I concur I also find it interesting that Shelton was active and Allen never was, everyone on this board knows how I feel about Brian Allen, I didn't like him at Michigan State, didn't like him when the Rams drafted him and I like him even less now, Shelton is bigger and hopefully after two years of professional strenght & conditioning should be ready, then again the Rams could draft Creed Humphrey from Oklahoma and never look back.

That first of two photo's of Shelton is not of a skinny 6-5 under 300 pound OL'er. Shelton has been stashed away for two full seasons now since his arrival. First, he played behind Masson Cole (AZ) then Allen then Blythe. Snead seems to like those NW Washington players. This month Shelton signed a contract that will have him most likely here for the next two seasons.

I've always been a Blythe fan. Yea, hes not the best center, but that's not the only position he can play. Very good insurance to have if your starter goes down. Best of luck to the guy.
I'm perfectly fine with Blythe as a back up.
Blythe is serviceable.

IMO, Shelton has added strength because I don't believe he would have been active on game day, if that was the case. I don't believe the Rams will move Austin Corbett or Tremayne Anchrum to Center, however, I sure do love Anchrum's size, aptitude & attitude, so it's possible, but Shelton is very quick and moves well, I think all of us will know more of this position after the draft.

Lol - after the draft when The Rams don’t draft a offensive lineman.I said last year they wouldn’t.Anchrum a 6th rd pick. Johnston & that starting rookie kicker(wtf) & then Anchrum after trading back to get those extra 7th rd picks.
I won’t say never & with all The Rams Free Agent OLinman after 2021 makes things crazy.Plus add a Covid season & a New OLine coaches makes this draft totally different in Evaluation. The Rams I believe have an excellent scouting department & might find a couple gems by kicking some rocks around.

Blythe is getting a fresh start to ruin another Oline and QB.

I‘d rather read a fans take on what they have seen from a player in college than PFF scores. It doesn’t appear the solution is on the roster as of this moment.

So which Ram interior OL'er who was active last yr do we cut to make room for Blythe?

The interior backups were Bobby Evans, Tremayne Anchrum & Coleman Shelton. Which one goes?

Lmao - nailed it. The last 3 centers from UW. This year they might have there best center of them all entering the 2021 draft ?
Snisher drafting Greg Robinson after The Rams drafted Jason Smith #2 overall going over that again makes me think Jeff Fisher got Les Snead all caught up in that Auburn thing.

Weaknesses: Humphrey is a left-handed center and will spin the ball in a different direction, which could disrupt a QB’s pattern.

I've never seen this in an oline evaluation. Thought it was interesting.
As an experienced swing OG/C and first guy off the bench he will earn his money though.

No doubt.

I'm not advocating to keep Blythe. But he has value as a back up.

I haven't seen enough of Shelton or Anchrum to make that decision.
I'm keeping Evans, though.

How many lives is Demby going to have?

So the rams wait until someone wanted him and then they want to sign him? Pretty fuckin thin if you ask me.
It could also be possible that Blythes agent was asking too much.

Let him go test his value in the open market.
When the price goes down, come talk to us.

Demby has not been active or dressed for a gm since Brian Allen went down with that bad knee injury. I do not think anyone is really counting Jamil Demby as being included in the 2021 Rams final roster. Had to be a Kromer kromy. Demby must be a really good person for him to have been kept on the very edges of the NFL world for so long. He was extremely raw as an LT project & when they move him inside to try to take the pressure off his.... s l o w........ feet he appeared to have to be completely retrained as a swing OG. No idea how or if he has progressed.

One thing about Demby is he has the physical measurables that you do like in OL'ers. He just could not manage any of those measurables.

Back to Blythe .....IMO I would waste no more few salary dimes on Blythe paycheck any longer my old Ram bud Dodgersrf. Let's get these younger more powerful Ram OL'ers involved in this OL. Coach Carberry is going to run much more of a power scheme this season ....more than we have seen since McVay arrived! Count on that.

