Wow I love the feedback guys! I totally get the idea of this being a risk with how much time has elapsed and how far behind the 8 ball these guys would be. It's a risk though I think you would have to take if Mannion does not show he can play any better than Thursday and Brandon Allen is average.

Risk is minimized when you acquire somebody that knows the offense or a Veteran who has the ability to learn and execute the offense at an accelerated pace.

Anyone who thought Fales was not a real contender for the back-up job should think again. Fales looked pretty good during his time on Thursday. He and Brock Osweiler rotated series throughout the game and Fales came away looking a lot better.
He finished the night 8 of 11 for 115 yards. He showed good vision and didn’t lock on to receivers but did a good job of scanning the field and creating time in the pocket. He was aided by really good line play as well as great running by Sinorise Perry.

Fales led the team to two field goals and a touchdown scoring on all of his series.

Fales is the guy that no matter how good he looks or how well he plays no one bats an eye. I've been a fan of his for awhile. Glad you mentioned him. I think Matt Moore is a possibility with the connection to Rams QB coach Zac Taylor.

I wanted the Rams to draft Fales when he came out. In fact he was the guy I wanted the Rams to take mid round.
He has the same issue that plaques guys like Keenum....lack of a cannon arm.

Honestly I've love for us to give Kaep a shot with certain stipulations ofc! But no one in F'n hell that happens. He f'd himself out of the league!

The Rams have no cap room, so, it's Mannion or Allen.
Could get interesting.
I expect Mannion to play better next time out.
If RG3 is cut or needs to be traded for, a low round pick will work fora trade, and money can be found for a back like RG3...

If he's traded for, he will have a cap hit of a million. Cutting Mannion would save $877k. The Rams have the money, but I suspect they may negotiate with Barron to clear up some cap space anyway. Unless there are some other vets with nonguaranteed contracts that are not going to make the team.

That's ok if Mannion is a real NFL quality QB. Right now, I'm going to have to be convinced of that (not that my thoughts really matter with McVay & Co.)

Kaep would get my vote as well. Realistically, I'd be interested in Griffin if he shakes loose. Allen should get #2 reps this week IMO, he has more to offer than Mannion. I like Sean, but he's heavy footed and he sure doesn't process info like a 4th year guy should, especially as a coach's kid IMO.

For me, no stipulations. It's LA. His protest probably helps the Rams there.

I didn't suggest Mannion - I said that RGIII would have a million in salary, and that cutting Mannion would actually save almost all of that. The Rams would still need to save money somewhere, though - they are too tight against the cap for comfort.

Kaepernick is not a good alternative, imo. I think he'd want more money - and more importantly, I'm skeptical that he is actually in game shape. Maybe he is, but he had a season off, did not take part in offseason activities, and has missed half or more of training camp. That's a lot of conditioning to miss out on for a guy in his 30s.

Can't believe I am saying this, but RGBoner3. I also like either Lynch, or Stoler coming out of their situations.

Cardale, Jones, and Geno Smith are also in tough #2 battles. I saw good things from both, but IMO, I like Cardale more as a teammate..
