There is only 1 hope, and that is that Mannion plays well in the next game. Because he is the #2 QB and is not getting replaced this year. Allen is not taking the 2 spot, and there is no way that after investing this much time in him that McVay and Co would just change course.

I don't think the Rams keep three QBs on the roster with as many LBs that will probably be kept on the roster. My curiosity is peaked by Perez not seeing the field yet. Do the Rams see something in the kid that they don't want anybody else to see? Is he not quite ready but the Rams don't plan on keeping three QBs on the roster and plan on stashing him on the PS? Mannion or Allen is our backup this year. The other one is getting released. I'm not going to wring my hands over a situation that hasn't reared it's ugly head yet anyways.
Luis Perez at best makes the PS. I don't even know if he'll make it to play in game #4

Ravens still evaluating what to do with Robert Griffin III, John Harbaugh says
Jamison Hensley/ESPN Staff Writer

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the decision will "go right to the wire."

"There's no question that the best quarterback thing to do would be to keep Robert Griffin. He's proven it," Harbaugh said. "He's played exceptionally well, and it makes the team better."

The decision will be heavily based on the Ravens' confidence in Jackson, the rookie first-round pick.

Jackson has struggled mightily during stretches in the preseason. He has failed to complete at least half of his passes in any of the three preseason games.

If the Ravens feel Jackson can be the primary backup to Flacco, they will part ways with Griffin. If Baltimore believes Griffin gives the team a significantly better chance of winning -- and ending a three-year playoff drought -- if Flacco gets injured, the team will keep him.

"That's going to be a choice that will be well-discussed within the next couple of weeks and already has been," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said.

Griffin has made a convincing case to stay in Baltimore. In three preseason games, he has completed 18 of 26 passes (69.2 percent) for 177 yards. He has thrown two touchdowns and one interception for a 97.8 passer rating.

His only interception was the result of a dropped pass by Breshad Perriman in the Hall of Fame Game. Griffin also had a 30-yard touchdown pass bounce off the hands of rookie Jordan Lasley during Monday's preseason game. If that had been a touchdown, Griffin's passer rating would be 118.5.

If the Ravens part ways with Griffin, it's likely he will end up somewhere in the league.

"It doesn't feel like I've been away from the game for an entire year," Griffin said. "It's truly a blessing to be playing again. I enjoy it. It doesn't matter if it's first quarter or fourth quarter."

Griffin was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 draft and was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Injuries and inconsistent play led to him bouncing from Washington to Cleveland.

He was out of football last year, throwing passes to receivers at UCF to keep sharp. The Ravens brought him in for a workout this offseason and signed him to a one-year, $1.1 million contract. Only the $100,000 signing bonus is guaranteed.

Last year, half of the NFL teams carried three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster to start the season, according to ESPN Stats & Information. The last time the Ravens had three quarterbacks on their season-opening roster was 2009, when they had Flacco, Troy Smith and John Beck.

"He has played at a starting-caliber level in the games that he's played, and he's an experienced guy," Harbaugh said of Griffin. "I'd rather have him than not have him, for sure, but there are other factors that go into that and we'll have to figure all that out. [GM] Ozzie [Newsome] ultimately will have to make that decision."

Yep...I wish we had Sloter. Pretty sure he's way better than anything behind Goff.

Tough call Kyle Joseph Sloter as he's been with a couple of teams and only has preseason work to showcase his talents and has never played in a regular season game. Was not a draft choice either, in fact, Branden Allen was a juggernaut in preseason with the Jaguars and came from better stock. I like Sloter's height but he lacks experience as even in college, he went back & forth from QB to WR and then back to QB.

Now he's been with the Broncos and was released and now with the Vikings, he could be one of those guys that just pops in preseason and if the Vikings release him and the Rams do claim him, it would be most likely to be behind Goff & Mannion until he got up to speed, but it is very doubtful IMHO, the Rams go with a backup that has less actual game experience than Mannion, albeit, not the greatest experience.

Sorry, but Mannion and Allen both started at Power 5 conferences and have significant advantages over a guy that didn’t throw a pass for 2 different schools for 3 years in lower division FBS and FCS.

I expect both Mannion and Allen to play well tonight given who and what they’ll play with.

I won’t waste any time worrying about Goff’s backup; if the backup plays it’ll be an uphill battle.

I frankly doubt that Snead is “scouring” rosters because that’s what fans do.

Enjoy the game!

Looking forward to Mannion killing it tonight so we can put this talk to rest. McVay gotta do him a solid and give him some aggressive play calling

That would be ok, of course. On the other hand, he will have the most “One’s” in the beginning of the game that he will ever have, outside of a Goff injury.

It will be brutal for him on this board if he doesn’t do well.

Unfortunately, it was 11/12 for 68 yards, which is quite bad. I have nothing against Mannion, but we must upgrade. When the Texans challenged him, he was atrocious. His play didn't pick up until they backed off into soft zone coverage.

At least he getting two more yards on a completed pass play than last game. Why he's all the way up to 6 yards! Woohoo!

Didn't he already play in this offense in Washington?

Not really. Was a lot of read option, boot legs with run option. He had 817 rushing yards.

Shanahan father/son offense.. Kind if reminded me of something that John Elway might fit.

I think Josh Dobbs is a good option. It looks like he might be the odd man out in Pittsburgh. I like having an athletic #2 QB because it gives McVay something additional to work with to compensate for him not having Goff's talent.

The Jets would take a 4th rounder for Teddy Bridgewater..