I do not perceive any pressing needs on this Ram team for any OT's or OG's backups. Next season will be a completely different situation. I would concentrate on improving the center period not just one more like two! Blythe does not move that needle period.

Your correct on the OL'ers who have not yet started a game for the Rams OT/OG Chandler Brewer, OT/OG Tremayne Anchrum & Colemen Shelton. But Brewer & Shelton have seen snaps with the offense since they arrived....Shelton @ OG & OC & Brewer took a few series @ LT.

The fact is So Ram NO member here has seen much of anything of Shelton. Yes, he was a UDFA in 2018 who was projected to be drafted in the later rounds as a quality versatile smart OL'er. Shelton really had just two negative issues ......short arms & badly under developed lower leg power coming out of college where he signed quickly by the 9ers then by the Titans then by the Cards where Rams Snead plucked him off their Practice Squad & inserted him on the master roster in 9/3/2019 to be center Brian Allen's back up. So four teams would be the correct answer. Shelton has never been out of the NFL since he was signed moments after the draft.

Those short arms have narrowed his selection as to what post he might start in the NFL....that be Center. So now its 3 full yrs since he entered the NFL 3 full seasons of NFL OTC'sTraining Camps & preseasons....no way of knowing if he has beefed up & increased that big minus of lower-end power in his posterior.

4 years of college and two in the pros. If he’s not strong enough by now I doubt he ever will be.

To be honest short arms on a tall Olineman that does not have strong legs, does not sound like a starting NFL center to me. Anchrum sounded like a real good center prospect.

ANY RAM FAN that hasn’t appreciated AUSTIN BLYTHE I’m sorry for you
Hes appreciated. Just not as a starter.

Do you really want him to anchor our C position for the next 3-4 years?
I known I don't.
I would prefer to have someone there that's as solid as Sullivan was.
Sully wasn't putting up HOF play, but he was better than Blyth.
It's really not a lot to ask for.

Blythe is having a solid NFL career. He's making money and playing football.
For that. I am happy for him.
Nobody hates him.

Being a Buckeye fan, I watch quite a bit of the Big Ten and did see Brian Allen in college and every time the Spartans played the Buckeyes, I knew they could take advantage of Allen's size, in order to disrupt the running game, which the Spartans counted on under Mark Dantonio.

So I just did not have that high regard for Allen and was shocked when the Rams drafted him in the 4th round because most had him rated later. My hope was as always I was wrong, have been many times before, so far, unfortunately with Allen I have been right.

Same for me. I couldn’t believe what Snead said about him post draft. That is of the guy I remembered at all. I watched a lot of Big Ten football. Allen always looked more average to below to me.

I never understand why folks bring up Sullivan, he was decent at best, by the end was a liability.
His second year here wasnt as good as the year prior.
Yes, he was regressing, but a liability is a bit strong imo.
Even in his last year, he was better than Allen and Blythe.

We are fixing to find out Elmgrovegnome if Shelton is a legit NFL center or not. In one month from now the Draft will get things going to answer so many questions you & I have.

If anyone on the team takes over the center position I believe it will be Anchrum. He’s good enough to play back up tackle. but I only think that was because Brewer opted out. But I’ve seen him listed from 6’-2” to 6’ -4”. Mostly I’ve seen him at 314 lbs. So he’s got good measurements and from reports he has the strength.

According to this article with quotes, he’s moving back inside at guard or center and is ready to compete. @BonifayRam

I'm very interested to see what Carberry does.
I like the idea of a power scheme, where guys can just bulldoze straight ahead and run the ball up the gut of a defense.
Don't think, just attack.

We're just 1 solid C away from having a very good Oline.
Let's do it and milk every bit of football we can out of Stafford.

Anchrum is 6-1 5/8ths inches tall. He has consistently been listed 314 pounds for the last few seasons in college. I have posted many times that TA has shown to be a very mature young man. Mentally & physically.
