And paying the price....

View: https://twitter.com/AP_Sports/status/918110531545960448

Always have had big props for the Sox, but always hated Farrell....

I've always been ambivalent towards Red Sox managers recently. The only guy I hated was Bobby V.. Loved Grady Little. :)Respected Francona, particularly since he got such bad mouthing from Phillie fans. Farrell was Tito's pitching coach IIRC and I didn't care either way for him. Started to dislike him the last couple of years. ;)

Going way back, I hated Dick Williams but it wasn't because of the Red Sox. I hated him when he was the A's manager. I didn't like Darrell Johnson. Felt sorry for Zimmer. Hated Houk, McNamara and Morgan. Hobson and Kennedy were both putzes but Jimy Williams was pretty good.

It's going to be interesting to see who Dombrowski hires.

I know we're on different sides of the fence with Girardi. That doesn't mean I don't agree 100% with you on his blowing game 2. Regardless of how much time video had to revue it. Regardless of the fact his catcher, 2 feet away from the hitter, was telling him it hit the knob. Regardless of the batter not reacting typically to being hit. The SITUATION demanded he review it. He blew it and he's got to own it.

I don't buy into the theory "his players are rallying behind him" by winning the last 2. They'd want to win anyway. I do believe it would have been easy to throw in the towel after Game 2 AND the tension of game 3. It says a lot about that locker room, especially being so young but it could also be a little bit of getting your manager some redemption. The only problem with that is, you gotta win game 5. We'll see.

I didn't find it difficult to see his choice of pitchers for game 5. C.C. has the experience, pitched well in game 2 and is loved by his team mates. Gray has been up and down since his second month with the Yankees. After getting virtually no run support and going 2-3 (with a 2.70 Era) in his first 5 starts, he's had some bad games (against Boston, Baltimore and Tampa). I can live with the choice but they have to have Green ready to go early, with Kahnle, Warren and Robertson right behind him if CC shows any signs of struggle. His numbers are not good vs the Cleveland lineup (while Gray's are superb).

This is what it's all about. Winner take all (as far as this series is concerned).

Easiest way to shut up a Yankee fan (like me) when they say Girardi needs to be fired, is to ask, who do you replace him with??

I've heard Gabe Kapler's name mentioned as well. He was the runner up to Doc and has been great in our front office. I'd hate to lose him but he'll get a job soon.

Kapler would be great. He was a good clubhouse guy when he played for Boston. Good find oldschool

Back on May 7th, my old man's 75th b day, I picked the Nats vs Yankees in the World Series. Big Bro picked Houston and Wash, and the old man picked Boston vs Dodgers. All put in $100 to whoever gets both teams right

Looking at what's going on tonight the pool will carry over to next year. As Werth earns his nickname Werthless in the outfield.

So Keuchel stymies the Yankees once again. What may be lost in that storyline is Tanaka was very good once again. For the third straight game. His best 3 game run of the season. These two teams are MLB's #1 and #2 run producers! 2-1? Who'd a thunk it? It will be interesting to see if AJ Hinch uses 3 or 4 starters in this series. I would want Keuchel to start 3 games if it goes 7. Severino/Verlander today. Sabathia/Morton Monday. Tuesday Sonny Gray vs ?

Tanaka was very impressive considering his road struggles all year. Yes his last 2 starts, both at home, were very good but he was sporting like a 6.5 era on the road for the season.

Yeah. I don't buy into that home / road stuff. I think it's just the way things go. His worst game of the season 1.2 IP 8 ER came at home. His best game of the season came at Boston 9 IP 0 R. His day / night splits are as lopsided as his home and away splits but does anybody really believe daylight has an affect? IMHO, it really doesn't matter. If you've got great stuff, you're going to pitch well. If you don't, you won't. I do believe every time he's pitched at a crucial junction of the season he's come through. Including his last 3 appearances. The bats lost the game last night, not Tanaka.

I never said Tanaka lost the game. I complimented him on his start. Believe them or not the numbers show he had troubles on the road all season long since his metrics were decidedly worse on the road.

Yes good pitchers will rise to the occasion in the playoffs sometimes but that was an even more impressive performance from him since it was on the road and against the team that scored the most runs in baseball.

Corey Seager with some serious back issues has been left off the NLCS roster. This is a very bad break for the Dodgers.

I’ve been clamoring for Girardi to put Romine behind the dish and DH Sanchez. Can’t afford these mishaps with him.
And our DH are now like 0-25
