the year before. I wasn't the least bit surprised by their results this year. Kraft will probably come out of this ahead because Vrabel is a good HC, but he handled it poorly.

Pats projected win total was 4.5, so obviously coaching played a big part only winning 4 games

The only problem with Vrabel is that he is no Belichick. I do respect his body of work, but he might not ever be a guy who can give Kraft the glory days he's seeking.

Now the Lions OC may be that level of coach. Though with him I think his scheming ability is bolstered by the team building of others.

So. If Kraft were to go back to the well with the hire in terms of favoring a coach who has shown high performance as a coordinator over time I think the hire should be Brian Flores. Who I think has more knowledge of defense than Vrabel. You just pair him with McDaniels or any other competent offensive mind to ensure Mayes continues his development, and invest your ass off in the defense. That's what I'd do at least.

Flores is also a good option. I don't see Ben Johnson being interested (due to the complete lack of talent on offense), but I could be wrong.

Think he's the kind of guy though that would look at it as the challenge to build his own weapons on offense?

Based on how picky he's been the past two offseasons, I think he wants a place where he has the pieces to win quickly.

Kind of makes me think less of him. I want a guy with the ego of wanting to build his masterpiece. I get needing at least some pieces there and being able to accentuate them but I'd like that kind of ego wanting to build his own thing. Kind of like McVay he had Goff and Gurley but just about the entire WR group was his additions that offseason IIRC. Drafted Reynolds and Kupp signed Watkins and Wood along with drafting Everett to go with 2nd year Higbee.

I agree.

Spotrac has NE with 131mil cap space to spend in 2025 free agency?
They will also have 5 picks in the top 100 in 2025 draft? Would have been better had they lost on Sunday, but still real good spot.

That amount of $ and picks could turn around a team in one off-season.
